Blue Mountain State readying Kickstarter campaign

“Blue Mountain State†is trying to hit paydirt.

The TV series, which ran for three seasons on Spike, recently announced a Kickstarter campaign with the goal of mounting (pardon the pun) a theatrical version.

“Our fans have been clamoring for another season, but we’re going to give them a movie,†says actor Ed Marinaro, who plays Coach Marty Daniels on the “wild, crazy, bawdy college comedy,†as he describes it.


“Blue Mountain State†is about the Mountain Goats football team of fictional Blue Mountain State University. The show follows the escapades of a quarterback, lineman, mascot, cheerleaders and other misfits as they enjoy football, drinking and sex – not always in that order.

The show has featured a number of football-related names in cameos, including Bill Parcells, Boomer Esiason and Chad Ochocinco.

Marinaro says “everybody’s involved†in the hoped-for movie, including creators Eric Falconer and Chris Romano. Both Falconer and Romano have tweeted about the Kickstarter campaign, which is trending under the hashtag #BMSKickstarter.

Marinaro, who’s also known for his roles on “Hill Street Blues†and “Sisters,†told CNN the show has provided a career boost.

“It’s been an interesting rebirth for me at my age to have this crazy fanbase of 15- to 30-year-old men,†says Marinaro, 64. “I’m shocked at the recognition that I get when I’m traveling.â€

Quite a few BMS fans around here, hope this one is even half as successful as the Veronica Mars one.

I got a reply on Twitter from Romanski (he plays Sammy and writes the show) he said it would be coming to the world but he won't know that yet.

Fingers crossed it raises enough money and quickly.

Movie has just 10 days left to reach it's goal, needs just under 400,000 bucks to do it.

It is however, only the 4th film to pass the million dollar donation mark.
