Alright well it’s been motherfucking two years since the last Marvel film so boy was it good to get back to theaters and see this.
Even though this is the Black Widow thread I’m still gonna use spoiler tags since the movie just came out.

So I really enjoyed this movie except for one fact. It had probably the worst villain in MCU history lmao. Taskmaster in this film is a literal joke. Taskmaster’s power is to mimic other fighters and I swear they didn’t utilize this once. It made no sense how lazy the creators were with Taskmaster. It’s like writing a paper and just forgetting about one whole section.
That being said the movie was awesome because of the family dynamic. The movie does a really good job of exploring Natasha’s backstory with her “family”. Little sister Yelena, Dad Aleksei, and Mom Melina. All actors play their parts well. Scarlett Johansson is of course once again excellent as Natasha and gets to bring an emotional weight to the character that wasn’t present before. Florence Pugh is both adorable and fierce at the same time. David Harbour is just perfect as the tough brute with a heart of gold. Rachel Weiss is fine but not a standout like the other three. The family dynamic works very well and you legit feel bad for Natasha for what she had to go through. The opening of the movie is almost horror-like and it works really well. The movie is surprisingly lighter on humor then the other MCU films and the humor that is there works very well. A couple of scenes actually had me dying with laughter. All the dramatic moments work pretty well and I really wanted the characters to succeed at the end. Yes, the fact that we know Natasha dies in Endgame makes the stakes seem smaller here but it doesn’t matter cause it’s not like we would have expected her to die anyway lol. The action scenes were all well done in typical MCU fashion but nothing super memorable which kind of was disappointing. This goes back to Taskmaster. They could have used her to have some of the most innovative fight scenes in the MCU but Noooooo. Ah well.
Overall the movie was very well done. Despite an awful villain, strong family dynamic, great performances, hilarious scenes, and a tear-jerking backstory make this movie well worth the watch. Glad the movies are back.
