Yeh I'll have to say:

Heath Ledger's death.
Mitchell Jonhson's 8'fer (in the last innings against RSA...)
Finding out the severity of the problems in my knee, and what I'd need to get done.
Pretty much the ending and beginning of ever Prison Break episode aired this year too.

Those are the things that come to mind.

Biggest shock of 2008 is when my roommate's gf brought a kitty to the house. I played with the kitty alot, I love kitty's <3. I woke up and he was there so i played with him a bit his paw got caught up in the curtain string. I left to go shower and when I came down the kitty was 4 inches above the ground hung from baseboards in the unfinished basement by the curtain string.

When i cut off the curtain string I picked up the dead kitty and mourned. Slowly the dead kitty shitted on a towel I put him on. proving that Cartman was actually right that episode about how when you die you shit yourself.

The Economic Crisis was a surprise and so was the Mumbai Terrorist attacks.. I was really shocked when I saw it on the news.

Barack Obama winning was not a shock. I would have been more shocked if McCain would have won.

Heath Ledger death along with Jennifer Hudson's family being murdered stand out as the most shocking. But here is by far the most shocking moment of 2008-finding out Clay Aiken was gay.

I was surprised at how freaking great the Olympics were this year. The opening ceremony will never be topped, and the Phelps thing was just amazing.

I found these surprising.
-Barack Obama is still alive.
-Britney Spears made a comeback.
-All the store closings.

I didn't find the economy a surprise, because with gas and everything else so overpriced, I knew that debt would get bigger. The moral of this is GO TO COLLEGE and that history repeats itself.

2: That the Dark Knight would actually do that well. I mean $800 million for a superhero movie? Nuts! It was that good though...

Thank you all for mentioning the Mumbai Terrorist incidents. India and Pakistan have never had a good relationship, but that did truly just happen with no lead-in or expectation
