- The Vince McMahon vs. Paul Heyman fight next week on RAW is likely going to be used as a setup for the Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar match at WrestleMania. It’s possible we’ll see run-ins from the WrestleMania opponents.

- If The Undertaker does commit to wrestle at WrestleMania, Monday’s RAW from Dallas, Texas is a logical opportunity for him to return. One scenario we’ve heard would be The Undertaker costing CM Punk his match with John Cena (and a shot at The Rock at WrestleMania), setting up the match between them.

- An interesting statistic about the age of WWE’s audience. Many people think that WWE’s current PG product means that a very large portion of their audience must be children. Currently, only 21% of WWE’s US audience is under the age of 18. Compare that to the Attitude Era, when that number was almost 40%. Back then, 4.5 million kids under 18 were watching WWE TV each week, compared to only 1.5 million now.

(Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter)

The statistic of the WWE audience is pretty shocking. I never knew more kids were watching WWE during the Attitude Era than the current PG era. WWE should just make their product more aggressive since 79% of the audience is 18 or over.

That statistic just means that the kids who watched back then are now adults and have kids of their own and watch with them.

If WWE was to be the same as the AE, then it would be TNA and it wouldn't be as big as it is now. Not to mention the fact that kids from the 90s, were more older than kids today.

When I was a child I knew about porn, alcohol and drugs, wrestling and gangsta rap and death metal. I doubt a kid today could even fathom that type of stuff even with the advantage of an interent connection.

Kids around the 8-12 demographic like watching stuff that makes them feel adult, like violent movies and horror films. Pro-wrestling, particularly WWE for its production value, will always naturally appeal because of the illusion of violence and colourful characters, and the absurdity and sillyness is already built-in to its premise.

Watching wrestling is like watching people from another planet, where the only thing that matters in life is being able to fight better than everyone else. It's already so shamelessly indulgent that there isn't much room to make it even more childish than it is, without alienating older audiences.

I eventually supported WWE's shift to PG because it seemed like a ballsy move that would usher a new generation of fans, so long as it wouldn't stay this way forever. After about 5 years of the PG era, maybe the return to TV-14 should be considered soon. I don't mind, say, the lack of blood to carry over, wrestling doesn't have to be gruesome just because it can. But you sometimes get the feeling that WWE are antsy to book some darker angles or craft some edgier characters, but simply aren't able to.

Oh, and these fucking rematches!

I'm not understanding how you came to that conclusion considering the parents of today do a lot less parenting since there is more parents that are younger than they were in the 90's. So if anything having a lot more access to stuff and less discipline I'm sure some kids today can more than fathom that stuff in the internet age where kids have laptop, cellphones and get away with shit I would get killed for if I did it as a kid before they are 10.

Lets be honest here. We are that age now and watching still, some of have kids/siblings that are young and watch because of us/with us. It's why you see more and more moms in the audience wi little boys in Cena gear

I was the exact opposite. But my Brother who was ten years younger than me knew all of that stuff before the age I learned about it.

I came to that conclusion because I was once a youth worker (fucked up right? I know) but believe it or not. Anyways, me and my friends seemed far more mature (not the "Hey I have values" sor ot mature, more of the "I wanna fuck something" mature) before we turned double digits. And none of us had the advantage of internet, we had to work for our porn. Find it in the woods, steal it from the local store, things of that nature........Anyways, Kids could turn on the net and see whatever they want, it doesn't mean they know what it is.

Bit surprised that the children watching figure isn't higher especially since the crowds these days seem to have a lot more kids in there than even ten years ago. The PG direction was the right move though due to the increase in sponsorship at that rating level.

With the other angles it is about time HHH returns. I have been expecting it for a couple of weeks now and it makes sense for it to happen now. I am assuming that Taker won't wrestle at WM that way I will be surprised if he turns up on RAW in the coming weeks.

That's very interesting actually. The fact that even though the programming is PG oriented the majority of the viewing corpus is above the age of 18.

They could make the product more aggressive, but I'm not sure if that in itself would ensure a dramatic increase in viewership, there's only so much shock value that a creator of any artistic product can provide before that gets old too. The product needs to stand on it's own merits, which I think it's doing at this present moment. Oh, and just out of curiosity, is TNA rated TV-14 or TV-MA?

Meh....everybody on here and viewers in general probably managed to piece that together by themselves. :side:

Again, it's going to be very interesting since WrestleMania is in New York, hoping for a vocal crowd, if you know what I mean.

WWE could make the product more agressive but if it's parental rating increases it will cause it to lose advertisers. What they should be aiming at doing is working within the current rating and produce a product that appeals to all generations rather than dumbing it down too much.

I had a look at the SpikeTV website and Impact is rated TV-PG.
