To further this topic. What guys do you say are the most believable on the stick?

Like when a wrestler cuts a promo describing themselves as some kind of ass kicking monster (Triple H when he made himself into the Game is a prime example, or how Foley made people believe that he was deranged).

Steen is currently the most believable guy for me on the stick. When he says he is going to hurt people (break John Morrison's neck, break some guys knees etc) I can find myself believing him. Because he has that sort of aura around himself and in his voice. Punk's "boxing with god" comment ends up on the other side of the spectrum for me. I like Punk but when he stood there and had to bend his head backwards to look Rock in the eyes to deliver that line he came off as forced to me. Like a small guy trying to act tough in front of a bigger guy. And again, I like Punk overall. He just came off as unbelievable with that comment.

Punk is up there. One of the most infamous promos was a shoot that - at the time - nobody knew was a shoot. Sure people were talking about it potentially being a shoot, but nobody knew at all, I remember browsing the big wrestling forums and there was just a huge state of excitement of this being a legit shoot.

Ambrose. He looks and sounds like a psycho. He has the perfect voice for it, and it works to perfection.

Ray. Ray is incredible at making himself look like a complete and utter scum bag, when in reality he's reportedly very nice. These three come to mind when we talk about believability.

Anyone should have known that Punk's promo was a worked shoot lol. I remember being annoyed at surfing the forums back then and seeing just how easily the wool can still be pulled over some people's eyes. They could have cut his mic off if he had actually crossed the line and said something he wasn't supposed to. Also, 'shoots' in wrestling that have deceived people before are nothing new.

I think Punk certainly comes off as believable most of the time, though. Perhaps because he has a massive ego in real life and probably really does think he's the best in the world.

I think it was because he was about to talk about the bullying campaign, which we all know WWE push hard, and how Vince McMahon was involved etc. Soon as it cut out, you got that "omfg did I just witness that!" feeling. Anyone who can even put that thought into your head is believable.

AA has improved a LOT on the mic, but the best talker in wrestling? Really?
I could say the EXACT same thing about CM Punk, pal. :pity1:

I didn't include anyone from WWE on my list becuase it wouldn't be fair, but Punk? C'mon. Overrated. The guy bores me to fucking tears that guy. He's very good, don't get me wrong, but jesus.

Aries? #1 bar none. He's had way more better "pipebombs" which were even better delivered than him (not counting THE PUNK BOMB of July 2011). But of course, nobody takes those bombs seriously or doesn't "count" thembecause "they were said in a TNA show and who is Aries compared to Punk anyway?". It's the way wrestling works nowadays.

Aries >>> Punk, in every aspect of a professional wrestler, in my opinion.

You don't watch WWE, yet Punk bores you to tears? Come on.

I watched around 70-80% of his so called "great mic work" in last year or so, which was recommended on the wrestling boards from the people (marks) like yourself. And yeah, from what I've watched, he's very good, but there were times I wished I was fucking dead (like when Chavo & Shaun won the titles again).

I reckon you watch WWE weekly tbh, or skip through it at least :pity:.

Anyway, your opinion, but I think Aries is overrated if people are genuinely calling him the best talker in wrestling.

Think it would be easier to just keep it company by company, no real point to debating stuff like Daniels vs Jericho...
Just in WWE:
1: Paul Heyman (easily)
2: Chris Jericho
3: CM Punk
4: John Cena (when serious)
T-5: Sandow and Rhodes
T-7: Wade Barrett and Miz
9: Titus O'Neil
10: Daniel Bryan

So many guys are just so hard to rank... Rhodes's good work says keep him up there but he hasn't done anything relevant in so long... same with Wade and Miz... Those three have really lost their spark, but at the top of their game they're really good. Sandow could possibly he higher, but he's been cutting the same promo over and over but the promo's always entertaining. (That's hard to do, right, Zeb?) Sandow, Heyman, and to a lesser extent Bryan are the only guys who ALWAYS bring it.

(Haven't seen enough of Dean Ambrose to really tell tbh, so just left him off on purpose)

In my opinion, some of the best talkers in all of wrestling today (not including Punk), are:
Paul Heyman
Dolph Ziggler
Johnny Curtis
Adam Cole
Brad Maddox
Chris Jericho
Bobby Roode
Austin Aries
Chris Daniels
Kevin Steen
Dean Ambrose
