Same. Aliens is vastly better than Alien. Especially the longer cut. The theme of motherhood makes that movie special imo.
Ripley finding out she missed her daughter's whole life so it explains why she bonds so hard to Newt in this film and protects her like a mother.
That then parallels with her fight with the Queen, essentially the aliens mother. It's truly a masterpiece imo.
It's strange how the theme of motherhood wasn't something I ever thought of. (
I mean, I'm a dude so it's not likely I'd pick up on that). I'd always seen
Aliens as a continuum and the theme being "War" versus the first movie being truly more of an unsettling, slow-burn horror movie.
Tangent related: I hope they scrap any Netflix or Amazon series garbage that will have "Woke" allusions in it and instead get James Cameron back and tell him "
You're doing an Isolation trilogy for Amanda Ripley. We don't care how much money it costs. You get executive control of the final cut, too."
-But we know that's fantasy since The Mouse owns Aliens.
