In an upload titled "The power of makeup," Reddit user "munner83" publicly posted a picture of herself showing one side of her face with makeup and the other side makeup-free.
The photo was originally uploaded last December but has jumped to Reddit's rankings today. Reaction to the photo has been mixed, with about 5,000 Reddit users "up" voting the picture, while nearly 4,000 have "down" voted it.
As one commentator wrote, "She's so brave for opening up like that. This video made me cry because I totally know what she's feeling. People who don't have acne don't know what it's like to have your self esteem basically plummet every time you look in the mirror. I just want to give her a big hug."
Another user lamented that right or wrong, men often do not have the same cosmetic tools at their disposal as women:
"Now imagine you're a guy and you don't have that option."
What do you think? Was uploading the picture a brave statement about the sometimes-superficial nature of human behavior? Or does it speak to something else entirely?

I don't see the point of it. I have very high self esteem, and I know I'm not that attractive. This is just stupid. Who cares what you look like?! Let the haters hate.

I think she just updated this to show the difference make-up can make. The fact that it turned into a self-esteem thing is pretty dumb haha.
