RE: Bearer's Son Outraged at RAW

I haven't DVR'ed all of Raw yet but this segment sounds awesome. It's about time they did something with this feud that was actually interesting. No reason why someone's fake ashes should offend someone.

from what I read that was many people's favorite part, and the only part I truly enjoyed.

It seemed to me like the family didn't care about the urn. They've been doing that for weeks. So, i'm assuming that's the part that bothered them. I don't honestly care either way. I just said that was the part I didn't like because I was seeing it through his familys eyes for a second.

Bearer's Son Outraged at RAW

Nobody forced them to watch, either. They easily could have OK'd it and done something else with their Monday night if they thought it would be too tough to watch. I've lost someone very close to me recently and if I were in a similar situation I don't think I would want to be watching something like that unfold on television this soon after it has happened.

Some people just like to get offended.

Bearer's Son Outraged at RAW

The ashes scene was probably improvised by Punk and that might be what upset Bearer's son. Like Beavis said, he's probably still grieving so that was probably difficult for him to watch and a little too real for him.

What did they expect? :pity2:

Lol just a thought.

He needs to get a grip then, it's a show.

Honestly I don't feel like he should have to get a grip. I don't even think his comment was all that bad. The grieving process is not functionally defined - it's different for everyone and so many factors go into it. Just because it's a show doesn't mean it can't get personal. Some Superstars (like Swagger for instance) take on a persona that is very personal and can make people legitimately upset and offended. Bearer's son might have agreed to certain things but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a right to react in whatever way he wants to given whatever he's going through emotionally. How can we really define what an "appropriate", "normal" reaction would be to this? I don't think it's possible to do that.

If I was in the WWE's shoes all I could do is validate those feelings he's having and work with his son to find out what he deems as "going too far". Ultimately the WWE can't change what they don't understand from Bearer's son's perspective so I hope they consult with Bearer's son and family moving forward.

Odds are they will continue to consult with the family, but in this instance I can't see how that helps or changes things much. Honestly, to me the son doesn't sound upset or anything. He says that they did give them permission, and he doesn't come right out and say they went too far, either. He says the way they presented it to the family was OK, but that it was different seeing it on TV. To me that's just a no brainer. Of course it's different when you actually see the proposed set-up taking place on TV. That gets back to @"Dolph'sZiggler" and his point of not watching the show. They knew this was going to occur, so he could have not watched it. I know even if I gave the OK for it to happen, I wouldn't want to see someone dressed up and imitating my dad, especially so soon after he passed.

I don't see anything wrong with what the son posted, but also don't necessarily understand all the hype about it I guess. He doesn't say he's outraged. He doesn't even sound that upset. It seems like he's just trying to clarify for those who wondered that yes, they gave their approval, but that it's different actually seeing it played out on TV, which as I said, to me that just makes sense.

Anyway, regardless, with Bearer being such a huge wrestling fan, I would think that he would be perhaps both excited and humbled to know that even post mortem he gets to be a part of the show leading up to the biggest WWE event of the year.

You've certainly made some great points here. He might not be necessarily upset by what happened. I agree with you - I wouldn't want to watch that segment if Bearer happened to be my father but to each his own. Hopefully he was alright with it and that his family feels honored that the WWE wants to continue to use Bearer as the driving force of arguably the biggest feud of WM.
