So...let me make a few points straight off the bat.
1). I love Charlotte...She is THE Alpha Female of the WWE.
2). I think Sasha Banks is amazing.
3). I think Bayley is awesome.
Okay...just wanted to state that before I truly begin.
Recently Queen Charlotte and The Legit Boss Sasha Banks fought in the
first ever women's Hell in a Cell match which also headlined said
Pay Per View in the main event.
Now...even I will admit that the match was far from perfect...but it
was great to see this match finally happen...and it was also great to
see the ladies get the main event spot.
Now I will admit that even though I am a Total Charlotte Fanboy I knew
deep in my very soul that it was a moment tailor made for The Boss.
She would have retained her title, ended Charlotte's pay per view winning
streak and had her hand raised in her home town of Boston. You couldn't
write a better script right?
Well...WWE (and mainly Vince from what I hear) had others plans.
To my absolute shock...Charlotte won.
Now...I am a Total Charlotte Fanboy...but even I was shocked that WWE did
this. And the reason...WWE wanted to push a Charlotte vs. Bayley feud sooner
rather than later.
Now first off...that seems really unfair to Sasha. The woman has put on
some amazing matches with Charlotte and logic dictates that it was her time
to truly be "The Boss" of the Women's division.
Secondly...while I love Charlotte...she has held the title for long enough
and scored enough 'big" wins to cement herself as one of the all time greatest female
wrestlers in WWE history. Surely someone else should have a run right?
And Thirdly...and I just want to state again that I think Bayley is awesome...but she
hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire since her move to the main roster.
I once again go back to the triple threat match at Clash of Champions. Both Sasha
and Bayley looked like teenage girls fighting a full grown woman. Charlotte simply
has too much size, skill and ring presence to look truly threatened by Bayley...
at least in my opinion. In fact the only women who could truly match Charlotte
on a purely physical level are Nia Jax, Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch, Naomi, Sasha
(Just Barely) and of course Asuka (My God I can't wait for that match)
But you can already see it on the horizon. That Wrestlemania 33 moment where Bayley
wins the Gold by breaking Charlotte's Pay Per View streak as balloons fall from the
sky as everyone cheers for their lovable hero. Ugh...I think I'm going to be sick
from the sweetness of it all.
Now why you ask?
Let's really think about this...Bayley isn't...
As powerful as Nia Jax,
As dangerous as Asuka,
As cool as Sasha Banks,
As sexy as Eva Marie,
As athletic as Naomi,
As skilled as Natalya,
As charismatic as Alexa Bliss,
Hell she's not even a good all rounder like Charlotte and Nikki Bella...
But Bayley has one advantage over every other woman on the WWE roster.
She is marketable...and she is marketable to the one demographic that has always
been a hard sell as far as professional wrestling goes.
The young girl demographic.
You see...Bayley is the kind of wrestler parents wouldn't mind their daughters
dressing up as for halloween or buying them a T-Shirts for...or buying Headbands,
wristbands, arm tassels, socks, gym wear...all bright and colorful with a WWE logo
slapped on them.
Bayley is an innocent, shy, hard working, huggable wrestler who always plays
by the rules.
She can be a role model for young girls...someone they look up to and aspire
to be like...Bayley could be on ceral boxes and Television commericals...
Bayley could be just like John Cena.
Bayley could be the Next John Cena.
