It's got to be goldberg. You can't honestly blame him for the way he was booked? Batista clones himself on goldberg. Half his moves were stolen off goldberg and 40% more off british bulldog. Fuck if he draws out his matches more and let's opponents get offense. Nobody wanted to see that with Goldberg. WCW tried that a few times and it was boring. See Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Goldberg for that. Goldberg was a machine and it was the way he needed to be booked. He was the invincible and he did it even better than Hogan in his prime. Have you ever heard a Batista chant that compared to a GOOOOOLD BERG chant? fuck no. That's what made goldberg better.

Goldberg was/is a one trick pony. Once everyone got past the whole squash match stigma it was like "oh damn he can't work no wonder his matches are short". Kind of like Ultimate Warrior only without the awesome mic work. Plus when people did try to have competitive matches with him they got fired (see William Regal). If he would have been in more competitive matches it would have been better because it would have made him look even stronger than he did. And mentioning chants most of the "Goldberg Goldberg" chants were piped in.
I have to go with Batista. He's gone through kind of an amazing character evolution (no pun intended) from being Reverend D'Von's bodyguard to world champion material in about 3 years. Wrestling wise he's no Bryan Danielson but when he's in there with talent he can put on good matches.

His match against Hogan on Nitro was decent, and his feud with Bret Hart was very entertaining to.
As for the 'Goldberg Sucks' chants, if memory serves they came about after WCW had utterly crushed his overness with terrible booking. If you look at Goldberg as an athlete he wasn't actually that great in the ring, so when they took away his appeal as an unstoppable squash-machine all they were left with was a dude who was once-over who couldn't really work a proper match.

Goldberg was definitely better, he always made me think 'Wow, this guy is so damn popular amongst the fans'. Batista can't be compared to this Wrestling legend.
The electric atmosphere provided by the crowd surrounding the arena during a Goldberg match made it look awesome. Batista doesn't have the capability to attract the fans, he doesn't have the wrestling skills or mic skills either.

I'm gonna have to dispute some of that. Again, I hate coming across as anti-Goldberg, because like I said, he rules, but I have to stick up for Batista a bit too.
IMO, Batista is bette rin the ring than Goldberg, and equal on the mic. I can't see how anyone can say Goldberg was better than Batist ain the ring. On the mic just depends what you like I guess, but although I loved Goldberg's passion, and he could make simple words and lines seem great, IMO, Batista is better on the mic.
The fans thing you're pretty correct about though. Batista doesn't draw as many fans as Goldberg, not many do, but Batista does draw more fans than you give him credit for.
When Goldberg when into the ring he hurt people because he didn;t like how wrestling was so fake. Goldberg made you believe what was happening in the ring was real physically and emotionally which is exactly what a good professional wrestler does. Batista can't even throw a punch or sell one. He looks like an idiot when he's trying to sell something. Like a big dumb ape who just got bonked over the head. Batista over a long career in the spotlight has had one match that was above subpar. He had a 4 star with Undertaker which was like a 4 month program. After 4 months of wrestling each other I hope you can have a good match. Only reason people even give Batista props for that match is because hes so god damn awful and he somehow managed not to stink up the match. He's been given time and effort to excel and he's tightened up, but to call him a good wrestler is lol. Even the green Festus can show him a thing or two. There's no reason why we should let his size and age be an excuse for his godawful performances. Yes he has a good look, and limited wrestling capability. He's good enough to be a champion but to even compare him to the great's like Goldberg is just lol
I dont understand where all this disrespect from Goldberg comes from. Yeah the other wrestlers were whining about him, good for them. Goldberg raised the bar every time until he stopped caring. Batista barely meets that bar on the mic (what mic skills, he's awful on the mic) in the ring and even his presentation and gimmick. Only reason he's the animal is because Michael Cole had to find a way to soothe this guy over. He would just stand there emotionless until he was given the "unleash the animal" and the spear. To this day he can't even keep up a high tempo when he hulks up,. He's awful.

I have nothing against Batista, nothing at all, Batista is cool, but Goldberg takes the win right here.
When Goldberg would come out you knew you were in for a show. When Batista comes out, it almost makes me laugh, it's hard to take Batista seriously. He comes out and crouches down like he is dropping a deuce on the stage. That's only the first 5-10 seconds you see the man, let alone his performance in the ring. Sure, WWE tries really hard to characterize him, but he just isn't performing at his full potential.
Goldberg was just a badass. It was exciting to watch his entrance, exciting to watch him in the ring, the guy was just flat out awesome. He had the image, the moveset, and the chance he needed and took advantage of it and it paid off. He was in the right place at the right time and took over WCW turning it upside down. His WWE run was not THAT bad. He kept me watching, way more than Batista could.

I'm not pro-Goldberg, I don't really care for either tbh but Goldberg did have at least two good matches in WCW. Halloween Havoc with DDP was his best by far and I think there was a PPV match with Sting. It would be one of the earlier ones if not the first PPV match between them.
But I guess thinking objectively Batista is better over all. The guy has had at least more than two good matches.
