Backstage heat over Cena promo

John Cena's mocking of Michael Cole during last week's Raw did not go over well backstage. Brian Gewirtz scripted the promo and the general feeling is that he was playing to Vince, rather than doing what is best for the segment.

Vince is known for being tough on Cole, and Gewirtz used the promo to improve his relationship with the boss. Vince hasn't spent much time with the creative team lately, so it wouldn't be surprising if more stunts like this were to happen by writers to get in Vince's good graces again.

There's no heat against Cena for the promo, but there is on Gewirtz, who already had a bad reputation to begin with. Most members of the locker room view Gewirtz as a "nerd", and feel the only reason Vince likes him so much is because he has no life and can devote all his time to WWE.

I thought the promo was great, hilarious, really entertaining - do I really care who wrote it? Nah - Michael Cole could get lost searching for his testes and no one would care - and how the hell is someone who devotes themselves to something they love a nerd? If I had the op to work for the E I would give it my all too. But whatevs - let Cena talk about everyone.

I think you're thinking of the wrong promo. The promo where he said "Cole and Tazz over there" isn't the one this is talking about. That one was from SD.
The one that supposedly has heat (whether that's true or nto) was from Raw when he insulted Cole, although I forget what he said. I just remember being like "wtf" at the time.

These reports nowadays are just really dumb. Didn't Cena not like Cole, whether it was kayfabe, or not. I can care less. Unless this somehow leads to a Cole v. Cena match at Wrestlemania, I don't really care. As said above, this is all just to stir up shit.

Iirc, he was saying things like "let's get Cole out here, so we can call it all *monotonous* 'that's vintage Michael Cole'", and other typical Cole lines.

It gave me a smirk and didn't really take anything away from the promo. He was poking fun at Vickie and suggesting other people that could be substitute GM's who, though bad choices, would do better than her. He then ribbed those choices a bit. That's what charismatic Faces do, really.

Either the story is fake or some people in the back have no sense of humor. Or both.
