Did anyone else watch it?

A lot of great wrestlers we know and love fought in it, just a shame it didn't last longer than the handful of years it did. ESPN really fucked it in the ass, though, was hard sometimes to keep up with when it was on. ESPSN Classic was rerunning the episodes a while back, not sure if they still do. I think WWE Network even has some episodes left on there.

Not really a big fan of the AWA product personally. I respect it for it's impact in the business, and I love a lot of talent that went through it, but I'm not surprised it went out of business when it did. They just couldn't change with the times.

Yo now we're talking my shit.

AWA is the GOAT wrestling promotion of all time. People just didn't see how great it was and Verne diverting money to Lake Minnetonka instead of the company.

No love for Sensational Sherri? She was awesome in AWA, but, then again, she was awesome everywhere.
I saw a match where she was heavily involved in a cage match with Buddy Rose and Doug Somers against the Midnight Rockers in a cage......she no sold some asshole dumping beer on her.

Those mid-70's AWA shows are actually pretty good. Mad Dog Vachon at the height of his popularity was a sight to behold.

Mad Dog Vachon was only 5'7" and didn't have abs......clearly he wasn't over if you go by some of the logic here.

Seriously, what a match between Bockwinkel and Hogan. How the fuck do you mess this up so badly? It was the perfect time to make Hogan the champion. He was one of the most over guys in the entire AWA and Verne was a plain fucking idiot for not just giving him a run with the championship and see how it went.

Hogan could've been the champion and baby face Curt Henning would've turned heel and AWA could've had that program too.

There were a million possibilities for the AWA if they had Hogan as champion. The merchandise of Hogan alone would have made them millions and likely kept them going for much longer than until 1990. It was inevitable that Hogan was going to New York eventually, but Hogan winning the AWA Championship would have staved that off for maybe an extra year, enough time for Verne to have made millions.

Verne would've pissed it away on terrible real estate deals.

Ugh, don't remind me. That awful Lake Minnetonka lawsuit's what really killed AWA. Blow fucking millions away on a plot of land that you barely ever use. :done

I enjoyed the AWA. There is a lot of trash, especially the TV show but they had some great characters and ran a good live show. Maybe some of the best TV show interviews you will find in any promotion
