So I don't know how many A7X fans we have here there used to be a few but anyone been keeping up on them? I have so thought I'd post a lil news for those who aren't

First bit of news The Rev was givin the Golden God award by Revolver Magazine which is a pretty big accomplishment. The awards are set to air May 22 on VH1 Classic

Drum Workshop Best Drummer Award: Jimmy “The Revâ€￾ Sullivan of Avenged Sevenfold, accepted by his family (presented by Vinnie Paul of HELLYEAH and Pantera and Joey Jordison of Slipknot, Muderdolls and Rob Zombie)

Also knews on the drummer situation. RIP Rev.

I want our fans to know that with Jimmy in our hearts, our journey to record has officially began. Jimmy helped leave this world an amazing gift and now it's our job to make sure to deliver that gift to our fans. We asked Jimmy's all time favorite drummer Mike Portnoy to record on behalf of him. Mike said it would be an honor and without question that’s what Jim would have wanted. Its comforting to us that someone like Mike, who is undoubtedly revered as one of the best drummers in the world, held such respect and adoration for the Rev's abilities. Even though it will never be the same without our brother by our side, his essence lives in our hearts and through the music he helped create. He was a legend before any of the success or any of that bullshit and we are fucking excited to lay this down for our fans, and especially for Jimmy.
-Avenged Sevenfold

Im super pumped for the album as the things being said are really good thus far, supposed to be there best yet. Although it will never be the same without The Rev on it. Also what are they goin to do about a drummer when Mike Portnoy has to go back to Dream Theather. Also pretty cool he accepted to play with them as he's said to have been The Rev's favorite dummer.

I thought The Revs vocal skills were great and I also thought he wrote the best songs so I don't think their new album will be as good as their previous albums but I'm still looking forward to it. It will be be interesting to hear the difference without Jimmy.

All that Portnoy is doing is just drumming what is written out for him. It's just re-recording, not making it up.

So was The Rev actually good enough to get this award, or is it another case of being overrated due to being a corpse?

^^ It's pretty much this.

I laughed that day because all of a sudden everyone was throwing him in their sigs. I fucking love it when people don't say a word about the guy and then he dies and everyone suddenly sucks his dick.

If you want REAL drummers, go take a look at guys like Keith Moon, John Bonham and Ginger Baker, not this fucking smurf.

Some harsh stuff there. The fact is people didn't spaz out over him but he did have a pretty big following underground for sometime. Synyster Gates and The Rev have been said to be what makes the band good even by M Shadows himself. If you watch there first DVD he says he has no idea why they joined the band. WWE Talk now. Did Eddie deserve to be put into the hall of fame the year he died. Not really its done out of respect. The Rev has been making good music for 10 years and his death was young and unexpected so they did it as a tribute to him. But real facts he's actually really/was really good.

I never said he was an awful drummer. He's just not an amazing drummer like people make him out to be.

Rev is overrated and his death helped push that.

It's always a bandwagon when someone like that dies. People like to hop on and pretend that they actually gave a shit about the guy just so they don't feel left out of his overblown death. I'm just waiting for the Peter Steele posers to go throwing him in their sig while never, ever saying one word otherwise about him or his band.

See, if Jimmy Page died, everyone I know would know my sadness is legit because they all know he is my favourite. I don't just suddenly act as if I liked the band just because someone died. Most of these people didn't even listen to the music. That's why it's gay.

Ohhhh I get you know, yea that shit sucks, I wasn't a huge fan of Rev himself as much as the band as a whole and when he died part of the band died with him. I'm most deff not one of the posers as I seen them live long before this happened and have talked about how big of a fan I am, I even got the bad ass concert shirt that was my last 35 bucks at the show.

Jimmy Page cannot die. God can't die.

I was upset because one of my favourite bands had lost one of their musicians, and yes, I admit I had a sig of him. I would probably do the same if it happened to another of my favourite bands as well. Sometimes death can make you realize their talent, but his talents have been exaggerated due to his death.

First of all who's the dumbass that said A7X won't be the same without their singer/songwriter???? Tard. Shadows is the front man....Rev was the drummer...try researching before you comment ass.

Secondly who the hell put sand in Hotrod's vag? Jesus have some freakin respect for a guy that passed away way too soon. Who gives a crap if he didn't play "your kind" of music...the guy was uber talented. And fyi I love me some Zepplin and The Who...but they get a lot of cred for being the "firsts" to do what they did in rock. These younger bands and musicians are taking what Page, Plant, Moon, Jagger, Richards, and all the other founding fathers bestowed upon them and pushing the envelope even further. So don't you dare say a musician as talented as The Rev was over-rated.

Lastly, I'm a huge huge HUGE Avenged fan. Hell half my wardrobe consists of their t-shirts! My belt, chain, and wallet, all A7X. Posters, cds, hell even some of my "style" and tattoo artwork is taken with their direct influence in mind. So I guess maybe you could say I'm possibly the biggest A7X fan on Impact. I remember the night I heard he had passed. Got sick to my stomach. Almost like someone I had known personally had been lost. I didn't shed tears or anything...just kinda felt numb/off I guess you could say. I've been following them pretty heavily for about 5 or 6 years now. Love all their albums. Actually got to see them as one of the lower level headlines at Rock on the Range last May in Columbus, Ohio. They played a lot of stuff off the first 2 albums because that's what the fans wanted to hear. The crowd went f'n nuts when they came out! And I tend to judge bands on how well they are received by large crowds at a festival event such as ROTR. And there were some heavy hitters there last year....Alice In Chains, Motley Crue, Slipknot, Shinedown, Buckcherry, Saliva, Chevelle, and Korn...and Avenged came off with just as good if not more of a crowd response than any of those bands. But anyways, glad I got to see Rev in person before he passed. They won't ever be the same.....I'm sure the new album won't decline too much in sales, but the band itself will never be the same...which is really sad. Those 5 were basically brothers. You can't replace a brother. Blood is thicker than water.

1. Rev provided vocals on a fair few of the songs, and str8edgepunk was talking about how good his vocals were.
2. Rev wrote most of the stuff from the self titled album.

Maybe before you tell others to do some research, you should do some yourself.
