Cena is the guy for me because it comes down to 3 things

1. Credibility

Cena can be believed as a challenger to anyone. He has built his resume. He has earned his battle scars, cut hsiteeth, and fought for his place on every big stage and in any hostile environment. Everyone whether they love or hate him knows he can bring it, including the casualest of casuals. And again it goes back to who has Punk ever beat in his career clean? He went over Cena in a screwy fashion to get him to where heis, but he hasn't beaten A quality guys, and yes I'm saying Jericho isn't HHH, Taker, Michaels, Dave, Cena, or even Rey quality in terms of the win meaning something because he jobs too much to the wrong guys

2. Atmosphere

Make any excuse you want for Punk but he hasn't had that atmosphere he had last summer with any opponent but Cena. Not even Trips could get the same feel in their match. His mania match was quiet, people can make excuses but the fact is they didn't have the crowd like they should in that triple main event setting. Even now, his Jericho feud as some heat, but it isn't the same kind of heat that Jericho even had with Rey by simply demasking him. Cena gets a reaction, mixed, hate, love, whatever, it is always deafening in the building when he is put in a scenario and makes for great viewing on tv and even better in person.

3. He's earned it

Cena is the guy he is the one to bust his ass every night. He has been going harder since 05 than anyone on the roster not named Taker/HHH can even relate to. Cena is the guy working the most dates, filming movies, making the most wishes, and doing any interview with a smile on his face even when he logically feels like shit physically. He goes out there and he represents the company and himself well at all times. He is the utter professional. He is the guy who earned his way into being a draw, he earned his way into a relation. The belt was not handed to him to try and get him over like a Del Rio, a drug scandal like Punk, or to spite Brock like with Randy. He had to earn his shit and he never looked back after he finally got the reward. He became their best draw, he became a merch mover, he became the main attraction, and he became the big match guy who always out on a sow. Fuck the move or lack of wrestling bs, with the lights on bright he does his fucking job better than any full time wrestler on the roster and anyone who has ever seen him in person knows that. He is the ultimate showman. He is the guy of his generation. Because he is who he is, and the likelihood of a Rock, Austin, or Taker only having the one match left in them he has earned the right to be the first guy on the list to get that match over everyone else on the roster. It's real recognizing real, and with all due respect to every Punk fan, they even have to admit that Punk has not earned the right to possibly have Austin's one and only return match over Cena
My main issues with your reasons is no where in there once did actual quality get brought up as far as things that would entertain anybody. I think that is cause in part that you at least have to admit feud wise there is a lot more they can do with Punk/Austin than they can do with any other combo of Austin vs anybody else in the wwe. Your idea for Cena/Austin was they would face off for who is 2nd best ever next to Rock which is just laughably bad, incredibly lazy and the worst idea I've ever heard for a feud of that magnitude. Unless it pushed Cena to be heel which isn't too likely it would just be pretty boring in terms of what the feud would be about and the build up.

Setting aside the fact that I'd personally prefer Punk/Austin, the thing I don't like about this comment is that it implies the notion that WWE, as well as Austin for that matter, should only choose the match that is most lucrative for them as opposed to the quality of the match and fued, or what it might do for the chosen guy's career going forward for better or worse.

I understand Punk/Austin wouldn't look as good on a billboard as Cena/Austin or indeed any of the other names, but I'd personally prefer to see Punk chosen because I imagine the fued won't need much at all to take off and the clash of their in-ring styles would be like a dream come true to me. Basically, because I happen to think it will be the most entertaining.

I'm not knocking your preference at all (in fact I'd be happy to see Stone Cold wrestle literally anyone in his "one more match"). I've just never been able to wrap my mind around a fan wanting to see something based on what draws and makes most money for the company, rather than quality and entertainment value.

As for the actual topic, that's all I really have to say on the matter. Like I said, I think Austin's "one more match" will be great whoever he faces.

Think this just may be some sort of way to get Punk pissed about Austin saying that "maybe Punks not the right guy to go against" as countless times Austin has said that if he were to ever return for one match, it would only be against Punk.

That's the thing though, WWE decides their matches on how much they think it will draw. It's a business, and it's in the business' best interest to put out what's gonna make the most money. And I think that we're all in agreement that Cena vs Austin would draw more than Punk vs Austin.

Personally, I don't think either would be a good match technically. Austin is pushing 50, and even though he says he's not in too much pain, you have to wonder how will his body handle getting back into ring shape.

Even though I have the memory of that last Rock Bottom that kept Austin down in his final match, I would love to see Austin wrestle one more time. As long as its aganist the right opponent. And sorry to all the Punk marks out there, I don't think it's him

I'll say it. Cena is better as a big match performer than Punk so he can get a better match out of Austin just off story telling. Punk and Jericho on a rewatch isn't as crisp as Taker/HHH or Cena/Rock on their moves and transitions. Both guys blew shots and transitions. It isnt like he is Benoit or Eddie in the ring.

That's dumb Cena has been in way more big matches than Punk has so what kind of comparison is that? Cena has been in like 90% of the main events and big matches since like 05 so thats pretty invalid to me. You're discrediting Punk based on one match comparing it to Cena's whole 7 year main event stretch of being in all the big matches damn near. You gotta realize how silly that sounds.

Punk has had BIG matches in his career (He and Trips didn't deliver for me either), and it is safe to say his best performance came with Cena don't you agree? Cena to me is the logical choice because he will put on a better show in the ring, keyword being show, and that in turn will wrap the crowd into it much more which is what Austins return match deserve. I just see Cena getting far more out of Austin at this age, with almost 10 years away from the ring beside TE, and having a better showcase for the fans to remember.

Whether people like Cena or not, think he can wrestle or not, and so on they remember his wars. There are far more memorable battles for Cena even a non ppv standing than there is for Punk and others because he is a showman first and was even in his Midgard thuganomics days. And he is damn good at it, just like Rock, Michaels, and others were. I don't get that from Punk in the ring YET on the wwe level.

I never said Punk never had big matches but he hasn't had enough to question or praise when it comes to the wwe esp when it comes to mania. Yea his best wwe match may have been with Cena but in no way was it a carry job as they both brought it at a high level.

Point is how are you going to know if anybody else can bring it in a big match situation if they aren't given the chance? Cena didn't overnight become this really good in ring performer matter of fact once upon a time he was deemed horrible by the likes of HHH and HBK. If they went by your logic Cena would have never had shots at getting big matches and HHH would be headlining every PPV still. Punk is still young but not gonna be young forever so gotta cash in on his prime years esp if you any another big star that isn't name John Cena who is active every week.

I' am in no way discrediting Cena all I"m saying is Cena doesn't need this match mostly because he just had the big dream match with Rock and is the first guy Brock is feuding with in his return. Don't have to give Cena everything. Austin coming back for a match against Hornswoggle at mania would sell just cause it was Austin's comeback match so the drawing aspect shouldn't even factor in here. If you got a chance to not only create a special feud but at the same time put Punk on another level just for being in a match with Austin let alone if Punk actually won why pass up on that opportunity?

If Stone Cold was to return for a one more match then I think these are the opponents for him

CM Punk: Punk despite being a bit quite of late is still the hottest thing I think on Raw that isn't a special attraction ie Brock Lesnar or Rock, and their styles would work well plus Punk would be able to take care of Austin in the ring some of the other guys would not be as careful as he is.

Undertaker: These two have history and they have never clashed at Wrestlemania I would love to see these two going at it one more time

Brock Lesnar: We have yet to see a match between these two and I think Wrestlemania is the time to do it wish it was at WM 30 so it could be 10 years since Lesnar and Goldberg got layed out with a stunner.

Goldberg: WWE's top star vs WCW's top star

Hulk Hogan: Would have to be a gimmick match but its still one that people would want to see.

As for Cena for the love of god he is just too smiley faced and lets everything run off him like water If I were Austin I wouldn't want to see Cena smiling like a goofball and I would bet my bottom dollar that if he did Austin would say screw this and rip into him.
