REVIEW 18/05/17

'Ricochet vs Will Ospreay BOSJ 24' AurtleTheTurtle Reviews said:
The crowd already know this will be a good match, lots of chants for both competitors as they make their entrances. Slow chain-wrestling soon becomes incredibly fast with the two debuting brand new spots intertwined, Ospreay denies Ricochet's kip up and stank eyes him for a good pop, more chain wrestling including a twisting kip up rana from Ospreay and the two do their dueling handsprings spot, I didn't pop because I've seen this spot upwards of twenty times now but the crowd gave a round of applause, Ricochet begins to constantly shut down Ospreay and dominates him for a solid ten minutes with some crazy and very innovative submission, inlcuding what can only be described as a kneeling head trap brock lock, Ricochet chops the shit out of Ospreay for some swearing from the brit and a lot of comeback heat from the crowd, Ricochet denies a handspring enziguri with a gorgeous dropkick but then ends up eating won anyways a few minutes later, Ospreay tries to go for the Os-Cutter but Ricochet just straight up pushes him out of the ring to deny him, Ospreay does a slightly botched rana to bring Ricochet outside followed by a picture perfect Sasuke Special. Ospreay starts his comeback with his second rope spiral tap but Ricochet kicks out, Ricochet with a gorgeous flapjack onto the apron followed by jumping neckbreaker and then rolling through to deadlifted a seated Ospreay into a suplex but Opsreay reverses into a stunner, Ospreay signals for the comeback but out of nowhere Ricochet hits a brilliant axe kick that Ospreay sells like death and gets a huge pop, Michinoku Driver II but Ospreay kicks out for another pop. Ricochet goes to the top but Ospreay counters and tries a top rope frankensteiner which Ricochet flips out of into a weird spot where Ospreay seemingly jumps onto the second rope for no reason so he can do his flip out of an avalanche rana spot for a pop but Ricochet botches the run up the ropes. Quick striking exchange which ends with one of the best release germans I've ever seen from Ricochet and both men sell for standing applause. After some slow elbows, Ospreay fire ups and hits a very Kawada esque combination of low kicks and high chops that all connect wonderfully. Crazy lariat from Ricochet leads to the outside where the two try to give the other a poison rana on the floor but both keep countering. Both men end up on the apron and holy fuck Ricochet does his northern lights into deadlift suplex on the apron to a giant pop, Ospreay botches making the 20 count whilst selling, he was late and would have be counted out if there wasn't a generous pause from the ref. Ricochet makes a mess out of trying to do Ospreay's twirling leg lariat but does a great Os-Cutter to follow but Will kicks out, Ospreay then hits Ricochet with the GTS-Kick but Ricochet kicks out. Ospreay hits the cheeky nandos kick and then follows up with a beautiful springboard dragonrana for a 2. Frustrated, Ospreay just repeatedly kicks Ricochet in the face and then follows up with his twirling leg lariat and then a Os-Cutter for the 3. Post-Match Ricochet crawls out and Ospreay cuts a promo laying down from exhaustion.

Incredible match marred by some botches that were mostly on Ricochet's side, would have been a MOTY contender if everything went off without a hitch. 8.5/10

I just got through watching Kazuchika Okada vs. Minoru Suzuki in Beginning in Sapporo. For a wrestler who's in his late forties Suzuki can really put on a match! He was twisting Okada's legs in those leg locks. How was Okada able to stand after this match was over?

If I had to give my own rating for this match I would rate it 3.75 out of 5. The match was going so smoothly until Suzuki's stable of wrestlers Suzuki Gun came out and interfered in the middle of the match.

UPDATE 11/06/17 - Dominion 6.11 Edition

NJPW
  • IWGP World Heavyweight Championship: Kazuchika Okada (c) vs Kenny Omega, Dominion 6.11 - 10/10
  • IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship: Hiromu Takahashi (c) vs KUSHIDA, Dominiom 6.11 - 9.5/10
  • Best of the Super Juniors Final: KUSHIDA vs Will Ospreay, BOSJ Finals - 9/10
  • IWGP Intercontinental Championship: Tetsuya Naito (c) vs Hiroshi Tanahashi - 9/10
  • IWGP Junior Tag Team Championships: Roppongi Vice (c) vs The Young Bucks - 7.5/10
Might as well give my ratings of these matches here:
NJPW
  • IWGP World Heavyweight Championship: Kazuchika Okada (c) vs Kenny Omega, Dominion 6.11 - 4.75/5 Not as good as the 1st one but still amazing
  • IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship: Hiromu Takahashi (c) vs KUSHIDA, Dominion 6.11 - 4.50/5 Awesome match.
  • Best of the Super Juniors Final: KUSHIDA vs Will Ospreay, BOSJ Finals - 4.25/5 Great Match.
  • IWGP Intercontinental Championship: Tetsuya Naito (c) vs Hiroshi Tanahashi - 4.25/5 Great Match. Very impressive considering Tanahashi just came back from injury.
  • IWGP Junior Tag Team Championships: Roppongi Vice (c) vs The Young Bucks - 3.75/5 Good match but a bit disappointing. I was expecting a bit more from them.
I don't watch NJPW as often as I want to/should, so I'm not as invested in the characters as others.

Dominion was a very good show. You should definitely watch it if you haven't.

Personally Hardy vs Bucks at Supercard of Honor was my favorite. Then again I was there in person and those dueling chants were fun
