I'm on sequence 10 right now. Just finished a sea battle (which are broken and annoying as fuck) and it seems like I'll be finishing the main story soon.
Gotta agree about the bugs, the game was undeniably rushed. They're noticeable immediately as soon as you begin the game. People's mouths don't move when they talk in some cut scenes, other times they just don't match what they're saying, there's very awkward camera positioning during some dialouge scenes where instead of focusing on the speaker's face it aims at their crotch, there's even a part while you're playing as Desmond where you're standing literally right next to that chick and her voice has radio echo/static as if she was on Desmond's headset. Really quirky things like that, but they become less common towards the second half of the story.
Although Assassin's Creed has never been completely historically-accurate, some themes in this game are just lol. Particularly that of a Native American aiding the Patriots in pursuit of liberation and freedom is just
I also find myself failing to obtain 100% synch on most missions because quite frankly I have no idea what goals I have to reach. The objectives flash very quickly and only at the moment you have to be weary of them instead of prompting you with a freeze frame prior to the mission dictating all parameters like it used to.
There's also some extra things to do like upgrading your homestead and trading and obtaining recipes, etc but I have done none of this stuff beyond what you're required to in the main story because I have yet to find any use for any of it or find a way to incorporate any if it into my game.
I'm not a fan of the unnecessarily complicated nature of the assassins guild either. The only option I use is the traditional "assassinate" option, and even that's rare. I'm sure I could put this to more use than I have, but again, I just never feel it's necessary.
The story is good for the most part and a lot of it might have you flocking to Wikipedia to brush up on your American history, which is something this game accomplishes well. But I feel it sends mixed signals story-wise and gameplay-wise. The main character Connor is just not nearly as likeable or even as understandable as Ezio. I never was clear on what makes him want to fight for American freedom. I don't think it's ever explained, honestly. And the game works very hard to establish this huge, open-world masterpiece of the 1700's east coast, but many of the missions are extremely linear and leave little room for any sort of variation (or deviation).
Raiding forts is still fun, even though I often end up screwing up and tripping an alarm that turns the entire place into a complete war zone, but I suppose my lack of patience can be blamed for that. There's some odd missions though, like "dog-killing". I mean fuck, even though you're doing it because they have rabies, that's just not fun. The liberation missions can be fun, but they get repetitive. Most all of the main missions warrant a second playthrough, but often it's because you're trying to get 100% synch and a lot of these missions are just flat out impossible to nail flawlwessly the first time.
I enjoy the game still, and I definitely like it more than Revelations. It's nowhere near AC2 unfortunately and the game's deadline is undoubtedly to blame. If Edios Montreal put 2 years into this game instead of just 1, it would have been a shoe-in for GOTY. But I guess they figured they stood a better chance going unopposed by GTAV in 2012 instead of 2013 when Rockstar will likely win everything it's qualified for.
