Obviously every one know about the bad situation with the Intercontinental Title right now. BBut this week it got worse. Anyone notice that Chris Jericho, the intercontinental Champion, came out tonight and didnt even have his freakin belt? What does that say about the value of the belt! I couldnt belive it. And on top of that, his match with HBK at JD isnt even a friggen championship match. Just wow....

Anyone notice that?>

And the second part of the question. Should Y2J be champion, when he clearly doesnt need it, or should it be passed on to a younger guy, maybe Cody Rhodes to jumpstart his career?

And with that being said, should it be used like it is now as a hangover belt, for people who arent in the ME right now, but are top guys (like Jericho)
Or should it be a stepping stone to the title like in the old days?

Which way do you think would bring back the prestige to it. Answer the 3 questions:)

I think they just gave it to Jerichp because Hardy got suspended. I would love someone like Cody to get it but only if he freshens up his moveset. Just someone who is a midcarder who would take pride in the belt and defend it and not get put in other feuds with someone not revolving around the belt.

Well I didnt notice him without the title because RAW hasnt been aired here yet lol, but its such a dumb title that I don't think I would have noticed anyway...

I think they should have Jericho lose the title to Paul Burchill somehow to boost his career and have him hold it for quite a long time and get some good fueds out of it. that should make the title be cared about a bit more, thats my thoughts anyway.

The Intercontinental Championship should be 5 years ahead of people who are going to win the World championship. I don't see Cody Rhodes ever being a World champion. It should definitely be a stepping stone.

Its sad that they don't use it to its full potential right now. The Intercontinental belt is steeped in rich tradition and shouldn't be treated in this way. It should be just under the World Championships and way ahead of the US Championship in terms of the pecking order. Right now its treated like its at the bottom of the pile.

With the demise of KOTR, we as WWE fans really have no way of knowing which young wrestlers are destined for big things. It literally launched Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Steve Austin & The Rocks careers.

I would like to see someone like Paul Burchill, Mr. Kennedy or Carlito holding it right now, with regular title bouts at least every PPV. Y2J should be fighting for the World titles.

There is the limit, now the Intercontinental Championship means absolutely nothing to WWE, it's just a filler championship belt. I was surprised when Jeff Hardy said he is back on RAW to win the Intercontinental Championship! :disgust1:

They should do something and should actually use this Championship...

I haven't seen Raw yet :( I wish I hadn't just read that last post.

Jeff Hardy would be a good contender for the belt though. He needs to earn his way to a World championship spot again. Hes the face of the company if hes the champion of Raw.

Hopefully Y2J will move into main event status and we'll get some good Intercontinental bouts again.

^ yes, the US title, and 2 world titles and maybe the ECW title(not really) are the only belts that really mean anything. the IC title is nothing, the womens isnt bad but its stupid how it switched on a RAW show and the C/W title has already been thrown out and well, tag titles = dead basically as well. I say they gets the IC title back by using all the young talent and try and make the ECW title something or if not that make something out of the tag titles...

because Y2J HBK isn't a title match...it pretty much means that HBK is going over. I saw a thread on another forum where someone suggested that they have an HBK Jericho ladder match for the IC title as a co-main event and put the title on a heel HBK. Sets up IC feuds with HBK vs. Kennedy/Hardy/Jericho/Punk

Yeah, the IC title has really become a joke. Not even carrying the belt out just further fuckin degrades it. "OOPS! FORGOT IT AT HOME!" I would say Hardy is probably getting it back judging by his promo and his near fuckin squash on Umaga which was insanely shocking.

Jericho is on a roll. There is no way in hell I see him losing at Judgment Day.

I feel bad for Viva! who apparently has the Intercontinental Championship in his signature and the classic one as his avatar, damn.

Tbh, it further degrades the championship... :wink_7:

I always preferred it when the IC champ was essentially the number one contender.

I know this is my own thread but Ill post again:)

You know how everyone has the idea that because the tag team division sucks, maybe they should combine the tag belts. Well what if they combined the two midcard belts (IC and US) and just kept one. It might raise the prestige and get more competition. IDK if I would like it, just though Id throw it out there.

I always preferred the idea of unifying the world titles and having the IC and US titles effectively be the top belts of the respective brands.

Well as they are using the "toys" versions of belts more often these days.. I think they will sell the titles to whom ever wanted it, no need for number one contender matches anymore :p jk..

but seriously, I think as i always thought of from the start; that those "mini titles" should be given to the new guys. Legends and big veterans of the company shouldnt be given such a title reign with those coz they won benefit them in any way whatsoever.

I dont agree that it should be given to Cody, coz man he is just lame as LAME itself.

Now for the title being under-rated recently, is just coz I think that WWE is not finding its path in developing the mid-card to have it as strong as it had like atleast 5 years ago. Why? coz all the mid-carders in the past 5 years became main-eventers. So its like difficult and might take more time to establish some strong upper mid-carders, which i think they are doing right now with Mr Kennedy.
