Anyone ever used a straight razor?

Recently I've been using a double edged safety which has been a great improvement on the cartridge razors I've used before (well beyond my carelessness when shaving without a proper lather causing a slight knick above my lip.) but I've been reading up about how these are supposed to give an even closer shave and generally be smoother so does anyone have any experience with them?

You're not the only one lol, there is still a chance I'll pussy out before payday lol but the technique seems pretty simple to master, mainly letting the blade offer weight rather than pushing down.

Made me lol but modern razors really don't work out too well for me, the shave is terrible with most cartridge ones.

Planned on reading up / watching loads of tutorials before I jumped in but I always find it's better to only research so far then going for it, always help me learn better once I understand the basics to actually do it if that makes sense.

Agreed on AOM also, that's what really encouraged me to move to the DE lol.
