I've been watching since 2002. I'm not going to sit here and lie (like half of the ppl. On the forum) and say that I've been watching wrestling since the attitude/ECW days.


My question is.... Which old school matches should I watch? I wanna get into old school AWA, NWA, WCW, WWE/F type shit. Sorta around the time where PPL. Like Steamboat, Harley Race, old school flair and shit.

Anyone want to recommend me some old school matches, that would basicially get me a better understanting of the old days.

some of you are 15 and 16 and say you've seen it all. Ya maybe on youtube.

I was always watching wrestling, my older brothers can vouche for me there. but what actually caught my interest and made me watch every week was WCW. They did things better imo.

Oh and 1997 Great American Bash Chris benoit vs Meng in a death match. Benoit wins after locking in the crippler for like three minutes. foreshadow?

Some ECW things that you might want to see

Eddie vs. Dean Malenko - was so great they both got a standing ovation after for like quarter of an hour.
Shane Douglas vs. Tazz
RVD vs. Jerry Lynn
RVD vs. Sabu - All
Foley vs. Funk
Foley vs. Sandman

Some WWF stuff from before 2002.

HIAC - Undertaker vs. Michaels
HIAC - Undertaker vs. Mankind
Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart
Owen Hart vs.Bret Hart
The Rock vs. Triple H - Ladder
Rockers vs. Heart Foundation

Those are just some random ones that come to mind.

Ditto on Benoit vs. Sullivan in WCW.
If you haven't seen Steamboat vs. Savage at WM 3, watch it. Especially with Steamboat going into HOF.
Find some of the DDP vs. Raven matches in WCW. Very underrated.

I'd also second Evil Austin on watching some Shane Douglas in ECW. He wasn't the best wrestler but he was very very important to that company at the time and Vince has sort of whitewashed him out of ECW's history. But as someone who watched it, The Franchise and Triple Threat was important.

Speaking of Triple Threat, watch some of Bam Bam Bigelow and Taz.

Well...I'm sure i can compile a very long list... However the easiest way to follow the wwe back is to follow the WM box set. That's kinda how i started. Back in the day of VHS, i used to rent a wrestling video every week. Never bought a PPV ever. ( although i'd chip in over a buddys house or something)

But Here is a couple of my favorite matches (non-WM):


- Bret Hart vs British Bulldog SummerSlam 92

- Ric Flair vs Mr. Perfect Raw 93 (On the Raw 15 years DVD)

- Royal Rumble 92

- Yokozuna vs Undertaker Casket Match Royal Rumble

- Hogan vs. Undertaker (Survivor Series/ Tuesday in Texas)

- Any WCW with Flair/ 4 Horseman / Sting / Vader

I think these matches stand the test of time
