Antonio Inoki undergoes Emergency Surgery
Even though his body weight has rapidly decreased, “I’ll be fine in no time” he expressed, with the goal of eventually being discharged from the hospital.
Previously, when he had surgery for his deteriorating hip, Inoki who was hospitalised since January, had been managing to get through the ordeal. According to someone involved in taking care of him, there was suddenly a twisted loop in his intestines and emergency surgery had to be performed. The surgery was safely executed, aver since his hospitalisation in January, while transferring between different hospitals, he has been hospitalised for almost six months while transferring between different hospitals. He continued updating everyone on his Youtube Channel, “Antonio Inoki”, with a video titled “The Final Fight”. From the top of his bed while wearing his pyjamas, he showed his current state and condition. As expected, he begins each video with “How are you!”, and even on his siSincesent greetings to everyone.

Ever since his hospitalisation in January, while transferring between different hospitals, he has been hospitalised for almost six months. He continued updating everyone on his Youtube Channel, “Antonio Inoki”, with a video titled “The Final Fight”. From the top of his bed while wearing his pyjamas, he showed his current state and condition. As expected, he begins each video with “How are you!”, and even on his sickbed, he sent greetings to everyone.
However, ever since his latest video update on 21 May, he has stopped providing updates. The video had been shot beforehand. In the meantime, Inoki was struggling and fighting against a disease that had slowly caught up to him.
Today, Inoki reached out to us by calling from a hospital in the city. Regarding his own condition, he explained that “Finally, it seems like I’m recovering”, and his recovery and recuperation seems to be going well. While the tone of his voice may seem to have worsened, his rhythm when speaking seems to not have changed, especially compared to before hospitalisation.
Currently, the hospital is not allowing any visitors to the hospital in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus. Hence, only a very limited number of staff are allowed to have contact with the outside world. In the midst of all this, Mr. Inoki has been lying on his bed and developing ideas for what he wants to do after he leaves the hospital.
