NoDQ.com > TNA > Spoiler: Main event revealed for Slammiversary
Posted by Mark Virginia on 05/17/2010 at 09:08 PM

While King of the Mountain qualifying matches were scheduled to take place on tonight's Impact tapings, it sounds like TNA has either changed the main event plans for Slammiversary or the King of the Mountain match, if it happens, won't be for the TNA World Title.

It was just announced at tonight's tapings that Sting vs. Rob Van Dam for the TNA World Title will take place as the main event for Slammiversary.

Stay tuned for full spoilers from tonight.

:*( I won't settle for one with it being non-title, that would be lame. That is like Ultimate X's for the big red X, it's just not the same.

About time they got rid of the damn KOTM match. What a stupid match.
But how does TNA follow up a good decision? With one that makes Baby Jesus cry; RVD/Sting. Yuck.

^^^I agree. It's your second biggest ppv and it's main evented every year with a 5 man clusterfuck. Although the match can be entertaining. I still prefer a one on one match but Sting? At least make him win a #1 contender match.

They should still use KOTM for the X title.

If they aren't going to have a King Of The Mountain match as the main event, they should at least use it exclusively for the X-Division. As for the Sting/RVD main event, I'm not interested to see it and would rather see someone new get a main event spot. That is obviously a foreign concept to this company however, so I guess I shouldn't keep my hopes up

While I'm not sad to see the end of King of the Mountain, a horribly flawed stipulation match (a penalty box - seriously?!?) I have absolutely NO interest in seeing RVD vs. Sting, let alone for the TNA title. Perhaps 10 years ago, but not today.

Looks like we know why they didn't put this on Lockdown. Maybe they were actually planning ahead and had this saved for a big event.

I've totally forgotten that Sting attacked RVD 5 months ago and I suspect I'm probably not the only one, either. I'd say this match comes more from grasping at straws than from any long term plan by TNA.

"Hmmmm, what can we do for Slammiversary....."

"How about Sting vs. RVD? We haven't done that yet."

"Yeah! Didn't Sting attack Rob half a year ago for no real reason? Perfect! Book it!"

I'm sure that won't be the sole reason, but it'd certainly help in the build-up if done right. We haven't seen the show, so we can't really decide how good or bad the setup was done.

I am still all for the KOTM match at Slammiversary, but they still won't put Jeff in a World title match. Jeff beats Kennedy on PPV. RVD retained. As much as I hate face vs. face, this match would sell BIG TIME for TNA on a big PPV like Slammiversary. NO. They put Sting into it. Lame.

LOL, nothing screams TNA ANNIVERSARY more than RVD vs. Jeff Hardy
