BTW Silva is apparently out until 2011 so I'd assume that they'll do Sonnen/Belfort in the interim.

You're delusional, keep an open mind. Shit like this can be fixed, I mean look at boxing. UFC is also a form of entertainment, it isn't always real. It's an MMA fight, why would someone take punches? You can risk getting KO'd, Silva is not that stupid. Its not WWE.. why couldnt Silva just sweep him and go for the submission earlier? He had to go for it in the last round, so the world can be shocked. They want people to think "Holy shit, Silva is a true champ" and you buy into it. There are COUNTLESS fucking options to why he took a pounding for four rounds. Chael Sonnen did (successfully) what no one else has done in a long time - he disregarded the 'fear' Silva puts into his opponents striking and went at him. He managed to tag him a few times, got him to the ground and dominated. Silva was over come with what was going on, and he was lucky to pounce on a mistake made my Sonnen in the final round.
I'm still not taking anything from Silva NOR Sonnen. Both guys REALLY showed that they are the best fighters in the UFC (maybe world, don't pay attention to any other companies). To think that they were trying to get people to think "Silva is a true champ" by having him get owned for four rounds then get a sneak submission is dumb. I never once thought that. I was shocked by the submission, but if you noticed the fight earlier in the night (Struve V Morecraft) - ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME!

If you actually watch the fight you would know that Silva had his hands COMPLETELY down when Sonnen was striking at him. Right at that moment you can tell something fishy was going on, you're never supposed to put your hands down because it can easily result in a knock out. Everyone knows Silva has better take down defence than that I mean come on. If it wasn't fixed Silva would had blasted him in the first round, but he got tagged and left his hands DOWN. Tell me some of those "countless" reasons someone would keep their hands down and just take punches while standing up. UFC is starting to become like boxing now, having fixed fights to gain a figthers respect back and hype a figther up. It's all about money bro. Silva pretty much didn't do shit until the last round, so the world can be shocked. That's why you have to think outside of the box, you closed minded fucktard.
Its kind of obvious if you look at it like this.. Silva pretty much got dominated for 4 rounds, taking a shitload of hits and barely doing anything, and at the end he managed to get a triangle.. why couldn't he had done that earlier? He had to do it near the end of the fight so everyone can be shocked.

I'd love to see your proof that fights are fixed "all the time." You are imo trying to make this into something that it isn't. Yes, MMA is entertainment, but it's also a sport, and unlike professional wrestling there are other athletic activities that do keep sports and entertainment sepeate.
However, I would not be shocked if a fight here or there is "fixed" in MMA, Boxing or even big time sports games, with all the money invested in sports wagering It wouldn't shock me one bit if some people go to extreme lengths to make sure the outcome is what they wish it to be.

They have the final say medically. If he's cleared to fight, then no damn excuses. 100%, 90%, 80%, your ass is in that cage, you better be ready to go when the Ref says "FIGHT". Im not saying Anderson was or wasn't, but the excuse shit in MMA doesn't hold water in my eyes. I don't buy the lucky, fluke, injury, etc.

The 1995 Ypsilanti Lincoln team tournament to be exact. I wasn't 100%, but I still went. Don't make much from it, it's just an analogy and nothing more.

Paul Filho in the 1st fight caught him in a submission and in the second fight Pualo missed weight. Where is Paulo now? Hes fighting in shitty organizations. If people like me will be laughed about for thinking this way, people like you would be laughed at for believing everything you see on TV. You just don't want to admit the fact that it makes sense. Now they are talking about a rematch because it will generate more money. I know Sonnen is good, but that whole fight just seems rigged to me.

Next, and Im sorry, but if you seriously think that the first Filho fight wasn't a complete bullshit stoppage, then you my friend believe everything that's on TV. You know damn well Chael NEVER tapped and NEVER verbally tapped. I've watched the fight several times and he was saying no, no, no. That does not constitute a Verbal Submission under the Unified Rules of MMA. The first fight as well, Sonnen was beating Filho, deny it all you want, but you know damn well it's true. Next, at that time, Paulo was still considered one of the top 185lbers in the world, you know damn well Im right. Next, during that time in Filho's career, he was in a bad place with opiate addiction. I know the feeeling because I battled it for 4 years. Maybe he's not fighting in the biggest promotions, but it doesn't matter. Filho still holds a 20-1 record with wins over notable fighters. He's gradually working his way back up the ladder. Eventually, you'll probably see him in Bellator fighting Hector Lombard. But I guess Lombard isn't that good either because he fights in a smaller promotion than UFC or WEC right??? That defense doesn't hold any water.
You bet a rematch will generate money. If the fans want it, GIVE IT TO THEM!!! I know Vitor supposedely was next in line, but the UFC has screwed guys over who were supposed to get title shots before. Think along the lines of Karo Parisyan when was supposed to fight Hughes but lost his title shot because of injuries suffered during fight prep. He never did get a title shot that he fairly earned. They knew the fans would want a rematch if they fixed the fight the way it did, so it looked like Silva won by luck. Well obviously if a flash KO happened it isnt fixed, but it didn't happen though did it?

MMA can be fixed. I'm not saying it is, or isn't, but it's been talked about and could easily be done. I think if it has been done, it's been done in the underling feds and probably not as often or majorly in UFC. But anytime a sport can be judged that leaves the door open to corruption. It's alot easier to fix a boxing fight because of it being more open than the UFC since UFC is a privately owned company, but once the bubble bursts on MMA and fighter's realize their name value is worth more than what the UFC is paying them (the Lesnar's, Silva's and GSP's get peanuts compared to the Paquiao's and Mayweathers and Klitchcos) and perhaps just a governing body over MMA is put into place and individual promoters come into play, MMA could become as corrupt as boxing.
It just seems far fetched because MMA is in it's infancy and has yet to explode in the way boxing did at the turn of the 20th century and when people think of MMA, they think of UFC, when UFC is just a promotion . But once MMA becomes an even bigger global sport, as it's poised to be, and fighters realize they can earn bigger money signing contracts with single promoters as opposed to entire promotions and an actual sanctioning body appears, then the talks will run rampant, but this can be many years away.
BTW, Pumpt, since you are the most knowledgeable person here, how does a fighter like BJ Penn, with a 15-6 record, very pedestrian, keep getting so many main event and title fights? I mean most guys don't get but maybe one main event fight and after like 4 losses they get axed, but BJ is always around the top of the crop. If there is any indication of inside UFC collusion he is the best evidence, at least to me. Why is it he get's so many chances to shine with such an average record?

With BJ bro, you can't just look at the wins and losses, but you have to look at who he's gone against. Since he came on the scene, fans and pundit have said the guy is one of the top 5 Pound for Pound in the World. He was only the second guy in UFC history to win titles in 2 weight classes. BJ has fought as high as 205lbs before. When he's on his game, he's unreal. His flexibility is almost superhuman and has fantastic boxing. He really does. When BJ lost to Jens Pulver it stoked his fire at the time. He was the first to finish Takanori Gomi. Then comes back to the UFC and bumps up to 170 and submits Matt Hughes in the first round to take the 170lb title. When Penn beat Hughes, Hughes had defended his title successfully 5 times up to that point.
When he left the UFC after a dispute with Zuffa (the parent company of UFC/WEC) he fought up at 205 against Lyoto Machida and Machida had to go to the judges to score the win. He also took out 2 Gracies (Renzo and Rodrigo). He comes back to the UFC and becomes obsessed with the 170lb title (a title he never lost) and quickly lost back to back fights to Hughes and GSP. When the UFC finally brought the 155lb title back, Penn was an obvious choice. He got his revenge on Pulver by submitting him, then in the title fight, he beat the hell out of Joe Stevenson before he submitted him. Then comes the UFC 155 regular/interim unification bout with Sherk and he beat Sherk up. I mean he did. Then comes Kenny Florian. A guy many fans thought was the guy to end BJ's run, and he again, beat up Florian and submitted him. That right there I think really cemented Penn's status at 155. Diego Sanchez comes up next, and it wasn't even fair. BJ nailed him with a solid punch in the first round and then just dimantled Diego after that. When he fought Edgar, I was torn because I had followed Frankie since he came to the UFC and had been impressed with him. I mean the guy beat Tyson Griffin in his first UFC bout. When I seen that, I knew Frankie had something. Edgar is no joke.
When you look at Penn bro, you have to look at who he's fought. He's fought a who's who. He doesn't shy away from anyone. And BJ really is one of the best in the game today. Trust me bro, I didn't like the guy for a long long time. I was a diehard Matt Hughes fan and was pissed when he beat Hughes for the title. But I always give credit where credit is do. Penn is the type of guy who can fight anyone and probably do well against them no matter the weight. Tall order I know, but I've seen it through his fights. BJ has wins over the former PRIDE LW Champ (Gomi) and has defeated 4 former UFC champions in Hughes, Pulver, Sherk, and Matt Serra. Then add in he's gone the distance with the former UFC 205lb champ (Machida) and a split decision loss to the current UFC 170lb champ (GSP) in their first bout. Really goes deeper than wins and losses. I didn't agree with the immediate rematch, but if Edgar wins again, BJ will have to win at least 3 or 4 fights before he gets another title shot. Trust me bro, Penn is the real deal. Some hate him, some like him, all in all, he's that good.
