The dumping of the ice bucket is so that there would be content that would potentially go viral to raise awareness of ALS (aka Lou Gehrig's Disease).. it went viral and now ALS is seeing the biggest influx of donations in years.

It's supposed to go like this.. someone nominates you for the challenges.. if you refuse you donate $100 to ALS.. if you go through with the challenge you donate only $10 and then nominate 3 more people who have to answer the challenge within 24 hours... because of the worthiness of the charity most people are doing the challenge AND donating more than the required amount.

Helping to potentially find a cure to a disease affecting thousands of people around the world is definitely not whack no matter how's it done.
