Agree with Juice if you can counter claim a role you can counter claim a character. Good players should work around it

Pretty ironic, I would consider catching mafia based on what character they claim to be playing the game on easy mode. Having to catch them based on their play is much harder!

I can absolutely dismiss the possibility based on having played Flay games before, and having played games in this section for 6 years and never having seen hosts not give mafia safe characters to claim unless either A) they don't allow character claiming at all or B) the alignments are vague and scum characters could be just as feasibly town as town characters

And lastly, not having safe characters doesnt make the game any "harder" for mafia, it is literally entirely luck based in that instance on whether they claim something that doesn't exist in the game. There's nothing hard or skillful about that lol

That's not true, many people have caught mafia based on play on D1. In fact I'd say catching mafia based on how they enter a thread is pretty fruitful
