His Memphis days were phenomenal, but should a 30 year old world champion have to cheat to beat a 60 year old announcer?
If it was a normal RAW/ Smackdown match then no. But since it was a PPV, the match carried an extra hype, any other normal show, it would have been a face commentator vs heel wrestler match in which the heel dominates beats the face. But in a PPV it was designed to be a Legendery Old wrestler wearing his wrestling shoes again to teach a heel douchebag some lesson. If miz won it fairly then most of the fun and hype of that match would have been gone and the fans would have been let down because they wanted to see the lgendery Jerry The King Lawler not the announcer Lawler.
And it doesnt really matter to me. Putting all booking issues aside, all backstage heat aside, all comments from other wrestlers aside, all face or heel gimmicks aside, i just dont see miz to be a star material, his mic segments are boring and basically revolve around how awesome he is instead of the actual matches and storylines, his in ring skills are far from good, hes pretty slow in the ring for a wrestler his age, he looks like a frog and isnt at all intimidating, all in all i dont see him as anything more than a midcarder tbh.
The only reason he got a heel push was because his gimmick and image suited him really fine.
