As earlier reported, Christina Aguilera’s performance of the US national anthem at the Super Bowl last night hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Most notably due to her forgetting the lyrics of the iconic song.

Perhaps feeling the strain from the media, the 30 year old singer released a statement regarding the performance.

Check out what she had to say after the jump…

“I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place. I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.â€
One can’t but feel sorry for Ms. Aguilera. I mean, of all the people for this to happen to (see: ‘Bionic’, divorce, ‘Burlesque’). Sigh. Here’s hoping her fortunes take a turn for the better this year.

Christina Aguilera will open the Grammys this Sunday -- her first performance since flubbing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl this past weekend.

Aguilera will pay tribute to Aretha Franklin alongside Jennifer Hudson in a show stopping number, according to industry blog Wayne's World. Three additional artists from different genres are also expected to take part.

Franklin is also expected to make an appearance on stage to downplay reports she's suffering from pancreatic cancer, adds the blog.

She can fuck up as much as she likes as long as her NBA Finals record remains perfect for LA. That damn girl is perfect in every year dating back to 2000 that the Lakers have been in the Finals as she has performed the anthem in Staples :)

They should also be glad that she didn't start rapping it like she did during the NBA ASG years ago

She also is being honored for her philanthropy and creativity by MusicCares, the foundation run by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences that aids musicians.
Streisand performs only sporadically, usually for charity and rarely in such a live, public event such as the Grammys. She last toured the United States and Europe in 2006-2007 in a show that set box-office records.

The Grammys are about to get a double dose of hip-hop star power. The elusive Dr. Dre will make his first live television appearance in more than a decade at Sunday’s awards.

The legendary producer will join his protégé Eminem on stage for what is likely to include a performance of “I Need a Doctor,” the first single from his long-awaited album Detox, confirms The Hollywood Reporter.

Ten-time nominee Em is also set to perform material from his Album of the Year contender Recovery. In addition, Rihanna, Drake, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Janelle Monáe, B.o.B, Christina Aguilera, and Jennifer Hudson are among this year’s performers.

The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards will air live from Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday, February 13, at 8 p.m. on CBS.

Christina Aguilera Arrested on Public Intoxication

The ‘Dirrty’ girl was booked for public intoxication at 2:45 am this morning in West Hollywood after her boyfriend, Matthew Rutler, was arrested for driving under the influence. Aguilera was said to be so intoxicated that she was “unable to take care of herself”.

Read details about the incident below:

Aguilera was arrested at 2:45 AM and booked at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s substation on a misdemeanor charge. On the booking report, Aguilera was listed at 5′2″ and 100 pounds.

Aguilera’s 25-year-old boyfriend Matthew Rutler was also arrested last night at the same time for a misdemeanor offense. According to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, Rutler’s bail was set at $30,000.
Law enforcement sources tell us Aguilera appeared to be “extremely intoxicated” and was “unable to take care of herself.” However, the source adds, “If the driver had NOT been arrested for DUI, [Christina] would have never been in trouble.”

Sources close to Xtina tell us they have been trying to get the singer into a rehab program for weeks

Christina is slowly going down that same spiral britney went down it seems. As far as Pink, I feel she has a point as far as how the media probably seen all three artists when they first stepped on the scene.

Christina Aguilera Heads To NBC; Joins Cee Lo Green & Adam Levine As Coach On 'The Voice'

Christina Aguilera has signed on to be a coach on NBC's upcoming singing reality competition, "The Voice."

The news comes just a day after Aguilera was arrested for public intoxication, but not charged.

Christina joins previously announced coaches Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5's Adam Levine.

The Grammy Award winning superstars will serve as coaches on the Peacock's new musical competition series, which premieres on April 26 at 9 PM, and will be hosted by Carson Daly.

"I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it," Christina said in a statement. "To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists' careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms. I am so happy to be working with fellow Grammy Award winners Adam and Cee Lo as I feel there is so much we can all bring to 'The Voice.'"

A total of four coaches will be a part of the "The Voice," a reality singing competition that will feature mentors picking singers during blind auditions. Once the coaches have their teams, they will bring in their own songwriters, producers and industry pals to help their teams evolve, NBC announced.

Talpa Productions, Mark Burnett and Warner Horizon Television produce "The Voice," and Mark said Christina was his first choice for female coaches.

"When I decided to produce 'The Voice,' I immediately knew that my first choice for a female coach had to be Christina Aguilera," Mark said in a statement. "Christina has a perfect voice and is an undeniable force in the music business. She is the epitome of 'The Voice.'"
