FORWARD Brett Ebert has signed a new contract with Port Adelaide, tying him to the club until the end of 2011.
The 24-year-old has kicked 144 goals in his 92 games for the club and was taken in the NAB AFL 2002 Draft as the club’s first and only father-son selection.
The strong-marking Ebert had an outstanding 2007 season, leading the club’s goal kicking with 56 goals, and has backed that up this year with 29 goals from 13 games.
Port Adelaide coach Mark Williams said he was delighted to have secured the signature of one the club's young guns.
“Brett’s improvement over the past couple of seasons is a real credit to him,” Williams said on the club's website portadelaidefc.com.au.
“To now be at the point where he’s earned a long-term contract with our club says a lot for how far he’s come, and is a credit to our development program as well," he said.
Ebert, a product of the Port Adelaide Magpies, returned the praise to his senior coach.
“The way he (Williams) has worked with me has been outstanding, he’s a great coach,” Ebert said.
“It’s great to be able to stay at the same club and stay with the same bunch of guys and the same coaching staff. The club has shown a bit of faith in me, so now it’s up to me to repay that on the field.
“We’ve still got six games to go and we just want to finish off the season well by getting some wins on the board.”
Ebert FTW!!!
