Shahid Khan, in particular, had reservations about creating a wrestling promotion. He told Forbes, “I absolutely didn’t think this was a good idea. But I told Tony, ‘Look, when I’m dead and gone, I’m going to be leaving you and your sister a lot of money. Why don’t you blow some of that while I’m alive?’” However, the father-son duo pressed forward, undeterred by naysayers. The result? AEW's rapid rise and undeniable success. The promotion's blend of fresh talent, engaging storylines, and fan-focused approach has resonated deeply, dispelling doubts and making AEW a legitimate contender.

Wow look at that, a direct quote.

Wait so we can't criticize Vince for his transgressions outside the ring because WWE is profitable? Is that what I'm understanding?

also not being in the black at the end of the year doesn't mean a bunch of other money didn't come in. tax breaks etc also aply. and finally, yes, most businesses take tears to be in the black, let alone one that has expanded so rapidly in costs. the article and tk have also said they have been bringing more revenue than any other year. finally the valuation of the brand is relevant because that's partly what companies pay for - no different than why so many ppl want to work with wwe. it's not just because ratings are good for wwe, it's because the BRAND itself is valuable

aka they bring in money
Not to mention, I literally explained in the end that AEW produced an enormous revenue. $250 million is not nothing. Just because Tony chooses to spend more than he’s bringing in doesn’t negate how much money it makes and once the TV rights comes in which is only gonna be another year or two AEW will be making plenty enough profit but these people just don’t care about facts.

exactly, unless you are an investor, brands that want to work with aew only care about 1 thing = twill this brand help me bring in more money. they dont give a flying fuck if tony made a dime at the end of the year, the only person who cares about that are tony and his accountant

If I was a billionaire and my son had like a legitimate passion, for something that my money could legitimately, bring him joy and fulfillment. I would be the same way. Why do I want to make my son wait until I’m dead when I could literally see it with my own eyes and know that I was doing that from my son or daughter.

The numbers are what you think they’d be in terms of rankings and where everyone stands.

Although I probably would’ve guess UFC was a little higher

To be fair I don’t think this particular argument is that it’s terrible. He just can’t wrap his head around that some billionaires that are in their 70s aren’t still thinking about how can I hold as much money as possible even if it means fucking over my kids. You know like the one that sold his family company instead of letting his daughter inherit it.

I guess it's offensive to some when billionaires have a shred of humanity remaining, Fair enough
