ALL ELITE WRESTLING: REWRITING HISTORY

When CM Punk went off in the All Out post-show media scrum, unleashing a scathing rant on his role in Colt Cabana’s fading position on the AEW roster and his feelings towards The Elite - it caused near irreparable damage to AEW’s locker room and future atmosphere. That was further amplified when CM Punk and his trainer Ace Steel engaged in a fight with The Elite, an event later to be dubbed “Brawl Out”. It not only hurt AEW’s image, but it meant several months without four of its top names due to injuries and suspension.

..But what if none of that happened? What if CM Punk never tore his tricep at All Out, further giving him more fuel to the fire to leave in a blaze of glory? What if CM Punk simply never spoke about The Elite? What if this whole issue about rumors towards Colt Cabana’s usage in AEW (as funny as that sounds) was cleared ahead of time? Nor the issues between “Hangman” Adam Page and CM Punk, where Page viewed Punk as an invader to AEW as a whole, and Punk never perceived Page as going into business for himself?

All Out 2022 goes as planned, with just a couple of “tweaks” suggested to Tony. The entire trajectory of AEW has changed.. And the focus now moves to where it rightfully should be: CM Punk vs MJF III, for the AEW World Championship.

So with all of these changes being made.. What exactly does All Out 2022 look like in full? What awaits AEW after that?

Well, you’ll just have to wait and see as history is rewritten.

AEW ALL OUT 2022
September 4th, 2022
NOW Arena in Chicago, Illinois

The commentary team of Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Taz welcome everyone to All Out, live from a very rabid crowd in Chicago, Illinois. As the card is ran down, they remind everyone of the high stakes AEW World Championship main event between current champion Jon Moxley and the challenger, Chicago’s own, CM Punk!

And speaking of the AEW World Championship, the first match of the night is the Casino Ladder Match where the winner will receive a future AEW World Championship match at an event of their choosing!

jFxX_-NmOXIroV-B5eplFs0lOtUlhvTxr89JY4CTjnhHmHF4qLcK9tTjm338U0G4nkKQXqUI1fY5B1L5EdF0OxLVz9pOpEaJeVCDvXUJ-VIGlMt_aLcR7na_hnW_oD6jFSbvnr6MSoRzenm2TSd-nnA

Match One:
Casino Ladder Match
Winner Receives Future AEW World Championship Match
Claudio Castagnoli vs. Wheeler Yuta vs. Penta El Zero Miedo vs. Rey Fenix vs. RUSH vs. Andrade El Idolo (w/ Jose The Assistant) vs. Dante Martin vs. JOKER

This match is about as chaotic and packed as you can imagine, as all seven men fight their asses off for that Casino chip hanging above them. There’s no waste in motion from start to finish, as alliances are formed within the Blackpool Combat Club, Lucha Bros and La Faccion Ingobernable - and sometimes things break down between allies!

By the end of it though, it appears both Claudio Castagnoli and Dante Martin are close to closing in on a victory that would further ‘make them’ here in AEW, until six men in masks storm the ring and clear the ring with ease. Those six men unmask one by one, revealing to be: Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn, Lee Moriarty, W Morrisey, Ethan Page & Stokely Hathaway… Stokely climbs the ladder taking the chip down, and with their job done for, they turn to the stage…

*SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL*

Where the JOKER finally arrives. The man in the mask struts down to the ring. He swings in and Stokely hands him the chip, thus ending the match and declaring the JOKER of the match the winner, and he didn’t have to do a single thing..! He teases unmasking, but holds off on it as he and his new allies exit to the back, leaving a state of confusion amongst the crowd in Chicago as they speculate who that could be, and what they just saw…

Winner: The Joker @ 14:11

Match Two:
AEW World Trios Championship Tournament Final (Don Callis joins for commentary)
The Elite (Kenny Omega & Young Bucks) vs. Hangman Adam Page & Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & John Silver)

The first ‘proper’ match of the night, as emotions immediately run high for these two teams. While the Young Bucks have ended up on amicable terms with Adam Page the past couple of weeks, the competitive spirit is there for all three as they give it their all. It’s a big performance as Reynolds and Silver as they try pulling out all the stops to help Hangman obtain another championship in AEW - and their first title in general.

The highlight of this match is Kenny Omega and Adam Page’s first encounter since their title match at Full Gear nearly a full year ago. They bring the heat and every strike thrown by both men gets the crowd on their feet. As their back and forth is finally cut away, ring rust may get to Kenny a bit as he nearly lets the victory slip out of his hands against Silver and Reynolds. The Elite finally pull it together and pull off the big time victory, becoming your first ever AEW World Trios Champions, leaving Hangman Adam Page with a lot to think about, as The Elite are leaving All Out your victors..

Winner & New World Trios Champions: The Elite @ 19:51

Match Three:
AEW TBS Championship
Jade Cargill (c) (w/ Leila Grey & Kiera Hogan) vs. Athena

The first women’s match of the night, as Jade Cargill looks to grow her impressive 36-0 undefeated streak over Athena, while Athena looks to mark her first AEW PPV match with a big boom by being the first to dethrone Cargill.

It’s the ultimate battle of power vs speed, inexperience vs experience. Despite the fact that Athena has been on this stage before, Cargill’s determination and dominance is something never seen before in AEW - let alone US women’s wrestling in general. Despite Athena’s best efforts, Jade gets it done in relatively quick fashion after countering Athena and hitting her Jaded for the three count, raising her streak to 37-0.

Winner & Still TBS Champion: Jade Cargill @ 5:00

Match Four:
Trios Match
Wardlow & FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) vs. Jay Lethal & Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) w/ Satnam Singh & Sonjay Dutt

The action continues on, and coming from iMPACT - one of the greatest tag teams of this generation, the Motor City Machine Guns make their AEW debut! It’s a bit of dream match action for FTR and MCMG while Lethal and Wardlow do just enough to help out their teammates.

The presence of Singh & Dutt is a constant annoyance throughout the match, giving the Motor City Machine Guns and Jay Lethal the advantage. But with the crowd on their side, and seeing a threat to their respective thrones - FTR & Wardlow continue to fight off the makeshift TNA team.

By the end of it, Wardlow clotheslines Lethal out of the ring, giving FTR the perfect opportunity to plant Sabin with the Big Rig, and get the win.

Winners: Wardlow & FTR @ 13:26

Post-match, it’s a bit of a heartwarming moment as Dax’s daughter Finley gets revenge over Sonjay Dutt for how he mocked her leading up to and during this match. Wardlow & FTR celebrate with their gold, and considering they didn’t defend their titles on PPV.. What could be next for them?

37jyQkr3R-qzfF9TjjoZF3rDNsvevHZZDox-1HYup-h5hdQtjvgW6tn7SBL5QtCSvHVhwK_kGEQzTIR7x8TUGG3COhMnxCvZLRFV7xNK8f3fT7nbsR1tQc99_wLvY0v16juBdfTu6ZkdPuwc6RW-I4I

Match Five:
Singles Match
Ricky Starks vs. Powerhouse Hobbs

Here, this match does live up to the expectations coming from their heated back and forth leading up to this match. It’s an absolute dogfight from the moment the match starts, as all they want to do is get their hands on each other. The fight goes on both in and out of the ring, as the referee is struggling to control these two.

Hobbs' power starts to overwhelm the heart of Starks though, as despite his lust for revenge on Hobbs, it simply isn’t enough to stop a man of Hobbs’ stature. For every hard hit Starks gives Hobbs, he takes an even harder hit back. Starks starts to struggle to endure the pain coming from Hobbs, but with the Chicago crowd on his side - he manages to start fighting back!

In the end, it’s not enough though. Hobbs is the smarter wrestler here as in the final stages of the match, Starks tries to inflict as much pain on Hobbs as possible with a Spear through the barricades, but instead gets caught with a Spinebuster on the hard floor, favoring Starks previously injured neck. Starks gets in just before the ten count, but gets scooped up for another Spinebuster - this time putting him out for the count.

Winner: Powerhouse Hobbs @ 10:05

QiFNH5rq8EQmwU3ALSmNVgdR_KkUv6OChPd0Kz7walyBvOGAxkduUM6MVxAsW8OL44qT53XcLhOD7tvmsf6r_mvQJx3sUOu4ciYVFZN49EBzzjboMwoDSnx2Ea5yR8u_Yv4MATGQlyYGqiSDi7bLgyU

Match Six:
AEW World Tag Team Championship
Swerve In Our Glory (Swerve Strickland & Keith Lee) (c) vs. The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) (w/ Billy Gunn)

An already rowdy Chicago crowd somehow gets even rowdier as their support for The Acclaimed is at an all-time high. Whether they want to give it off or not, the tag champs end up a bit rattled as they make mistakes they usually wouldn’t against a very game and determined Acclaimed.

The veterans Swerve In Our Glory take advantage that they have been on this big-time stage before, and work their strategy to perfection as they take out the knee of Anthony Bowens. This doesn’t stop him, nor Caster though, as Caster begins to fight off the two on his own - and shows incredible resilience and heart. Bowens gets back in the match and The Acclaimed bring it every chance they get, obtaining near fall after near fall.

As the match reaches its end though, the Swerve Stomp / Spirit Bomb combo doesn’t go quite as planned due to miscommunication from Keith Lee & Swerve, and the increasingly hot Chicago crowd unleashes potentially the biggest pop of the night, when Bowens nails Swerve with the Arrival, and Caster flies off the top rope with the Mic Drop to win the match - making The Acclaimed your new AEW World Tag Team Champions, in what stands at the time being - your match of the night.

Winners & New World Tag Team Champions: The Acclaimed @ 22:27

hYxtSzUBZYu5GQOK2a6XIDdsI7268biSoHFh1bPjUkUxLIIECm7f7f7NNDUXJ4tzppJVJRBPRnQIti1A1lLIQUP6n1BITfQM4PKuGg9QuFh7M8NgqmPwtPobw_wRr0wSDA2q2PQLSlY8lkbNP0LC87w

Match Seven:
AEW Women’s World Championship
Toni Storm vs. Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. (w/ Rebel) vs. Jamie Hayter vs. Hikaru Shida

The vacant (not interim) AEW Women’s World Championship is on the line, as four of AEW’s best women’s competitors right now step up to fight for championship gold. Britt Baker and Hikaru Shida fight to see who will be the first two-time women’s world champ, meanwhile Toni Storm & Jamie Hayter are looking to obtain their first AEW Women’s World Title in general.

It’s action-packed from the get go, as the stakes of this match aren’t forgotten by any of these women. It’s no surprise that Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter spend a duration of the match teaming together, but a bit of miscommunication shows some cracks leading into the later points of this match.. Toni Storm & Hikaru Shida are on fire though, as they bring the absolute fight to the two, as frustration builds for Britt & Hayter as this teaming together thing isn’t working out.

The ring clears out towards the end of the match, as it starts to devolve to one on one matches as all four women pick their opportunities at different times. After Hayter floors Shida, it seems she’s about to pick up the victory - until Britt Baker slides in and rolls her up! Hayter kicks out and there appears to be dissension between the two, until Toni Storm rolls in and shoves Britt into Hayter, knocking her out of the ring. Britt and Toni have a couple of close calls, but it’s Toni Storm who WINS the vacant AEW Women’s World Championship with her Storm Zero on Britt Baker!

Winner & New Women’s World Champion: Toni Storm @ 14:43

siUdQzsY0NmZg0Av1p4dDP36C-ZfoD3KOx8nNNGe1aunIfsYIRjKDyd1fooFqhpTyfRO2SqYjAcsHPHkDHGbVDHFlLoELCZNg1_b5ZiHK1hT-boDhaQbYcxze8WLEd0uoUVSlo5gRAL__WkhajTYnU0

Match Eight:
Singles Match
“Jungle Boy” Jack Perry vs. Christian Cage (w/ Luchasaurus)

A highly hyped up match due to the bad blood coming from these two men, Jungle Boy walks into this match thinking that Luchasaurus is on his side, but it ends up that it was a ploy all along, as Luchasaurus officially turns on Jungle Boy! He lays him out with a vicious chokeslam on the stage - and then OFF of it!

Luchasaurus drags a hurt Jungle Boy to the ring, and Christian wastes no time, dropping him with a Spear. He lifts Jungle Boy up and then drops him with the Killswitch - and just like this.. Christian Cage is your winner of this match, going quite the complete opposite of what people expected.

Winner: Christian Cage @ 0:24

It’s an unceremonious ending, as Christian Cage and Luchasaurus head to the back, with Christian celebrating such a short victory… And you’ve just gotta wonder what’s next for Jack Perry.

Before the next match begins, Jim Ross arrives for commentary - set to commentate the final three matches of the night.

BFhpaXW5GaggfDpCB-2cFXVfLPUsQ-1Ds9Vh9J7fax7LMp7VUJCdoCrWnOkhGgBadDxg8JJF5pmgBnGK1ip-SEjvkUY_edz9WYh5JZM8zGVv-MjZzB7ymkuyYrm6sNB2CNbrlujEQ2mjnI6YPrWgvp4

Match Nine:
Singles Match (Jim Ross joins for commentary)
Bryan Danielson vs. “Lionheart” Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho walks into this match with something to prove as he faces Danielson under his old “Lionheart” persona. For the most part, it is a wrestling clinic between these two men, as they try out different holds to try and work one another down. They spend the first couple of minutes in this match jockeying out for position, as no one really holds the advantage yet.

As the pace starts to rise, it is Danielson who is starting to give Jericho trouble - but Jericho gives his best and slows Danielson down. But every time Danielson is slowed down by Jericho, he comes back even quicker! Danielson leaves Jericho reeling, as commentary is questioning whether Jericho is in over his head trying to prove a point to Danielson about ‘pure wrestling’.

Jericho keeps it up though, but as the match starts to break down..? It appears he goes back on his word as the Jericho Appreciation Society are involved! Daniel Garcia is there, as 2point0 and Jake Hager distract the referee. Jericho barks orders at Garcia, demanding that he hand him his bat ‘Floyd’, and as Garcia holds it out to Jericho.. He hesitates?! The hesitation takes too long as Garcia finally hands the bat to Jericho, but by time he turns around - the referee is looking dead at him!

Jericho drops the bat, protesting the referee’s call to potentially disqualify him, and he turns right into a Busaiku Knee from Danielson! He wastes no time, rolling Jericho over into the LeBell Lock, and Jericho has no choice but to tap out!

Winner: Bryan Danielson @ 16:22

The Jericho Appreciation Society tends to Jericho, while an expressionless Daniel Garcia watches Danielson celebrate the victory. Has Daniel Garcia made a decision on whether he’ll leave the J.A.S yet or not?!

Match Ten:
Trios Match
House Of Black (Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews, Brody King) (w/ Julia Hart) vs. Darby Allin, Sting, Miro

While the trio of Darby Allin, Sting & Miro may come across as odd and off-putting to some, they have a common enemy in the name of the House Of Black. House Of Black’s experience teaming with together and cohesion helps them out in the early goings of this match, but the intensity and fire that awaits them on the other side is something that may be unmatched by most of the roster.

Darby’s do or die attitude, Miro’s unstoppable power, and Sting’s fire and persistence keeps them in this match as they begin giving troubles to the House Of Black. A highlight of the match is a staredown between Malakai Black and Sting, but it doesn’t last long as the House Of Black get back in the fray and help out Black. Miro and Darby get back in, and the match devolves into all out chaos in the ring as Bryce Remsburg struggles to break this mess up.

It’s chaos all the way to the end, as Malakai shockingly gets a taste of his own medicine as Sting spits the mist in his face, thus blinding him and allowing Darby to come in and pin Malakai with the Last Supper pinfall!

Winners: Darby Allin, Sting & Miro @ 12:11

Darby, Sting & Miro celebrate their victory - and while it may be tense between the two, the focus is more so on House Of Black and it seems things aren’t looking so up for them right now…

rXMh6uSi4WbV2LbxfBKobJZXM3PJa9nYCJenWiKTJvs1BfgmnsmqQkDHjBCDS1IyFO1ObZ35BwDdNgHHCkxQtq-LHmh9vXsYqT2nhSnlZLRh_aKPPlpzn82ntgaYGwJ5EBz_p4_D6_dvWygs5cSl3bE

Main Event:
AEW World Championship
Jon Moxley (c) (w/ William Regal) vs. CM Punk

It’s finally main event time, and this crowd couldn’t be anymore united. The hometown hero CM Punk takes on Jon Moxley in pursuit of winning his world title back in his hometown, and the big question here is.. How good is CM Punk’s ankle?

The bell rings and very quickly it turns into a slugfest. Moxley tries to go for the ankle of Punk, but Punk is wisened up and keeps him away - instead bringing the fight to Moxley through other means. It’s an all out brawl, spanning from the ring, to outside the ring, to even the crowd!

By the time they get back to the ringside area, both men are a mess as they’ve given their all already, and the match continues on into the ring. Moxley finally gets the ankle of Punk, and it seems he’s closing in on a victory now. Punk is able to once again fight off Moxley though, fueled by the Chicago crowd cheering him on.

The ending comes after Punk’s attempt at a GTS is thwarted by Moxley targeting the bad ankle, and hitting a Paradigm Shift! He rolls Punk over for the three count, One..! Two..! Punk raises a shoulder! A shocked Moxley looks around and as he looks to end it, Punk hoists him up for THE GO TO SLEEP! Moxley is still lying ontop of Punk’s back, so he hoists him up for ONE MORE GTS! The cover! One..! Two…! Three..! CM Punk gets it done in Chicago as your new AEW World Champion, to a huge ovation!

Winner & New AEW World Champion: CM Punk @ 19:57

The roar of the crowd fuels a bloodied, tired, and hurt CM Punk to rise up to his feet and take the AEW World Championship. Punk rises it up high above his head, taking in his victory.

BLACKOUT.

The lights are out, prompting yet another roar from the Chicago crowd as they collectively have an idea of what’s about to come next. Playing through the speakers is a recorded message of Tony Khan on the phone, then a montage of CM Punk saying in ROH: “The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing you that he didnt exist.”

LIGHTS ON.

The lights come back on and CM Punk stands alone in the ring. And as he looks around, he realizes that he’s surrounded by the group of Ethan Page, W. Morrisey, Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn, Lee Moriarty and Stokely Hathaway - the same man who helped the JOKER win the Casino Ladder Match.

CM Punk places his title down and raises his fists up, and the six enter the ring and pounce on Punk! Punk tries his hardest to put up his best fight, but he’s quickly outnumbered and brutally beat down. The six waste no time to make an impact, completely holding the show hostage as the Gunns and Morrisey YANK the top turnbuckle off! Stokely, Moriarty and Page force Punk up, and the Gunns and Morrisey slam the metal side of the turnbuckle into Punk’s face! Punk crumbles to the ground, completely knocked out. All six of them stand above Punk, and slowly turn to the stage…

The focus goes back to the screen, as the masked man, the JOKER is shown. He turns his back to the camera, and pulls his mask off - and there’s only one man who that could be… “I AM THE DEVIL HIMSELF.” He says, as the screen cuts off.

*DIG DEEP*

Despite the fact that their hometown hero is down, there’s a mixed reaction for MJF who makes his way out, holding the Casino Chip. He has a sinister grin on his face, as he stops to flip off the crowd - which starts to prompt much more boos than cheers.

MJF enters the ring and stares at Stokely, shaking hands with him. He nods to the six and All Out comes to a close with MJF and his new friends standing over an unconscious CM Punk.

*SHOW END*

(no media scrum, haha)

Nice summary and recap. I also like the change to have the Acclaimed win early. In real life very hard to call an audible but not being limited by that, great choice to speed things up and get the titles on the GOATs.

Good start with this dude!

Agree with Roy, the correct call to have the Acclaimed win the titles here. This was the point where it should have happened IRL so it's cool to see you pull the trigger earlier and roll with them.

Very, very intrigued to see where you go with MJF and this group. IRL it was a complete mess to me and just made little sense so I'm looking forward to seeing what you do, and the continuation of the MJF/Punk feud of course which is money!

GFX & Layout are nice and simple. Good start man! I'll be reading and supporting a fellow AEW 'BTB' :)

EDIT: Let me know if you want me to delete my earlier post above if you want your roster page closer to your opening post.

Glad people picked up on this, it was more in line with my future plans and general sense to just run that decision at All Out how it should be. Should help make these next few months a little more seamless for the tag division.

AEW Dynamite (9/7/22) Preview

On AEW Control Center, Tony Schiavone helps break down what’s set to be a very interesting episode of AEW Dynamite following a very successful All Out event. Live from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo New York, what is next for AEW as the fallout from All Out is made clear on Dynamite? And this is especially considering that AEW Grand Slam is coming soon!

Set for Dynamite, MJF will speak for the first time in three months - and joining him will be his new group of Stokely Hathaway, Ethan Page, Lee Moriarty, W. Morrissey, Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn, who all helped him win the Casino Ladder Match and lay out the new AEW World Champion CM Punk - as MJF now holds a future title match with Punk at a time of his choosing.

Also, it’s no rest for the weary as The Elite will be in action fresh off winning the AEW World Trios Championships, as they defend their newly won titles against Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor, and Trent Beretta - the Best Friends! There’s no doubt that this is going to be a high intensity matchup, as the Best Friends seek their first championship gold in AEW.

At separate points in the show, it will be time for celebration for the new AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm, and the new AEW World Tag Team Champions, The Acclaimed! Stay tuned to see what these two champions will have to say, respectively! Toni Storm will be interviewed by Tony Schiavone, while The Acclaimed will be given a live mic to celebrate their victory!

The TNT Championship will also be on the line, as Wardlow is looking to make up for not defending his title on All Out by having an open challenge for anyone to take on - and it appears that Lance Archer has signed the contract! It will be Wardlow versus Lance Archer in a monstrous match for the TNT Championship!

But not only that, but there will be a triple threat with heavy championship implications, as Kiera Hogan, Riho, and Nyla Rose face off in a triple threat to determine the number one contender to the TBS Championship! The champion Jade Cargill will be watching closely, and it’s a no-brainer that she’s pulling for Kiera Hogan to win this one…

But most importantly, Dynamite’s main event! The ROH Pure Championship will be up for grabs, as champion Wheeler YUTA takes on the hometown boy, Daniel Garcia in a big time matchup which pretty much sets the tone for the future of AEW! Two rising stars in AEW, this is a must-win for both, especially Daniel Garcia who has been the topic of conversation as it pertains to his relationship with Chris Jericho and Bryan Danielson, and after he prevented Jericho from cheating at All Out, will the Jericho Appreciation Society be in his side this match? Or better yet, will he need them?! It’s a lot of questions to be asked, and you’ll find them out on Dynamite in this BIG TIME MAIN EVENT!

It’s an action packed Dynamite in store, and that’s only what’s been announced! There may be more, and that may not even scratch the surface of what else is set for Dynamite! And be sure to watch through the show, as the Rampage card will be revealed on it!

Quick Card (announced matches):
The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson) [c] vs. Best Friends (Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor, Trent Beretta) - AEW World Trios Championship
Wardlow [c] vs. Lance Archer - AEW TNT Championship
Kiera Hogan vs. Riho vs. Nyla Rose - AEW TBS Championship Number One Contenders

Wheeler YUTA [c] vs. Daniel Garcia - ROH Pure Championship
