AEW Match of the Year!

Well, AEW has had it's FINAL SHOW OF THE YEAR! So what does that mean? Well it means it's now time to pick your FAVORITE AEW Match of the Year. Anything from the PPVs they had, and the weekly shows.


They've been plenty of good ones. Top 3 in no order I'd have say to say being Lucha Bros vs Young Bucks Ladder Match, Mox vs Omega Non-Sanctioned Match, and Dustin vs Cody at Double or Nothing. But they are some other great matches I could mention as well. But of those three, if I had to pick just one of them and narrow it down to that. I'd say Lucha Bros vs Young Bucks Ladder Match. The match was really amazing honestly, and the best of their matches they've had(that I've seen) in any company. I really enjoyed it. But the other two could really move into the spot, depending on my mood.

Fuck, I'm so out of it I put Dusty and not Dustin lol. Now I had to fix that in the OP. But yeah, both those are pretty great matches as well.

That ladder match was way too much. I didn't mind Mox/Omega but it could been just as violent bein' 10 minutes less.

My three favorite matches from AEW this year would be Dustin/Cody that was an emotional thrill ride. Also, Pac/Hangman from the first Dynamite and Full Gear are up there.

Those are fair points. But I personally don’t mind long matches. I’ve seen matches over the years go to long, and AEW had a few(but for the match itself and how it was going.) but fair points as that stuff isn’t for everyone.

PAC vs Hangman matches surely were good tho!.

Cody/Dustin - the match was a masterclass in storytelling and it proved that Cody was a bona fide superstar. This is a match that you would show a non wrestling fan why you're a fan

Omega/Mox I had the most fun watching because of love hardcore wrestling, though I agree they could've shaved a good 8 or so minutes from it

Cody vs Dustin and Cody vs Jericho.

I personally loved Cody vs Jericho more. Cody's Promo and Jericho's excellent heel work while also feeling new from being on TV. The stipulation + the fact that I actually fell for a false pin during that match. To the ending - that was just beautiful wrestling.

 

[Mox Girl]

Mox vs Omega. Easy. And not just cos Mox was in it, it was a crazy fun brawl with some really creative weapon spots in it.

 

[Hoss]

Cody vs. Dustin is my no-brainer pick for AEW match of the year. It's one of the best matches I've seen this year, period. And I wouldn't really say the same about any other AEW matches (though they consistently have very good matches.)

After that, yeah... Moxley vs. Omega was an exceptional pseudo-deathmatch. The Lucha Bros vs. The Bucks in the Escalera De La Muerte was insane. Omega vs. Janela on the second (?) episode of Dark was fantastic. Cody and Dustin vs. The Bucks also fantastic. The first 10 minutes or so of Cody vs. Spears was great as well lol.

Cody v Dustin is top 3 MOTY outside of AEW.

Kenny v Omega didn't have enough wrestling for me for it to be a MOTY contender, still solid match.

Bros v Bucks brought us one of the best tag team matches I've ever seen.

Mox v Allin with that mid-rope Paradigm Shift was class too.
