Hangman vs Swerve in the Texas Deathmatch was phenomenal. This show was great as a whole as expected, but I thought what they accomplished was on a completely other level. It was an absolute masterclass in storytelling, drama and brutality. The usage of blood in this match is why I really enjoy it used as a visual in these kinds of match-ups. Hangman drinking it and spitting it out like a vampire was absolutely insane and then the shot of Swerve stapling himself whilst he had a full on crimson mask were like something straight out of a horror film. I'm a big Deathmatch guy from watching the indies and this was easily the best that I've seen this year by quite a large margin. Swerve picking up the win was unexpected for me but I really vibed with it, I'm glad he got that big win he deserves. Realistically, he's a guy you could easily build the company around in 2024 as a World Champion if you wanted, he has all the tools. His growth and ability to reinvent himself since coming to AEW is incredibly impressive.
