AEW FILES TRADEMARKS FOR 'ALL ELITE WOMEN' SERIES & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2022-08-02 13:48:00
AEW filed a trademark for the term "All Elite Women" on 8/1, PWInsider.com has confirmed.

The tradmark is listed for a number of realms, including most interestingly these two:

- "Entertainment services in the nature of creation, development, and production of television programming; Entertainment services in the nature of professional athletes competing in wrestling; Fan clubs; Music production services; On-line journals, namely, blogs featuring sports and entertainment; Publishing of electronic publications; Television show production; Educational and entertainment services, namely, a continuing program about wrestling accessible by radio, television, satellite, audio, video and computer networks; Entertainment in the nature of live performances by professional wrestlers; Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, providing temporary use of non-downloadable video games; Entertainment, namely, a continuing wrestling show broadcast over television, satellite, audio, and video media; Providing entertainment news and information specifically in the field of sport and entertainment via a website; Providing online music, not downloadable; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing a website featuring non-downloadable publications in the nature of electronic books, magazines, newsletters, journals, periodicals, articles, brochures, and on-line journals in the field of sports and entertainment; Providing an Internet website portal in the field of entertainment, cultural and sporting events"

-"Retail store services featuring a wide variety of sports and entertainment merchandise; Advertising and promotional services; On-line retail store services featuring a wide variety of sports and entertainment merchandise; Organizing exhibitions for wrestling events; Promotional sponsorship of professional wrestling events"

-"Dolls; Skateboards; Action figures and accessories therefor; Board games; Card games; Costume masks; Playing cards; Stuffed toy animals; Tabletop games; Video game machines; Video game machines for use with televisions; Bobblehead dolls; Cases for action figures; Hand-held units for playing electronic games; Toy action figures; Toy wrestling rings"

There are additional filings for streaming wrestling content as well.

While not confirmed, it would appear the trademark is the first sign of a new wrestling series for AEW, this one focusing on the company's women's stars. If so, it would join AEW Dynamite, Rampage, Dark and Dark - Elevation as the fifth weekly outing for the promotion. One would think this is an in-ring product, but there's always a chance this is a reality TV concept.

Obviously, more to come as we confirm.

If it is a reality TV thing, it'll be one more step for me checking out of AEW

why would that have any bearing on you watching the wrestling program, out of curiosity? Cody had a reality show prior, and Total Bellas, for all it's flaws, is a massive reason why WWE drew in female viewers.

Now, don't get me wrong, if it's a wrestling show, I'd be much happier. If it's a a reality show, I will simply do like Cody's show and not watch it. In either case, if it's more screen time for women I'm all for it.

Not to be an ass, but does my reasoning really matter? I could explain it, though I am sure the wording would be off, and it'll honestly make me come across as a jaded ass who doesn't get the concept of "reality tv", why people consume it, and it'll make it seem like I am someone who pioneers for the ye olde days of wrestling like Cornette or one of these others that says "X is killing the business" or what have you. Plus, I am sure it'll open a whole can of worms that I just don't feel like dealing with.

Some of the seasons of Total Divas were entertaining. I’d give a shot with the AEW ladies.

I think anything that gives the women of AEW more spotlight can’t be anything other than a net positive.

this is my thinking as well. one of the biggest issues with the AEW women is that a lot of them are unknown quantities to the more casual viewer and live crowd. An opportunity to showcase a different side of them, I think that could do a lot of good at getting their names out there. its not my cup of tea, but it works. People like Jade could also potentially grab even more of an audience. Also, if they kept it to a lot of backstage spotlight stuff and behind the curtain stuff, it could be cool.

We thought Vince retired but Tony seems to be well on the path to becoming Vince.

I must have missed the part where trips cancelled Miz and Misses.
