There was an episode of raw like 18 years ago that had advertised Edge vs. Randy Orton and Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena, Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena ended up going like an hour and they had to announce that Edge vs. Randy Orton had to be cancelled because of how long HBK vs. Cena went. I get that its not wise to advertise matches that aren't planned to happen, but I always thought it added a bit to the realism.

Back in the 80s they had standby matches that didn't happen sometimes but they also would and it'd be funny bc like the title match would happen then theres be two squash matches to end the show
