Solid show tonight once again.
Chris Jericho was all over this show, but there's nothing wrong with that. His promo with Mox was really good, although I don't think anyone is buying for a second that Mox is gonna join The Inner Circle. Later on we got him on commentary during the match between Sammy and Luchasaurus and he really delivered the goods. I thought he did a great job of simultaneously hyping up Luchasaurus, while also shitting on him and the others in Jurassic Express. Almost like he couldn't help but to be impressed, but then remembered that they're his enemies. Seeing Jungle Boy get the visual three count on him is nice, and an inventive way to give Jungle Boy a rub. Maybe this is just what they want me to think... but I could definitely see Jungle Boy lasting the full 10 minutes next week.
I feel like they're really missing the mark with Cody right now. He worked wonders putting over Darby, Sammy and even Shawn Spears, solidifying them as major players by having competitive matches with them. But he can't be the guy that does that with every new signing. This whole deal with Butcher and Blade has just been so weird and hard for me to care about. Maybe because they've done a pretty poor job of explaining their motives, but regardless, it feels like an unnecessary diversion from his feud with MJF. For what it's worth, I think Butcher and Blade will work out, but it's been a stumble out of the gate in my opinion. For his part, MJF cut a great promo running down Cody. I'm guessing he's going to face off with Cody at Bash At The Beach, and probably again at Revolution. Oh, and the Darby Allin thing? I like the idea of an alliance between Cody and Darby A LOT. But again, that segment was just kinda awkward and unnatural. I'm sure they'll build on it better next week though.
Big Swole and Emi Sakura had a solid match. Super awesome to see Big Swole and Kris Statlander both getting so over in their debut matches. The women's division really needed that.
The match between Young Bucks and Proud and Powerful was solid. Good, not great, I'd say. It was certainly time for The Bucks to get their win back and it was plenty gruesome, which it had to be. Crazy that we're here in 2019, about to be 2020, and one of the matches I'm most eager to see is Dustin Rhodes vs. Jake Hager. I could have never in a million lifetimes guessed that would be the case at this point.
Anyways, next week I'll be in Corpus Christi to see Dynamite live and I think I've probably said that 20 times already over the past couple of weeks but I'm fucking ready! I'm guaranteed Chris Jericho vs. Jungle Boy, The Young Bucks vs. SCU for the title and Kris Statlander vs. Britt Baker so far. That's already amazing. But add in that I'm more than likely gonna see Jon Moxley, Cody, Kenny Omega, Luchasaurus and Darby Allin? Hell fucking yeah. I'm just hoping for a miracle from the wrestling Gods and Jake Hager ends up making his AEW debut against Dustin Rhodes at the show too!
