As the date for the yet-to-be announced AEW Collision looms near, more details are being discussed as relates to CM Punk's return to the company and the discussed roster split between Dynamite and the new Saturday show.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week's
Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the updated plan is for less of a "hard roster split" between the two shows and that Punk will appear on Dynamite when needed.
However, "those with unresolved issues with Punk would be on Collision the week he’s on Dynamite," wrote Meltzer. He also wrote that "the idea is to get people to resolve issues but that hasn’t happened yet nor has there been any notable progress."
When it comes to the female talent in AEW, "the thought is that the split will not be hard at all with the women as they don’t believe there is enough star power to do a hard split. "
As Meltzer noted, none of the details above are final.
The discussed new two-hour show is expected to air on TNT on Saturdays from 8-10 PM Eastern, kicking off at a yet-to-be announced late-June United Center event that would feature Punk's first AEW appearance since last September's All Out.
