This is why I honestly believe the trios match was the absolute right way to go and the storyline has been booked to absolute perfection.
The crux of the entire thing between Kenny and Don Callis honestly goes all the way back to the rivalry with Chris Jericho in New Japan. You throw on Chris Jericho also having a match with Will Ospreay at all in and Jericho is just as vital to the storyline as Kenny Omega is. If you were going to shave this down to a tag team match it’s Kota and Sammy that are the extras, but even then having Don take out Kota in Japan because of the fact that Don blamed Kenny’s friendships with their downfall means that Kota needed to be involved and then you had the splintering between Sammy and Kenny that has been building up for months and you find out the reason for the crack was Don Callis and Sammy then becomes the last vital piece of the puzzle.
