I wonder if in a situation like this, Trent is just a veteran guy that unfortunately isn't likely to do much in the ring anymore, so they send him out there and he's just helping the other guys keep the match together.

I can see it. He is used more sparingly, and honestly, the hoodie aesthetic can probably help him hide when he is helping with the match.
