To start with Tony confirmed Hangman went into business for himself first. That’s what started everything else. Then someone leaked the rumors he was gonna walk out which was untrue, and then the reports he shot back on Hangman, followed by the big lie he tried to get Colt fired. Who do you think was behind these leaks? This isn’t the first time the Elite butted heads with someone behind the scenes. We know Cody and them had a huge falling out. He even commented on them trying to box him out of the credit for creating AEW. I’m sure Punk is operating on more than we are, too. Not sure where SRS confirms he’s never talked to them, but there could be a plethora of ways he knows who did it.
I don’t think he should have necessarily done that right there, but I’m not gonna be more upset with him than the people shooting on him on live television, spreading lies to the dirt sheets and trying to harm his ability to draw money. Tony even apologized a few times for not addressing it personally earlier so I don’t think he’s too upset with Punk over the rumors that continued to fester for over a month. Someone needed to nip it in the bud.
If it turns out Evil Uno leaked the lies, I’ll admit I was wrong and I’ll owe the Young Bucks and Kenny an apology. In the future I do agree there needs to be more restrictions on what can and can’t be said, but I’m guessing Tony loved it with a few exceptions. He never tried to stop it and the feed is still up.
