I love Nash so much sometimes. But I do agree. Punk seems to have come back totally different to how he was pre-injury.

Punk allegedly assaulted an executive....surely that's an easy out for TK and Co. when it comes to Phil Brook's contract.

Surely there are some common sense clauses on every contract that this company draws out and are not completely that inept to not cover every basis?

A contract buyout would be the cleanest. Considering the executives came into his locker room first Punk could easily sue AEW for breach of contract for a hostile work environment. Not saying he’d win or anything, but it would a headache for Tony and bad press. I’m sure AEW just wants to move on and get this shit over with it.

I wouldn't give him a dime.

Punk said if anyone had a problem his locker room was open....that's an invitation.....not too mention they were executives and technically were in charge of the building that night so trying that Stand your Ground defense does not apply.

None of that stops him from initialing suing them.

Also, work environment laws don’t care about open invitations. Executives aren’t allowed to brawl with their employees. And hostile work environment means a lot more than the initial fight. It means creating the environment that brought about the fight in life be first place. Whether it has merit or not, Tony doesn’t want it.

Who threw the first punch?

If the one suing is the one who started the brawl...then that is grounds for dismissal.

You clearly don’t understand so I’m gonna stop here.

I agree that AEW likely wants to just be done with the neg and Tony has plenty of fuck you money to just end it and likely isn't super interested in litigation that would lead to bad press and potentially keeping his other stars benched. I can see the value of Smark's points of just buying him out and saying fuck it.

On a side note, I could see Nick suing Ace for sure if he's made any damage that requires plastic surgery to his face, for example.

Like whether or not I believe he "deserves" the money for the rest of his contract is inconsequential, from a business POV, usually unless you are petty or NEED to money, just buying him out might be more worth it, even if it sets a morally ambiguous precedent. also its really hard to fire ppl who are injured regardless if they talked shit and got in a fight , especially in a non office setting and more of a sports lockeroom setting where some physicality is more commonplace

Yeah Punk's injury could also be a factor. Even if he deserves to be fired, he got injured on company time so would be from a legal stand point be entitled to payment for that time potentially.
yeah it would be a bad look, regardless of what punk did, to fire a guy injured on company time

I’m still holding out hope they let the eight months go by to allow cooler heads prevail. That’s a long time to let the dust settle so you can make some good money next year.
