AEW 2025: Restoring The Feeling
Beginning After Worlds End 2024

AEW World Heavyweight Championship
Champion Jon Moxley defends versus Challenger Darby Allin

The main event of Worlds End promises to be one of the most hard-hitting, emotional affairs of 2024 as Jon Moxley and Darby Allin go one on one with the AEW World Heavyweight Championship on the line.

Jon Moxley successfully defended the AEW World Heavyweight Championship versus Orange Cassidy at Full Gear. Darby Allin led a show closing brawl alongside new TNT Champion Daniel Garcia, AEW World Tag Team Champions Private Party, and a returning Kenny Omega to set the line in the sand versus The Death Riders' control of All Elite Wrestling. The following Dynamite, Omega announced that Darby Allin would be getting his rightful championship opportunity at Worlds End in Orlando.

The subsequent weeks were just as one would have expected with Darby Allin running the gauntlet against vicious assaults from The Death Riders. Allies quickly became occupied with their own personal feuds thus leaving the former two time TNT Champion to go at it alone. However, if there is one thing about Darby Allin: he is going to take a beating and get back up to give one of his own.

Darby Allin challenged The Death Riders' to a one night gauntlet with a win barring Marina Shafir from ringside at Worlds End. That match occurred on the December 14th Collision as Darby Allin wrestled for 34 minutes to defeat PAC, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta (in that order) to face Jon Moxley one on one. The win did not stop Shafir's presence after the bout though as she choked out Darby Allin. Jon Moxley lead The Death Riders' to tearing mats off the floor for a Paradigm Shift onto the cement. It was reported that Darby Allin suffered an undisclosed injury but he would not miss Worlds End.
Dynamite on 34th Street, a week and a half later, closed out with Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta defeating Orange Cassidy and Kyle O'Reilly. The Death Riders' were quick to surround the rings like a predator on their preys, but damage could not be done to The Conglomeration members with Darby Allin's return. Allin quickly went to brawl with his rivals with the use of his skateboard. He was quick to take down Castagnoli, PAC, and Yuta before being face to face with Marina Shafir. Shafir kicked the skateboard from Allin and went for a quick Rear Naked Choke, but it was Kris Statlander who interrupted to take down Shafir.
Security and talent came rushing down by direction of Tony Khan - according to Tony Schiavone - to break apart the brawl and maintain the safety of the New York fans. That was not able to tame this massive brawl though. The Death Riders' and The Conglomeration fought in the crowd as those in attendance began roaring as the camera paned out as Allin climbed the interior of The Hammerstein Ballroom.

Darby Allin shocked the world with a Coffin Drop from nearly the height of Hammerstein's balcony to lay out all security, talent, and most importantly - Jon Moxley. Darby Allin returned to the ring to open the briefcase Marina Shafir holds to lift the AEW World Heavyweight Championship high above his head with intentions clear while the show went off the air.

Is this the end of Jon Moxley’s reign or the beginning of more terror? Is it the beginning of Darby Allin’s meeting with destiny or has he brought on more than he can handle?

Continental Classic Finals
AEW Continental Championship Match

Champion & Blue League Winner Kazuchika Okada defends versus Challenger & Gold League Winner Will Ospreay

Worlds End for the second year in a row hosts the finals to the exciting round robin Continental Classic Tournament. The current Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada entered the tournament with the potential to win his seventh tournament across professional wrestling. Okada successfully moved through the Blue League against: a returning Bandido, House of Black's Malakai Black, LFI's RUSH, The Hurt Syndicate's Shelton Benjamin, and Swerve Strickland.

The champion regained his one loss RUSH in the finals of the Blue League to secure his championship defense at Worlds End.

On the other side, Will Ospreay’s momentum through his first year in All Elite Wrestling continued on while competing in the Gold League. Ospreay had his hands full with “Hangman” Adam Page, a healthy Keith Lee, rival AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita, "Absolute" Ricky Starks, and LFI's The Beast Mortos. Ospreay impressed many with winning all of his matches except for one as he and Starks went to a draw. Ospreay and Starks met again in the finals of the Gold League with The Aerial Assassin winning the second encounter in almost 18 minutes.

There is not much to say beyond the promise that Kazuchika Okada and Will Ospreay are destined to have a one on one masterclass with one of AEW’s prized possessions on the line. Can Okada go into the New Year remaining to have the only gold with The Elite or does Will Ospreay taste gold for the third time before the year end?

Singles Match
Kenny Omega versus Jack Perry

A blockbuster singles match for first time in over three years as Kenny Omega goes one on one with Jack Perry. Kenny Omega has been out of in-ring action since December of last year after being diagnosed with diverticulitis. He made one appearance in May of this year only to be assaulted by his Worlds End opponent and the rest of The Elite. Kenny Omega's return was on full display to stand strong alongside Darby Allin and co. to close out Full Gear. The world was a abuzz at the official return of The Cleaner, and nobody's attention was caught more than Jack Perry.

The Scapegoat unsuccessfully challenged Daniel Garcia to reclaim the TNT Championship at the November 30th edition of Collision. Perry determined his next path of action was to attack an AEW camerman backstage, then to use the camera as a way to speak directly with Kenny Omega. Perry reminded the world what he did when he assaulted and injured Kenny Omega, which is what gave him all of his momentum this year. Perry wants to start 2025 on the right foot by ridding AEW of Kenny Omega again and he wants to do it at Worlds End. That challenge was accepted by Omega on the December 4th Dynamite.

Kenny Omega teamed with Private Party to win trios competition versus Johnny TV and MxM Collection that same Dynamite. After the bell, the victors were all assaulted by Brian Cage and Lance Archer with Don Callis leading direction. Jack Perry slowly made his way to the ring to capitalize on a fallen foe. Jack Perry put the final nail in the coffin with a Running Knee to Kenny Omega then shaking hands with Callis.
The story took a quick pause with doctor's recommending a week away for Kenny Omega. Jack Perry picked up a quick win versus Serpentico on the December 6th Rampage for continued momentum. Kenny Omega went to X to call out the games Perry is playing, and he would rather play along then play against him. Omega offered a Dealer's Choice match for December 18th's Dynamite, which Perry accepted as he chose Powerhouse Hobbs. Omega defeated Hobbs with a V-Trigger then shook his hand as a sign of respect. The Don Callis Family, with Jack Perry, tried to be involved leading to Hobbs, Omega, and Private Party cleaning out the ring of their rivals.

Dynamite on 34th Street pushed tensions to an all time high as Kenny Omega and Jack Perry found their way to the streets of Manhattan to kick off the show The brawl seemingly came to an end after Perry suplexed Omega onto a car. That was after Omega threw a bike at Perry, hot dogs were thrown across the street, and plenty of jay-walking through the Big Apple. Later in the night, both men were arrested by New York Police Department for endangering the lives on hundreds along with damaging property.
Videos obtained by reliable sources show Kenny Omega and Jack Perry going into the same cell while awaiting bail. Tensions remained at an all time high creating a fight once again in the holding area resulting in a larger fine. AEW can now safely announce that Kenny Omega and Jack Perry are released and are separated until both men are in the same ring in Orlando, Florida. The Cleaner and The Scapegoat go one on one with tension at all time high at Worlds End.

Tag Team Match
MJF and Wardlow versus Adam Cole and Roderick Strong

It is a safe bet that you would have never expected MJF and Wardlow to be on the same page, yet money and wrath can drive a man back to who he used to be. As the saying goes: the enemy of my enemy is my friend. The mutual enemy of Adam Cole and Roderick Strong has brought The Devil and Wardlow together once again.

MJF defeated Roderick Strong at Full Gear with some assistance from the Dynamite Diamond Ring. His victory was short-lived as Adam Cole was waiting in the back to go toe to toe with his former ‘brochacho.’ Adam Cole and Roderick Strong got the last laugh on that night in Newark, New Jersey, by laying out MJF. Friedman went on a tirade with backstage interviewer Alicia Atout where he, in a moment of anger, challenged Adam Cole to a match at Thanksgiving Eve Dynamite. Tony Khan made it official, via X.

That Dynamite - Adam Cole’s entrance was first to the applause and a loud “Bay Bay” from the crowd with Roderick Strong in his corner. MJF's entrance hit to a chorus of boos but 'The Devil' never made an appearance. The riffs of music changed to howls of a wolf as Wardlow came to the ring with an intense purpose. Wardlow laid out Strong with a stiff clothesline on the outside before he went face to face with his former Undisputed Kingdom leader. Cole tried to talk down Wardlow, but he was met with a slap across the face followed up with multiple powerbombs in the center of the ring. Wardlow stood tall in the squared circle for a minute, and as he got to the top of the stage: MJF was waiting for him for the two to shake hands.

Wardlow reflected on his time with The Undisputed Kingdom on Rampage. Wardlow noted how Adam Cole treated him during that time; noting that it was worse than anything Max put him through. Wardlow vowed to help Max take down Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, and the entire Undisputed Kingdom. That began with Mike Bennett winning the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal with an opportunity to challenge MJF for the ring at Winter Is Coming. Mike Bennett seemed to have a win coming his way as Wardlow assaulted Matt Taven ringside to provide the distraction. MJF took advantage of the situation by forcing Bennett to tap out to Salt of the Earth to remain the holder of the Dynamite Diamond Ring.

Wardlow added some insult to injury with a Powerbomb to Mike Bennett after the match. That was followed up with a Powerbomb to Matt Taven onto Mike Bennett. Wardlow stood tall over Taven and Bennett with MJF raising his hand high. Adam Cole and Roderick Strong addressed assault on Rampage calling it an act of cowardice to attack people behind their backs especially when their friends are out of the building. The Acclaimed - mainly Max Castor - interrupted saying that Cole and Strong are the cowards for avoiding MJF and Wardlow. Cole & Strong went on to defeat The Acclaimed on the December 14th Collision.

The following week at Collision on 34th Street, MJF hosted an "Undisputed Meeting at the Happiest Place on Earth" as he invited Cole and Strong to his home on Long Island. MJF and Wardlow sat on one end of the table while Cole and Strong sat the end with only distance, tension, and MJF's butler separating the men. Each duo said their peace about the match in tis time. Adam Cole apologizes for how he treated Wardlow, but he reminds him everything MJF put him through. However, in any case, he is going to beat both their asses for what happened to Bennett and Taven. Strong echoes the sentiments that The Undisputed Kingdom was meant to dismantle the chokehold MJF had on AEW and now it is somehow worse than ever. Strong blames Wardlow in part for letting it even happen, and he is going to break both their back.

MJF found any statement from Cole and Strong just laughable. Friedman's relationship with Wardlow is much different than their first because they are changed men with a common enemy and a common goal. MJF has apologized to Wardlow for their past, and he has forgiven the former TNT Champion for his wrong doings. There is only one thing better for AEW than MJF and it is MJF when he is with Wardlow. Wardlow does not speak besides the end as he promises that The Undisputed Kingdom will be hearing a symphony of destruction and powerbombs at Worlds End.

At World's End, MJF and Wardlow look to dismantle the kingdom created by Adam Cole and Roderick Strong.

Curious to see where this goes and I can see some fun changes to real life. Only main criticism I have is Hangman and Swerve both doing very bad in the C2 and eating 3 losses which feels weird as two of the top acts in AEW who are working right now and are over. Changing the MJF feud makes some sense tho as that has been my least fav part of AEW atm and I can see the merit in doing Darby vs Mox now. Really curious to see where the women go as well as it was good before All In but has fallen off

Firstly, great to see you getting back into things, Rasky. First part of this backstory was relatively solid, and looking to part two, and then the subsequent show. Best of luck with this mate.

Worlds End 2024 Backstory & Build Part 2

AEW Women’s World Championship Match
Champion “The Glamour” Mariah May defends versus Jamie Hayter
Mariah May played her cards to perfection throughout 2024, and this is her last opportunity to end the year with a royal flush. It could be the former champion Jamie Hayter who feels she could still be champion today that plans to make May fold.

Tony Khan announced that Mariah May’s challenger for Worlds End would be decided in a Casino Gauntlet Match, the first for AEW’s women’s division, on the December 4th Dynamite. A total of ten women entered the match, yet Jamie Hayter came away as the contender when she pinned Hikaru Shida. Also in the match was: Willow Nightingale, Emi Sakura, Deonna Purrazzo, ROH Women's Television Champion Red Velvet, Serena Deeb, Nyla Rose, Mina Shirakawa, and a returning Julia Hart.

Hayter went on to defeat May's best friend Mina Shirkawa with Hayter-Ade at Collision: Winter Is Coming to continue building momentum. After the match, Shirakawa held the ankles of Hayter allowing Mariah May to run the AEW Women’s World Championship into the head of her challenger. Mariah May went on to defeat Rachael Ellering on the December 20th edition of Rampage.

The following night, Renee Paquette had a one on one sit down with Jamie Hayter. The number one contender says that the AEW Women's World Championship is important for her to get back for a multitude of reasons. Winning this championship again is proof to Hayter that she is back to the woman who was putting the AEW women's division on the map. She says people like Mercedes Mone, Hikaru Shida, Willow Nightingale, and even Mariah May are doing their part but nobody got the attention like Hayter.

The former champion looks directly to the camera that being the star of the show, who lies and cheats to get her way, does not make for a qualified champion. A qualified champion is the woman who had a near career-ending injury, but she still went out to defend her championship in a 3-on-1 scenario. Jamie Hayter promises that at Worlds End, The Glamour is getting a full taste of Hayter-Ade.

Christmas Day saw Hayter back in action versus Emi Sakura in a hard-hitting opening contest. Hayter defeated Sakura with said Hayter-Ade. There was no time for a post-match celebration as Mariah May came to the ring for another post-match assault. However, Hayter fought back prepare for the cowardice ways of the AEW Women's World Champion. Jamie looked to give the champion a full taste of Hayter-Ade before they meet one on one, but May ducked under the lariat then quickly retreated from the ring. The two women stared down as their segment ended with Mariah May's toughest challenge underway.

Can May prove her championship reign is built off of more than lying and cheating, or is a 100% Jamie Hayter too much for The Glamour?

TBS Championship
Champion “The CEO” Mercedes Mone versus Thunder Rosa
Mercedes Mone's coming off what many call her toughest title defense to date versus Kris Statlander at Full Gear. The following Dynamite, Mone fired Kamille as her bodyguard due to failing at her duties to protect the CEO and her championship reign.

Elsewhere in the women's division: Thunder Rosa’s three match ‘feud’ with Harley Cameron came to an end with wins in all contests. After their match on Rampage, Mercedes Mone interrupted Rosa's celebration for a face to face with the former AEW Women's World Champion.

Renee Paquette questioned Mone the night after on Collison. The TBS Champion explains these actions as a kudos of sorts to Thunder Rosa. The champion only wants to ever step in the ring with the best of the best, which is why she is at AEW, and that is why she wants Thunder Rosa to be her next challenger. Thunder Rosa defeated Leila Grey the following week on Rampage then accepted the idea of challenging Mercedes Mone for the TBS Championship. Tony Khan then made it official that night through X.

Collision on 34th Street saw Mercedes Mone interrupt Thunder Rosa's interview time with Alex Marvez. Mone took some time to speak on Rosa's accomplishments, but she put even more time on Rosa being a broken down former self since she was forced to relinqush the AEW Women's World Champion. Mone tells her challenger to bring the Thunder Rosa who main evented Dynamite twice, who held gold for 277 days elsewhere, and to be the woman who fans clamored for to join AEW. Mone finishes off with telling Rosa that if that doesn't happen, she is going to be just another name in AEW that Mercedes Mone embarasses.

Mercedes Mone defeated ROH competitor Miranda Alzie on the final Dynamite before Worlds End. This time Thunder Rosa interrupted the celebration to go face to face with the champion. All seemed cordial between the two until Mercedes Mone slapped Rosa just as the challenger offered her hand. Thunder Rosa wasted no time to return the slap then drop Mone with the Thunder Driver.

A pre-taped video package aired on the final Rampage in the last of the build. There is footage of Thunder Rosa's wins over the likes of Dr. Britt Baker DMD and Deonna Purrazzo in extreme settings. Rosa speaks over the video as it plays through. The challenger respected the words of Mercedes Mone because it lit a fire under her that she has been missing. Rosa promises Mercedes Mone that her reign will be defended for adding prestige to the TBS Championship, but it is the time La Mera Mera to bring honor back into the AEW women's division.

It seems Mercedes Mone wish came true to step into the ring with the best possible Thunder Rosa. Who can live up to their namesake come Worlds End? The CEO or La Mera Mera?

Tag Team Match
The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin) versus Swerve Strickland and Ricochet
The Hurt Syndicate has targeted Swerve Strickland since arriving in AEW. MVP was under sincere belief that the syndicate could do wonders for the career of Strickland, but when the former AEW World Champion declined, it became about destroying Swerve with the arrival of Bobby Lashley.

Bobby Lashley defeated Swerve Strickland at Full Gear after forcing him to pass out to The Hurt Lock. Prince Nana was also put into The Hurt Lock in a sign of dominance from the syndicate. On the Thanksgiving Eve Dynamite, MVP announced that The Hurt Syndicate was no longer focused on Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana with intentions now focused on another man who denied his management advancements: Ricochet. Video footage received from arena security shows Ricochet backstage earlier in the day throwing away The Hurt Syndicate card once given to him by MVP. A general warning was sent to the direction of the Las Vegas resident.

Ricochet defeated Komander in a high-flying thriller on Collision, which is when he came face to face with Bobby Lashley with Shelton Benjamin by The Almighty's side. Ricochet was obviously out numbered as Benjamin forced him into Lashley's Hurt Lock. Luckily for Ricochet: Swerve Strickland is willing to balance both the Continental Classic and bad blood with The Hurt Syndicate.

Shelton Benjamin and Swerve Strickland met in the Blue League of the Continental Classic with the former claiming the victory. After the match, MVP and Bobby Lashley came to the ring for a celebration except their attention quickly moved to Strickland. History was on the verge of repeating itself with Strickland being forced into The Hurt Lock. Ricochet was the man making the save this time.

Benjamin and Strickland continued on to the Continental Classic respectfully. The feud came to a head more so after Ricochet defeated Shane Taylor in New York while The Hurt Syndicate watched on stage. The stable wasted no time to go after their rival after the match as Lashley laid out Ricochet with a Spear. MVP wanted to continue orchestrating an attack, but Swerve Strickland entered to even the odds. Blows were traded between the four men with it ending as MVP hit both men with his cane followed by another Spear to both men. That lead to Swerve Strickland's final loss in the Continental Classic to RUSH.

Also with The Hurt Syndicate: MVP and Shelton Benjamin gave a Syndicate card to Lio Rush suggesting that there is more that can be done in his career. Rush did not give a solid answer at the moment, but Top Flight took the card away from their ally, suggesting that it was not the best decision for Rush. Lio Rush defeated Mansoor on the Collision of December 21st with MVP ringside to the dismay of Top Flight and Leila Grey. MVP pointed to the Worlds End after the match calling for Lio Rush to do right by The Hurt Syndicate.

Worlds End brings another layer to The Hurt Syndicate's feud with Swerve Strickland as Ricochet picks his side with the former AEW World Heavyweight Champion. Could Lio Rush be the missing piece of MVP's stable of hurt, and does Swerve Strickland and Ricochet get their needed revenge?

TNT Championship Match
Champion Daniel Garcia defends versus Challenger Kyle Fletcher
Daniel Garcia got his first taste of AEW gold when he submitted Jack Perry at Full Gear to become the new TNT Champion. On that same night, Kyle Fletcher did what many thought was unthinkable when he defeated his former friend Will Ospreay.

Kyle Fletcher boasted heavily about his win with Don Callis suggesting that his client be named contender to any championship in AEW. Garcia came out to confront the two bringing mention how long it took him to become TNT Champion, let alone get a TNT Championship match. The champion did not discredit the win Fletcher got over Ospreay, but he suggests that this is just the beginning for the work Kyle Fletcher needs to put in. Later that night, cameras caught Kyle Fletcher assault Daniel Garcia with torn down pipe and drape area while calling himself championship quality. Fletcher defeated Komander on the following Collision while Don Callis bereated Matt Menard's friendship with Daniel Garcia on commentary.

Daniel Garcia returned to action on the December 4th edition of Dynamite hosting his first TNT Championship Open Challenge. Mark Davis answered the call, and he was submitted by Garcia after a ten minute affair. Kyle Fletcher waited backstage to confront Davis for taking his TNT Championship opportunity, but Garcia stepped in suggesting that Fletcher should have been just a little quicker if he really wants to be champion. The champion mentions he isn't forgetting last week's attack, and Fletcher should now start watching his back. Garcia left the scene and Fletcher kicked the previously injured wrist of Davis before walking off the scene.

Winter is Coming on Collision hosted the second TNT Championship Open Challenge to open the show. Daniel Garcia went on to successfully defeat Powerhouse Hobbs in a close match, which plenty thought could have went in either direction. Fletcher, once again missing his opportunity, hosted an open challenge of his own later in the night. Kyle Fletcher defeated Mark Davis in just under 9 minutes.

After the match, Don Callis announced that Aussie Open is dead forever and it is all about Kyle Fletcher. That means that Fletcher is going to do anything he needs to do to continue making a name for himself. The Protostar went back to his former friend with a swift kick to the jaw before Don Callis suggested that he break his wrist again. There is no qualm about it from Fletcher, which oddly brings Callis joy watching a steel chair be wrapped around the arm of Davis. However, Daniel Garcia ran off Kyle Fletcher before the damage could truly be done. Garcia offered up the TNT Championship at Worlds End telling Fletcher the only way to make a name for himself is by not attacking from behind or cheaply but to be a fighter. Daniel Garcia promised to make Kyle Fletcher tap out in Orlando.

The Collision on 34th Street saw Kyle Fletcher, Lance Archer, and Brian Cage defeat Daniel Garcia and Private Party with Fletcher pinning the champion with the final bit of momentum on his side.

At World's End, who will walk away with the TNT Championship in hand?

AEW World Tag Team Championship Match
Champions Private Party versus Challengers Murder Machines
The Don Callis Family continues to make their presence known on the Worlds End card with championship opportunities coming to Lance Archer and Brian Cage. Private Party standing up to The Death Riders' did not last long when they chose to team with Kenny Omega thus being apart of the assault done by Jack Perry, Archer, and Cage.

Private Party requested a match following that assault. The match was booked for the December 11th Dynamite in an Eliminator Match. Lance Archer pinned Zay with the Blackout for this championship match to happen at Worlds End. Private Party defeated the Grizzled Young Vets on the December 21st Collision for much needed momentum on their side. Lance Archer and Brian Cage also picked up a win over The Outrunners in a quick encounter.

The teams met again in the aforementioned Trios Match when Kyle Fletcher pinned Daniel Garcia. Don Callis spoke with Alicia Atout on the last Rampage suggesting that the only shots Private Party will be taking is cortisone from a bedside nurse after the Murder Machines inflict a beating like no other in Orlando.

The championship reign of Private Party was born out of fighting from underneath and proving their championship status. It seems all the energy is on side of Don Callis' Murder Machines, but could this be another opportunity for Private Party to prove all wrong?
