The following is from WWE.com:

WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE diva Maria as of today February 26, 2010. We wish Maria the best in all future endeavors.

Don't know why but I'm pretty shocked.

ok this is just a no-no... you don't get rid of your poster girl Diva, she may not be all that in the ring or on mic, but she's been around the business a while. :smh

she must have wanted out. It seems odd though, you'd think the WWE would wait till after Mania/Draft to figure out if they can use these people again before releasing them.

She really was useless, anyways. She never did anything significant and her recent pairing was just stupid. They obviously had no ideas for her so they just stuck her with people at random.

Good riddance, ho.

I see her landing a movie/television role in 6 months tops.

I have been waiting for this since her shitty set in playboy.

Her release was WAY past due.

I'm still upset that she won a slammy. That was so fucking WRONG. Stupid public.

oh don't get me wrong, I agree she was useless. and I'm not sad to see here go, but WWE seemed so high on her that I figured she had job security for at least 5 more years.

OMG my jaw dropped when she won a slammy. I was like "SHE JUST CAME BACK!!! SHE WASN'T THERE ALL YEAR!"

BULLSHIT.

^^^ YES! You could tell she was legit surprised and the other Divas were like WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS because she did NOTHING and just came back such a short time before. So lame.

I never understood what the WWE saw in her but I know exactly what you are saying. They seemed to always push her out there and try to make her something when even they had to know how useless she was and how little people cared.

She probably sucked Vince's dick in a limo so they tried to do something with her in the ring but failed.

Please don't go to TNA. They did good with not picking up Candice Michelle, lets keep it up.

No, didn't ask for her release. This is from prowrestling.net.....

WWE Diva Maria Kanellis stated that she did not ask to be released from her contract. "Alright, guys, let's talk," Maria wrote. "I did not ask for my release. I was released. I am still going to kick ass in other areas." To read her full commentary, click
