THE Brian Kendrick's Biceps

OK, so Daivari has had a rename to a much more complicated name. Not my point .... but I just thought I'd say it lol. Anyway, he is getting some video promos that are basically rip offs of the promos they gave the guy Daivari managed (Muhammad Hassan) over at WWE. It looks like they are basically building him up to be the exact same character that Hassan was. I'm not sure if that is going to be good or not, because I think that it is definitely going to be watered down.

It also looks like he will be injected into the X Division, because he is about that size, as well as the fact that he captained Team International (as Shawn DAIVARI) in the World X Cup. I could see a fairly good feud between him and Creed (seriously, how hard could it to be to build a feud between those two?), and maybe a feud with Kaz when he returns, or maybe even Christopher Daniels.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on Daivari? Willhis gimmick be any good? And what do you want to see him do?

His gimmick may be overdone, but you can't argue that it does get lots of heat. Not only by the people in the iMPACT! Zone, but if someone is just flipping channels and he/she see's some random dude insulting the US and praising his arab country or something, they will most likely immediately hate him. I'm hoping Abdul Bashir stays in the X-Division for at least a few years, he can help give that division some real personality and he isn't a bad wrestler either

I personally found the segments extremely entertaining and not false at all. I like it.

Hassan was the best heel in WWHHH in 04 and 05. Daivari was a big part of that too. I see no problem giving him the "Hassan" ball and running. He's a great talker and really good wrestler. I already see him moving up very quickly.

Also a lot of what he's saying is freaking true, not that the UK is much better. But he was just pointing out the truth, if you don't like it, well he's doing his job as a good heel!

This is stupid.
Firstly, his name is ACTUALLY Daivari, so there is no reason they shouldn't use that. At least they could've used Abdul Daivari, or something like that. They can't get in trouble for using the Daivari part though, cause it's his real name.
Also, this is overdone now... Back in 04/05, it was actually a sensitive issue... Now... Not so much. So I don't see a need for it.

Also, as you said bkb, it won't be as good as wwe's, because they will be looked at as ripping it off, AND, it won't be the same. In WWE, they still had Hassan being pushed as a big name, and maine evnting against guys liek Taker, HBK, Hogan, HHH, Jerry Lawler and more, so he was in the spotlight while doing this gimmick, and it meant something. But if Daivari is going to be in the X Division, then it really just seems dumb.

^^^Muslim caricatures will always be controversial in our lifetime. Making a passing remark about it isn't wise. With current issues in Iran, it's perfect timing.

I don't see the problem with using a different name. WWHHH gives great wrestlers stupid names all the time just to get another copyright. Braden Walker? Marcus Cor Von? Please...

Pretty much obvious, but then again I'll ask you why? :disgust1:

I don't see any problem in the character of Abdul Bashir, and using some other name instead of Daivari is a smart move. They're trying to be original and different from what Daivari originally was, a manager in the WWE...

I see this gimmick going a long way as a heel character, it always has. If they use him the smart way, they're going to get some good results from 'Abdul Bashir' they just shouldn't let it go down the drain with him being thrown in the x-division.

Precisely a lot of people probably won't even recognise that he was once on WWE (casual fans) because they have given a new name. If they called him Daivari, people would just assume it was another WWE rip-off, and be less interested, imo.

And also yes a muslim characters should not be controversial, but I think they probably are. I mean I don't find it controversial, I think it's one of the best gimmicks we've seen in a while on TNA. The promos made me feel genuine feelings, I didn't hate the guy, I kinda agreed with him, but using the real word as inspiration, is ABSOLOUTELY the best way to attract casual fans. You need to relate to people.

Which was exactly the same thing Hassan (And to a lesser extent Daivari/Abdul) did in WWE. They were booed, but all they were doing was telling the truth.

I've always liked Daivari, I think he's solid in the ring, and more than capable on the mic. I'd like to see him challenge for the X-Division title, and eventually win it. Unfortunately, I don't see him doing more than that in TNA.

As for the gimmick.. Yes, it will be good. He'll get the fans to boo him, which is pretty much what he's supposed to do. Of course, there's always the chance that he gets booked as a joke a couple of months from now. Here's hoping that does NOT happen.
