So...how is everyone? Good...that's great.
Okay...so here is my list of the Positives & Negatives, the Best Matches & Worst Matches,
the Highlights & low-lights from this year of wrestling.
While I have made no secret that I was extremely unhappy with the WWE for most of this
year...especially after I enjoyed 2016 so much...2017 did eventually get better for me and
I'm hoping that the WWE we keep improving as we all move into 2018.
Now with that short introduction out of the way here is my personal overview of the
year that was 2017.
Also...just remember this entire overview is based solely from my own opinions.
It is how I've seen the world of wrestling this year...and I'm sure everyone else has
seen it in a very different way.
Now with that all said...let's get the negatives out of the way first...
And...here...we...go!
+ The Burying Negatives of 2017 +
~ Braun Strowman being defeated cleanly at Fastlane & No Mercy...

~ Bayley's character & career being completely destroyed & buried...
~ The 'Bayley: This is your Life' segment from the 5/29 Edition of RAW...
~ James Ellsworth being involved in both the Women's Money In The Bank Ladder Matches...
~ James Ellsworth hanging around the SmackDown Live's women's division like a bad smell...
~ Mike & Maria Kanellis completely failing to make an Impact...(Get it? DID YOU GET IT?!)
~ The name "The Welcoming Committee" (That is/was a stupid fucking name!)
~ Alexa Bliss being overpushed on RAW...
~ Alexa Bliss being called a Goddess...(Seriously I fucking cringe every time I hear it)
~ The Underwhelming A.J Styles/Kevin Owens feud...
~ The Kurt Angle/Jason Jordan "He's my Son" Angle...
~ Rosemary loosing the Knockouts title at Slammiversary 2017...
~ Mauro Ranallo leaving the SmackDown Live commentary team...

~ The entrance ramps at the Royal Rumble & Wrestlemania being too fucking long...
+ My Top 5 Worst Matches of the Year +
~ Extreme Rules: Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley ~ Kendo Stick-on-a-Pole RAW Women's Championship Match:
A pathetic match that was rumored to have been cut short because of a terrible promo that
proceeded it on RAW. It was basically "the End" of Bayley on the main roster and she still
hasn't recovered from this in my opinion. If Bayley can't or won't use a kendo stick in a
kendo stick match...then she is fucking blueberry.
~ No Mercy: Neville vs. Enzo Amore ~ Cruiserweight Championship Match:
I'm a big fan of Neville...especially after his heel turn and the string of fantastic title matches
he was involved with on pay per view...but then Enzo was moved to 205 Live and it all came
crashing down. Rumor is this is why Neville walked from the company and hasn't been seen
in months. I can't say I blame him.
~ Summerslam: Randy Orton vs. Rusev:
The evidence of someone behind the scenes being pissed off at Rusev continued to pile up this
year and this Summerslam match (if you can call it that) was bullshit booking of the highest
possible degree. Its no wonder rumors started circulating that RuRu wanted out.
~ RAW April 4th: Charlotte vs. Nia Jax:
So its no secret I'm a Charlotte fanboy & I don't mind letting people know it...but this match
was absolute torture for me. Not only did Charlotte have to put Nia over before leaving for the
blue brand (even though it ended up meaning nothing for Nia in the long run) but she did it in
this mess of match that had me screaming at my television in anger as Nia botched several
moves and nearly seriously injured my Queen. The only positive from this match was the Drifter
walking by in the hard camera shot.
~ Fastlane: Kevin Owens vs. Goldberg ~ Universal Championship Match:
I hate it when full time performers get buried by part timers...and I personally consider this
match an insult to Kevin Owens & the WWE fans in general. I know they wanted to get the
belt on Goldberg so he could drop it to Lesnar at Wrestlemania...but this was still complete
& utter bullshit booking.
And now for my "Special Awards" for the year of 2017...& just so you know...
I'll be picking a performer from each main roster brand & some from NXT.
The "I Had A Career Before I came to the Main Roster" Award goes to...
Bayley & Tye Dillinger
The "I'm So Good the Creative Team doesn't know What to do with Me" Award goes to...
Finn Balor & Rusev
The "Nice Tits...Shame about the In-Ring Skills" Award goes to...
Dana Brooke & Lana
The "Needs more time in NXT" Award goes to...
Dana Brooke & Lana
The "Should be on the Main Roster by Now" Award goes to...

Cesaro & Rusev
The "Please Get the Fuck off my TV" Award goes to...
Enzo Amore & James Ellsworth
I'd also like to give this award to Mick Foley, Stephanie McMahon,
Kurt Angle & Shane McMahon...but I did find Enzo & the Blob Fish
more irritating.
The "Please Inject me with some Personality" Award goes to...
Apollo Crews & Tamina
The "Get the Fuck out of the Ring you Old Bastard" Award goes to...
Kurt Angle & Shane McMahon
The "Worst Push of the Year" Award goes to...
Jason Jordan & Carmella

Bo Dallas/Curtis Axel & Jinder Mahal

The "Tampoon (In for 1 week out for 3)" Award goes to...
Nia Jax & Sin Cara
The "I look like a Complete Dumb Ass" Award goes to...
Bayley & Baron Corbin
The "Booking Can't Kill Me!" Award goes to...
Finn Balor & Becky Lynch
The "Wasting my Time in a Pointless Feud" Award goes to...
Seth Rollins (vs. Triple H) & Kevin Owens (vs. Shane McMahon)
&
The "Making the Best of a Bad Situation" Award goes to:
The Miz & Chad Gable.
And now...for the positives...Thank God!
+ The Pushing Positives of 2017 +
~ The Booking of Braun Strowman...(for the most part)
~ Jinder Mahal winning the WWE title at Backlash...
~ Baron Corbin winning the Money In The Bank Briefcase...
~ The women finally getting a Money In The Bank Ladder Match...
~ Lesnar getting bitched again by Goldberg in the Rumble...
~ Tye Dillinger at #10 in the Rumble...
~ Samoa Joe finally arrives on the main roster...
~ Shinsuke Nakamura finally arrives on the main roster...
~ Tye Dillinger finally arrives on the main roster...
~ Naomi winning her first WWE title at Elimination Chamber...
~ Bray Wyatt Winning the WWE title in the Elimination Chamber...
~ Every time Maryse "cosplayed" as Nikki Bella...
~ The Hardy Boyz returning at Wrestlemania 33...
~ Finn Balor returns from injury the night after Wrestlemania...
~ The Revival finally arriving on the main roster...
~ Emma returns the night after Wrestlemania...
~ The Drifter...drifting on to RAW...
~ Charlotte being drafted to SmackDown Live...
~ Any Allie/Rosemary interactions on GFW/Impact...
~ Daniel Bryan suspending James Ellsworth for 30 days...
~ Samoa Joe getting a shot at Brock Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire...
~ David Otunga being removed from WWE commentary...
~ Sasha Banks finally getting her big pay per view title win at Summerslam...
~ Natalya finally winning a women's championship at Summerslam...
~ Carmella's Summerslam outfit...(And any time she dressed in that kind of outfit...HOT DAMN!)
~ Bobby Roode finally arrives on the main roster...
~ JBL leaving the SmackDown Live commentary team...
~ Baron Corbin winning the United States title at Hell in a Cell...
~ Asuka finally arrives on the main roster at TLC...
~ Pete Dunne showing up on RAW & beating the piss out of Enzo...
~ A.J Styles winning the World title on the November 7th Edition of SmackDown...
~ Charlotte winning the SmackDown Women's title on the November 14th Edition of SmackDown...
~ James Ellsworth being released in November...
~ Charlotte defeating Alexa Bliss at Survivor Series...
~ Asuka being the sole survivor at Survivor Series...
~ Paige returning on the November 20th edition of RAW...
~ Sonya Deville & Mandy Rose "showing up" with Paige on the November 20th edition of RAW...
~ Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan "showing up" on the November 21st edition of SmackDown...
~ Matt Hardy is finally Broken...I mean Woken...on the December 4th edition of RAW...
~ The First Ever Women's Royal Rumble is announced on the December 19th edition of RAW...
~ The Revival return on the December 19th edition of RAW...
+ My Top 15 Favorite Matches of the Year +
~ SmackDown Live November 14th: Charlotte vs. Natalya ~ SmackDown Women's Championship Match:
I have to be honest and say I was happy for Natalya when she won the title at Summerslam...but...
it was time for the "Crazy Cat Lady" to step aside so the Queen could sit her throne once again.
The match wasn't really that great...but you know what...its my list and its on here because
my Bae Charlotte won the belt. It was also great to see Ric Flair celebrating with his daughter
after the match. On a sidebar...it was fantastic to see Charlotte defeat Alexa Bliss at Survivor
Series less than a week later.
~ SmackDown Live November 7th: A.J Styles vs. Jinder Mahal ~ WWE World Championship Match:
Finally...FINALLY...Jinder's longer than needed World title reign was ended by in my opinion the
best in-ring worker in the world A.J Styles. The match itself was great with Jinder also looking
the best he ever has in a WWE ring and the British crowd was so into it. The entire WWE landscape
seemed so much better once A.J won that belt...and of course that led to Styles vs.
Lesnar at Survivor Series.
~ TakeOver Brooklyn III: Asuka vs. Ember Moon ~ NXT Women's Championship Match:
The last match in NXT for Asuka & in hindsight a match she should have lost...it was leagues
better then their first encounter with a hot crowd and a fantastic "SURPRISE CHOKEHOLD!!!"
finish. I'm honestly still not completely sold on Ember Moon...but even have to admit she
was on another level during this match.
~ NXT TakeOver: Chicago: Tyler Bate vs. Pete Dunne ~ WWE United Kingdom Championship Match:
An incredibly hot crowd, two amazing workers with great chemistry & history and the perfect
amount of time to allow them to tell a fantastic, fast paced in-ring story. Seriously can we get
Pete Dunne on SmackDown? More on this idea in another thread...keep an eye out for that.
~ NXT TakeOver: Wargames: Aleister Black vs. Velveteen Dream:
This is everything I like about wrestling. Two complete opposites, a simple but understandable
story and a highly entertaining match between a technical wizard & heavy striker and an energetic
& brash young star. It truly was a match that after all was said and done...both men came away as
winners.
~ Elimination Chamber: Randy Orton vs. Luke Harper:
Now I have to honest and state I'm a big Luke Harper fan and this match really showed just how
good the guy is. Of course he would disappear from TV about a month later and only resurface
later in the year with a new (and questionable) gimmick...but again...I will always have this match.
Props to the Viper as well as we all know it takes 2 to put on a great singles match.
~ Backlash: Randy Orton vs. Jinder Mahal ~ WWE World Championship Match:
So...I know I said elsewhere on this list that Jinder's title reign lasted too long...and I also think
Shinsuke Nakamura should never have been involved in a title feud with Jinder...but originally
when they put the belt on Jinder...I was actually 110% behind it. The match itself was nothing
special with the only spot of note coming when Randy Orton "botched" putting one of the Singh
Brothers through an announce table (seriously...the expression on the Viper's face was priceless)
but the actual finish and the expressions on fans faces were priceless. In 2016...we had Goldberg
vs. Lesnar at Survivor Series...& in 2017 we have Orton vs. Mahal at Backlash.
~ NXT June 28th: Asuka vs. Nikki Cross ~ Last Women Standing NXT Women's Championship Match:
So this match was in my opinion better than most of the women's TakeOver matches...in fact...why
didn't this match a take place at a TakeOver show? Everyone here knows Asuka is a close third
to Charlotte & Becky for me and I have to admit...there really is something special about Nikki Cross.
~ Elimination Chamber: The Elimination Chamber Match ~ WWE World Championship Match:
Six guys I all respect & enjoy watching, locked in a cool looking structure with Bray Wyatt finally
achieving something of note on the main roster. Sure it was all pissed down the drain at Wrestlemania...
but Wyatt fans will always have this match.
~ NXT TakeOver: Wargames: The Undisputed Era vs. Authors of Pain/Roderick Strong vs. SAni†Y ~ Wargames Match:
This makes my list simply because it was one giant train wreck in a double ring steel cage. I
would have rather seen SAni†Y win...but apparently The Undisputed Era are due for a big push
over the next year.
~ Wrestle Kingdom 11: Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega ~ IWGP Heavyweight Championship Match:
So after all the hype, forum chatter & scale breaking star ratings...I had to check this one out...
and I will admit...having no prior knowledge of either man and no investment either way...this was
truly an amazing match. I will give credit where credit is due and no...I haven't seen parts 2 & 3.
RAINMAKER!!!
~ TLC: A.J Styles vs. The Demon Finn Balor:
I guess Bray Wyatt having the mumps really worked out well for the entire WWE universe because
this match was excellent. Two of the very best in-ring workers showing that sometimes the best
matches don't need months of build up or a title on the line. Just two performers pulling out all the
stops to put on the best match they can for a hot crowd.
~ Fastlane: Neville vs. Jack Gallagher ~ WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match:
My favorite match from Neville's impressive Cruiserweight title reign and the only match at
Fastlane that didn't have me ripping my own hair out. Neville & his "opposite" Gentleman Jack
really did put on a show that managed to get the crowd invested in a cruiserweight match.
~ Wrestlemania 33: Bayley vs. Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax ~ RAW Women's Championship Match:
So...this match could have been so much more than it was...but it was still pretty cool. The triple
powerbomb spot on Nia & Charlotte's beautiful corkscrew moonsault were the main highlights...but
Sasha pinning Charlotte and then turning heel on Bayley to win the title could have made this my
match of the year.
~ Money in the Bank & SmackDown Live June 27th: The Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match Pt.1 & Pt.2:
So...the Human Blob Fish basically ruined both of these matches for me...and I'll always hate him
for that...but these 2 matches make my list simply because they were landmark matches for the
women's division. Hopefully next year the women get another chance on the ladders & no men are
seen within 20 feet of the women's briefcase.
Also...special mention goes to A.J Styles vs. John Cena from the Royal Rumble...it was a great
match...but the end result left me feeling slightly jaded.
And while I'm here these are my...
+ My Top 5 Pay Per Views of the Year +
1). Elimination Chamber
2). Royal Rumble
3). NXT TakeOver: Wargames
4). NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III
5). Summerslam
And because I can...here is my favorite photo of 2017...
And here is my favorite moment of 2017 in Gif form...
I know right...who would have picked that one right?

Well...that about covers me for this year. Thanks for taking the time to read this reflection
and yes...I will be posting one next year.
Y'all take care of yourselves...and I'll hopefully see you all around the traps.

And because I can...here is my favorite photo of 2017...

I know right...who would have picked that one right?

Well...that about covers me for this year. Thanks for taking the time to read this reflection
and yes...I will be posting one next year.
Y'all take care of yourselves...and I'll hopefully see you all around the traps.
