As others have said, he made a dumb play. Admitted to his lie, and then when he was sure he was dying he tried to save face and that truly made it worse. He was doomed

I wouldn't really say it was no reason, I felt like I had a good handle on how Chris usually feels when he's town. So I was just putting far too much stock in to that. Interacting with him didn't feel any different than it normally does, and he seemed engaged mostly.
