In this rewriting of professional wrestling history, the narrative embarks on a journey from September 1995, reimagining the trajectories of the world's most iconic wrestling promotions of the time: WCW, WWF, and ECW. At the heart of this story is the reimagining of these promotions from 1995 onward, delving into a world where the Monday Night Wars, the rise of the nWo, and the hardcore revolution of ECW are just the beginning. This tale captures the essence of an era where wrestling transcended its traditional confines, offering a glimpse into an infinite realm of possibilities where the drama, rivalries, and spectacles of WCW, WWF, and ECW are reborn and reshaped ‘til infinity

Kayfabe Diary #1: Intro to '95 Til

Intro:
Hey BTB! I'm a retired e-fedder / fantasy booker of about maybe 10 years. Im not even sure exactly how I came upon the idea to return to this amazing space filled with some of the more creative people. Oh yea I know *insert CM Punk's First Dance promo*. Uhhh yea, so I am so excited to embark on this journey both with myself and all of y'all. I have rewatched this era of wrestling like genuinely more times than I am willing to admit, but it is no secret and awfully cliche to just admit that this was the golden era of professional wrestling (as far as the mainstream appeal goes).

Mission Statement:
The goal of this project will be to reimagine the wrestling landscape thru the mediums of the North American titans of ECW, WCW, and WWF. There will be things that happen that have happened, things that won't happen that have happened, and most importantly things that did not happen that will see the light thru a fictional rewrite. The story will begin on 9/4/1995, Monday Nitro's debut.

Style:
I love to write and write and write, so this will not be your conventional cagematch-like results page where you are allowed the creative freedom to assume and envision what had happened. I will write out complete promos including the third person happenings of those promos / backstage segments. I have yet to decide what I would like to do with matches. I will probably reserve that to a style in which I have a short narrative on what transpired with the important story beats as well as the incredible moves / moments that may have occurred. I will be utilizng the aMp jpeg folder for the images within the events. I also will be the omnipotent observer in this rewriting. Anyone of my posts that isn't a "kayfabe diary" will be done in complete third person and my self will not be a character within the story. With that being said I will also ensure the booking of each company has a unique style from one another. Despite these ideas coming from my brain solely as well as references of the source material, I will also be utilizing a sort of booker "lens" in which I will not enter the world of fantastical things such as Hulk Hogan getting booked as curtain jerker because I don't care for his wrestling. The booker lens being that of for WCW "would Bischoff book this". I will not be deviating in an extreme way, but I also will not be intentionally writing dogshit stories, so there obviously is a middle of it all. Aside from the Kayfabe Diaries I will also post a Wrestling Observer Newsletter every Sunday to document what has happened as a review in case anyone digests info better that way. As well as an insider view of contract news, important events, and maybe some additional company news. This will be a succinct overview of the week's happenings.
I also thought it important that aside from the Newsletters, the majority of the narrative of this story will be from that of the viewer and not of an insider. Picture it as an incredibly detailed viewer transcribing the events.

Other
For things like *sees my avi* Brian Pillman's death. I will take creative liberty in preventing these things. I'd like to view 95 til as an alternate reality. I actually am workshopping an idea where yearly I randomize potential events such as possible deaths, accidents, etc. Not in a grim way, but in a way that could lead to flexibility with storytelling.

Also contracts will not be made public unless addressed on the WON posts on Sunday. I will have a detailed view on that, that I will keep private because for me part of the magic of this time is not knowing who will show up when and where. Who knows WON might not catch something and someone who hasn't appeared on ECW for weeks may pop up in the WWF. They also will not follow real life lengths or um I won't be talking to a fictional Hogan to help me book Nitro.

Conclusion:
95 Til is a creative endeavor I've envisioned for a while and it feels so good to be taking steps towards this. Seeing as though we are close to the 30 year anniversary of this, I will be releasing the television shows and events on the corresponding days (i.e. Nitro Sept 4 1995 released on Sept 4 2025). I will be uploading rosters, events schedules in the coming days/weeks. And will be in the lab writing up the first batch of shows to start chugging along.

Kayfabe Diary #2: Layout

Hey ! So I just wanted to discuss quickly today the scheduling and layout of how this diary will go. I will be strictly booking the TV Shows, Special Events (ECW), and Pay-Per-Views.

For WCW, it will be Monday Nitro and The Main Event. Nitro will be structured in a similar way as to what it was in real life. Main event will be a 3 match card (1 hour show) every Saturday. Nitro will be live, where Main Event will be stockpiled on tapings.

For WWF, it will be Monday Night Raw and Superstars. Monday Night Raw will be a mixture of live shows and tapings as it was in real life, it will be a 1 hour show to start. Raw will have big money matches in between the pay-per-views and will be utilized for wrestling. Superstars will also be a 1 hour show, however it will be utilized more as a promotional show for Pay-Per-Views and Raw. You will see a more promo-centric and squash match style to the Superstars cards.

For ECW, it will be Hardcore TV and Special Event cards. Hardcore TV will be a similar chaotic style in real life where it is one big compilation video of the craziness that has occurred in the Philadelphia area shows in ECW. It will have an incredibly loose structure in the sense that some HTVs may be only promos or recaps depending on the taping schedule and potential upcoming events. Special events for ECW will act as VHS release supercards. ECW has not received any rights towards PPVs yet, so these will act in their stead.

As you can see in the newly updated database pages, there is a calendar for shows. I have listed "tv tapings and house shows (ECW)", but those shows will not be documented on this page in their full form. They are there simply to further contextualize the event schedule and showcase the proper chronology of things taking place.

I will be sticking to the paralleled release schedule that will begin 09/04 (i.e. 09/04/25 will see the release of all 09/04/95 shows). I may release and delete the first episode of Nitro in the next week just to get the general view and feel from you guys on my writing / formatting style. As you may already tell, I am a stickler for aesthetics and ensuring that my product is showcased in the most palatable and aesthetically pleasing ways is as important to me as the writing itself. I suspect that it will take a bit, but we will get there. I also will assure you that Nitro, Raw, and Hardcore TV will ALL have their own unique formatting. Can't wait !

WCW Monday Nitro #1
09.04.1995
Mall of America, Minneapolis, Minnesota

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The explosions of the Nitro intro video take the place of the opening pyro that certainly would be quite the problem for the Mall of America. However, sparks rain down from the towering silver truss of the entranceway, each burst met with a fresh roar from the packed crowd. The air is electric — a blur of camera flashes, waving signs, and fans pressing against the railings on every level of the mall. Neon storefronts glow in the background, their colors mixing with the rapid-fire strobe of the stage lights. The camera sweeps across every corner of the spectacle — the ring gleaming under bright spotlights, the crowd’s chants rising into a frenzy — before diving toward the announce table positioned at ringside. WCW Monday Nitro is live, and the action starts now as we send it to our commentary team!

Eric Bischoff 0.jpg
Bobby Heenan63.jpg
Steve McMichael (Announcer).jpg
Eric Bischoff:
"Welcome everyone to WCW Monday Nitro — the hottest thing happening on Monday nights! While some folks out there are still stuck watching the same old reruns, we’re bringing you the action as it happens — live, unpredictable, and impossible to ignore. The biggest names, the brightest future, and the kind of matches you’ll be talking about all week long… this is where the pace gets set, and everyone else just tries to keep up. Folks, this… is where the big boys play."

Steve "Mongo" McMichael:
"Oh, you’re not kiddin’, Eric — this is where the big boys play! Look at this crowd, look at this ring — you’ve got the toughest, meanest hombres in the sport right here, ready to lock horns and prove who’s the real deal. No pretenders, no wannabes, just the kind of athletes who can take the hits and dish out even more! And lemme tell ya, brother, if you can’t hang with the big boys, you better pack your bags and find a playground, ‘cause WCW is the deep end of the pool! What do you think, Bobby "The Weasel" Heenan?"

Bobby "The Brain" Heenan:
"Oh please, McMichael — you’re acting like this is a day at the beach. This isn’t just the deep end, this is shark-infested waters, and I know every shortcut to the top. The truth is, some of these so-called ‘big boys’ are gonna find out tonight they’re in over their heads. And when they do, I’ll be the first to say… I told you so."

Eric Bischoff:
"Folks, if you think that’s all we’ve got for you tonight, you’re in for a shock. We’ve got a lineup that’ll blow the roof off this place — championship-caliber matches, rivalries ready to explode, and maybe… just maybe… a few surprises along the way. And we’re not wasting any time, we’re going straight to the action. Kicking things off, it’s two of the most exciting high-flyers in the world — ‘Flyin’ Brian Pillman squaring off against Japan’s own Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger! Strap yourselves in, because this one’s going to be fast, furious, and absolutely unforgettable!"

Bobby "The Brain" Heenan:
"Yeah, and I’ve done my homework on this guy Liger — half man, half tiger, all trouble. These guys from Japan, they move like lightning, they hit like a truck, and they don’t slow down for anybody. Pillman better keep his head on a swivel, or he’s gonna end up like sushi on a plate."
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Match #1:
'Flyin' Brian Pillman vs. Jushin 'Thunder' Liger
Brian Pillman 0.jpg
Jushin Liger 96.jpg

The crowd erupts as 'Flyin’ Brian Pillman bursts through the curtain, all energy and fire, dressed in his signature Bengal-print tights. He slaps hands with fans along the aisle, grinning ear to ear, and points to the upper levels of the mall to get them louder before sliding into the ring in one fluid motion. But the energy shifts as the thundering notes of Jushin 'Thunder' Liger’s theme hit, the lights dimming just enough to cast him in mystery. Emerging in his ornate red-and-white mask with the elaborate horned headdress, Liger steps onto the stage with calm, deliberate movements, his shimmering cape catching the spotlights. As he makes his way to the ring, he acknowledges the fans with a slight nod — not a villain, but a mysterious outsider the crowd hasn’t quite figured out yet.

~Match Begins~

The bell rings, and the crowd is already buzzing. Pillman circles the ring with his eyes locked on Liger, who remains calm and measured in the corner. They step in for a collar-and-elbow tie-up, jockeying for position. Pillman backs Liger into the ropes, offers a clean break, and gets a small cheer from the crowd.

They lock up again, this time Liger grabs a side headlock, grinding it in. Pillman pushes him off into the ropes — Liger rebounds with a shoulder tackle that drops Pillman to the mat. Liger takes off to the ropes, Pillman drops down, pops up, and catches him with a deep arm drag, holding onto the arm in a tight bar.

Liger works back to his feet, flips out, and hits a quick arm drag of his own, both men popping up at the same time. The crowd claps for the even exchange.

They reset, circling. Liger shoots in low, trips Pillman, and floats over into a side headlock takeover, controlling the pace. Pillman fights out, pushes Liger into the ropes — Liger springboards off the second rope with a back elbow that lands flush.

Liger follows up with a snap suplex and a quick cover — 1… Pillman kicks out. Liger stays on him, sending Pillman to the corner and charging in with a handspring back elbow.

The pace picks up as Liger pulls Pillman out, whips him into the ropes, and nails a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, covering again — 1… 2… Pillman gets the shoulder up.

Liger climbs to the top rope for a high-risk move, but Pillman springs to life, leaping up and hitting a dropkick to the back that sends Liger tumbling to the floor.

The crowd roars as Pillman takes off — springboard plancha over the top rope, wiping Liger out at ringside.

Eric Bischoff: "You know, guys, this is exactly the kind of action we’re talking about when we say WCW is looking at bringing in the best from all over the world. There’s talk in the offices about a tournament to find the top cruiserweight in the sport, and if Brian Pillman and Jushin Liger are any indication, that’s going to be must-see competition."

Pillman rolls Liger back inside and heads to the top rope. He comes off with a missile dropkick, then hooks the leg — 1… 2… Liger kicks out.

The match quickens again. Pillman whips Liger into the corner, charges, but Liger leapfrogs over him and catches him on the rebound with a drop toe hold, flowing into a surfboard stretch in the center of the ring. The crowd “oooohs” as Pillman’s shoulders strain.

Pillman powers out after several moments, forcing the break. Both men get to their feet and trade knife-edge chops, the sound echoing in the mall.

Liger takes control with a spinning wheel kick, then signals to the crowd. He whips Pillman into the ropes, but Pillman counters with a flying headscissors takedown, sending Liger to the corner.

Pillman climbs the turnbuckles, raining down punches as the crowd counts along — 1! 2! 3! … but Liger slips underneath, grabbing Pillman and dropping him with a Liger-Bomb! Cover — 1… 2… Pillman kicks out just in time.

Liger sets up for a big finish as Pillman stumbles to his feet after the kick-out, but there’s commotion at ringside — the camera catches Sonny Oono and Ultimo Dragon in the crowd, watching closely. Pillman’s attention snaps toward them, clearly distracted.

Liger takes advantage, grabbing Pillman from behind and rolling him into an O'Connor Roll Pin— 1… 2… 3!

The bell rings and the crowd gives a mixed but appreciative reaction. Liger’s hand is raised in victory as he gives a quick glance toward Oono and Dragon before exiting the ring, leaving Pillman to recover and stare toward the mysterious onlookers.

Result:
Jushin 'Thunder' Liger pins Brian Pillman with an O'Connor Roll in 7:02

Promo Segment:
A Veteran's Plea
Eric Bischoff: "Welcome back to WCW Monday Nitro, folks — and let me tell you, if you thought the action before the break was something, we’ve still got a lot more coming your way tonigh-"

Before Bischoff can finish, Kevin Sullivan storms into frame wearing street clothes — jeans, a black t-shirt, and a scowl that could cut glass. The crowd’s noise dips into a mix of boos and curious murmurs.

As Sullivan grabs a mic from the broadcasting table and rolls into the ring, his scowl dips into a more impassioned and forgiving look. It is clear that what we are getting is not the Dungeon of Doom's Taskmaster, but instead.... Kevin Sullivan.

Kevin Sullivan (Varsity Club) 2.jpg
Kevin Sullivan: "You know, Minnesota… I’ve been at this a long time. I’ve wrestled in bingo halls, I’ve fought in parking lots, I’ve been in arenas packed to the rafters — and I’ve done a lot of things in that ring that, if I’m being honest, I’m not proud of. I’ve taken shortcuts, I’ve hurt people just to prove a point, and I’ve been called every name you can think of. And maybe… maybe I deserved it."

He pauses, glancing around at the crowd filling the balconies and railings of the Mall of America.
Kevin Sullivan: "But tonight, standing here looking at what Nitro’s becoming… this, right here, is the future. And for me, maybe it’s the last chapter. I’m not the young, hungry kid from Boston anymore. I can feel the clock ticking, and I don’t know how many more matches I’ve got in me. But I’ll tell you this — however much time is left, I want to spend it differently. I don’t want to be remembered just for the cheap shots, the sneak attacks, the things I did in the dark. I want to turn a new leaf. I want to make my last run here in WCW one I can be proud of."

Arn Anderson’s music hits like a gunshot, and the crowd turns as “The Enforcer” storms through the curtain, jaw set and eyes locked forward, radiating a cold, coiled anger with every step toward the ring.

Arn Anderson 3.jpg
Arn Anderson: "Kevin… I’ve been standing back there listening to you pour your little black heart out, and I’ve got to tell you — it’s the most pathetic thing I’ve ever heard come out of another man’s mouth. You want to talk about the bad things you’ve done? Well guess what — I’ve done plenty myself. I’ve blindsided men, I’ve taken out more knees than I can count, I’ve put people on the shelf, and I’d do it again tomorrow if it meant getting the job done. You know why? Because that’s this business. That’s how you survive."

He steps closer, locking eyes with Sullivan.
Arn Anderson: "So when I hear you stand out here talking about turning over a new leaf, all I see is weakness. And truth be told, I don’t believe a word of it anyway. Men like us don’t change, Kevin — we just find new ways to win. So either you’ve lost your edge, or you’re out here running a con. And either way… it’s pathetic."

Sullivan’s face tightens, his eyes flicking between the crowd and the floor as Arn’s words sink in. Without a word, he lowers the mic, takes a slow step back, and rolls out under the bottom rope. He paces at ringside for a moment, visibly torn between anger and shame, his head shaking as the fans murmur. Avoiding eye contact with Arn, he turns up the aisle, the camera catching a final look of confusion, embarrassment, and something almost vulnerable before he disappears behind the curtain.

Steve McMichael (Announcer).jpg
Steve 'Mongo' McMichael: "I hate to say it boys, but Double A’s right on the money with this one. In this game, you don’t start cryin’ about the past — you own it. You either stay the big dog in the yard or you get run out, and right now, Sullivan’s lookin’ like he forgot how to bite."

Match #2:
US Heavyweight Title Match
Ric Flair (c) vs. Sting

WCW United States 2.jpg

Ric Flair 95.jpg
Sting 95 6.jpg

As Sullivan disappears through the curtain, Arn Anderson finally breaks his glare and turns toward the aisle. The crowd shifts from murmurs to cheers as Ric Flair’s music hits, the U.S. Heavyweight Champion stepping out in a gleaming robe, gold glinting under the arena lights. Arn meets him halfway down the ramp — no words exchanged, just a quick, firm tap of knuckles between Horsemen before Arn heads to the back. Flair struts the rest of the way, soaking in the “Wooo!” from every corner of the mall.

The mood changes as Sting’s entrance music blasts, the challenger bursting through the curtain with a burst of energy, sprinting toward the ring as fans on every level of the Mall of America clap and shout. The tension is set — champion versus challenger, Ric Flair versus Sting, for the United States Heavyweight Title. The referee raises the belt high, and the crowd roars in anticipation.

~Match Begins~

The bell rings and Flair circles the ring, adjusting his knee pads, eyes locked on Sting. Sting pounds his chest, the crowd roaring in response. They meet in the center with a collar-and-elbow tie-up, Sting overpowering Flair into the corner. Flair throws up his hands for a clean break, but slips in a quick chop to the chest, smirking as Sting just stares back unfazed.

They lock up again, Sting again pushing Flair into the corner, returning the favor with a thunderous knife-edge chop that drops Flair to a knee. Flair pops up, shakes it off, and calls for a test of strength. Sting obliges, quickly forcing Flair down until Flair kicks him in the midsection, breaking the hold. Flair grabs a side headlock, Sting pushes him into the ropes, and Flair hits a shoulder tackle. Flair struts, but Sting kips up immediately, causing the crowd to erupt.

Flair tries a second tackle, but Sting leapfrogs, hits the ropes, and takes Flair down with a running clothesline. Sting covers — 1… Flair kicks out. Flair rolls to the floor to regroup, pacing and jawing at the fans in the front row. Sting follows him out, stalking him around the ring until Flair slides in and catches Sting rolling into the ring behind him with boots to the midsection.

Flair takes over with a series of knife-edge chops in the corner, but Sting reverses an Irish whip, sending Flair chest-first into the opposite turnbuckle. Sting charges with a Stinger Splash to the back, the impact sending Flair tumbling down and under the ropes to the floor. The crowd is on its feet as Sting follows him out, ramming Flair’s head into the guardrail before rolling him back in.

Sting climbs to the top rope and hits a flying clothesline, covering — 1… 2… Flair gets the shoulder up. Sting pulls him to his feet, but Flair cuts him off with a knee to the midsection and a vertical suplex, floating into the cover — 1… 2… Sting powers out.

Flair methodically works the left leg, dropping elbows onto the knee, snapping it over the bottom rope, and hitting a shinbreaker. He hooks the leg — 1… 2… Sting kicks out. Flair signals for the Figure-Four Leglock, but Sting shoves him off into the turnbuckles and rolls him up — 1… 2… Flair escapes.

Around the ten-minute mark, the crowd stirs — the camera catches Lex Luger standing in the aisle, arms crossed, chest puffed, as fans around him point and shout. Both men glance his way but stay focused on the match.

Lex Luger 95 2.jpg

Back in the ring, Flair whips Sting into the ropes, but Sting reverses and catches Flair with a gorilla press slam. Sting covers — 1… 2… Flair barely kicks out. Sting hits another Stinger Splash, then points to the crowd before dragging Flair to the center of the ring and locking in the Scorpion Deathlock. The Mall of America comes unglued as Flair struggles, clawing for the ropes.

Suddenly, Luger storms the ring from the crowd, sliding under the bottom rope. Without hesitation, he drills Sting in the back of the head with his bionic forearm smash. Sting collapses to the mat as the referee immediately calls for the bell, waving his arms to signal a disqualification.

Result:
Sting wins by DQ over Flair due to outside interference at 14:03

Flair rolls to the apron, smirking at the chaos, as Luger stands over Sting. The crowd is in an uproar — some booing, some cheering — as the mystery deepens over where Lex Luger’s loyalties truly lie and why he's here in WCW.

Bobby Heenan63.jpg
Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan: "Now THAT’S how you make an entrance! That’s Lex Luger, right there — the man I told all of you was destined for greatness many years ago! You think he’s here to shake hands and kiss babies? No, no, no. He’s here to make an impact… and he just made one right on the back of the Stinger’s skull! People are gonna spin this, they’re gonna say Luger’s this, Luger’s that… I’ll tell you what he is — smart. He’s aligning himself with the right people. Maybe, just maybe, The Total Package and the Nature Boy are thinking a few steps ahead of everybody else. That’s why they win and you people just buy the tickets! …And hey, Lex — if you’re listening, next time you’re plotting a big moment like this, give your old pal the Brain a call, huh? I could’ve been out there too, but no, here I am stuck next to these two knuckleheads!"

"What a night it’s been so far here on WCW Monday Nitro! We’ve seen incredible action, big surprises, and folks — we are just getting started! And coming up in our main event tonight, you’re gonna see the biggest name in professional wrestling, the man who’s carried the banner everywhere he’s gone — Hulk Hogan — go one-on-one with Big Bubba Rogers!"

Steve 'Mongo' McMichael:
"That’s right, baby! The Hulkster’s in the house, and when those 24-inch pythons get pumpin’, there’s not a man alive who can stop ’em! Big Bubba’s tough, but Hogan’s the guy who defines where the big boys play!"

Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan:
"Sure, sure… Hogan’s here, we’re supposed to roll out the red carpet. Let’s not forget, Big Bubba Rogers is a man who’s made a career out of stopping big names in their tracks. And if Hogan underestimates him for one second, well… maybe I’ll get to see the look on Hogan’s face when that carpet gets pulled right out from under him."

Eric Bischoff:
"Love him or hate him, Hulk Hogan always delivers. Tonight, you’re gonna see him put on a show, and you’d better believe Bubba’s not coming to lay down for anybody. It’s the main event of the very first Nitro, and it’s coming your way..... next!"

Non-Title Singles Match

Hulk Hogan vs. Big Bubba Rogers
Hulk Hogan76.jpg
Big Bubba Rogers 2.jpg

~Match Begins~

The bell rings and the two men circle, Bubba jawing at Hogan while Hogan plays to the crowd. They lock up, and Bubba uses his size to back Hogan into the corner, shoving him and talking trash. Hogan steps back out, points a finger at Bubba, and the crowd erupts.

They lock up again, and this time Hogan applies a side headlock, but Bubba shoots him off into the ropes and floors him with a shoulder tackle. Bubba smirks and brushes his hands off, but Hogan kips up and points to him again.

Bubba charges, Hogan ducks under, and catches him with a big clothesline. Hogan follows with a body slam to a huge pop. Bubba rolls out to regroup, pacing angrily, before sliding back in.

Bubba catches Hogan off guard with a thumb to the eye and a hard right hand. He whips Hogan into the corner, follows in with a running splash, then drops Hogan with a falling elbow drop for a two-count.

Bubba keeps on him, choking Hogan on the middle rope before sending him off the ropes for a sidewalk slam — 1… 2… Hogan kicks out with authority! Bubba tries a second pin, but Hogan powers out again.

Bubba hooks Hogan for a suplex, but Hogan blocks it twice and delivers his own vertical suplex! Hogan goes for the cover — 1… 2… Bubba kicks out.

Bubba rakes the eyes again, whips Hogan to the ropes, and catches him in a bearhug, trying to wear the Hulkster down. Hogan begins to fade, the referee checking his arm… but on the third drop, Hogan holds it up! The crowd comes alive as Hogan breaks free with three right hands.

Bubba cuts him off with a big boot to the midsection, whips him in, and goes for a clothesline — Hogan ducks, rebounds, and they collide with a double clothesline that puts both men down.

Both slowly get to their feet. Bubba lands a right hand, but Hogan starts shaking his head. Another right — Hogan points the finger. Bubba throws a third, Hogan blocks it, and here comes the Hulk up sequence: three right hands by Hogan, an irish whip into the big boot, and the crowd explodes. Hogan starts hitting his patent "I can't hear you" motions before Hogan bounces off the ropes and delivers the atomic leg drop to the proned Bubba.

1… 2… 3! Hogan gets the victory.

Result:
Hogan pins Bubba Rogers after an atomic leg drop at 8:32

After the bell, Hogan’s celebration is cut short when Lex Luger walks out from the entranceway, eyes locked on the Hulkster. The crowd buzzes, unsure of his intentions. Luger stops at ringside, arms crossed, sizing Hogan up like a predator studying his prey before rolling into the ring and sizing up Hogan eye-to-eye.

Lex Luger 95 2.jpg

Hogan glances out to the crowd, mouthing, “Should I fight him?” The fans roar their approval, urging him on.

Suddenly, Sting slides into the ring, stepping up beside Hogan. Sting’s presence shifts the energy — the two stand shoulder-to-shoulder, united in facing Luger.

Luger smirks, laughs under his breath, and slowly backs away up the aisle, never taking his eyes off them. The tension hangs thick in the air.

Inside the ring, Sting and Hogan turn toward each other, exchanging a few quiet but intense words as the fans cheer them on, leaving questions unanswered as Nitro goes off the air.

Really enjoying this so far. The format is incredible, and your attention to detail is crazy good. Maybe we should all consider a ten year hiatus at some point and come back with a bang like you are lol.

I will always have a soft spot for this time period, as it is such a fun timeline to book. So many different stories can be told, and with you taking on all three promotions, I'm pumped to see how the entire wrestling world chugs along into 1996. Really excited to see the direction you take ECW in terms of who you keep around and who gets called to WWF/WCW.

I'll definitely be following along. Wishing you the best of luck with this project!

ECW Hardcore TV #124
09.05.1995
ECW Arena, Philadelphia, Pa

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stylish Intro
Joey Styles 4.jpg
Joey Styles:
“Welcome, everyone, to another edition of Extreme Championship Wrestling! Joey Styles here, and if you’ve been away from ECW Hardcore TV for a few weeks — ohhh brother, have you missed a war zone! Let me bring you up to speed before the bodies start flying tonight in the ECW Arena!
Your ECW World Heavyweight Champion… yes, you heard me right… is The Sandman! The beer-swilling, cane-swinging, chain-smoking lunatic is holding the top prize in the most extreme company in the world, and somehow he’s been managing to survive as a fighting champion in the middle of more chaos than we’ve ever seen!
The ECW World Tag Team Champions — as bizarre as it is to say — are Stevie Richards and Raven. Yes, Stevie, the same goof who used to dance in the aisle, now draped in gold thanks to his dark master Raven! The nest is strong, and they’ve been making life hell for anyone who dares cross them.
And your ECW World Television Champion is Too Cold Scorpio — the smoothest, flashiest, and baddest high-flyer to ever set foot in an ECW ring. But tonight, Scorpio defends the gold against a man who has been tearing through ECW with ruthless precision — The Crippler, Chris Benoit — in what everyone in the locker room knows could very well be Benoit’s final match in ECW! And if it is… you can bet your last dollar he’s going to try to go out with championship gold in his hands!
And that’s not all — in six-man tag team action that could level the building — The Sandman teams up with Public Enemy’s Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge to go to war with New Jack and Mustafa of The Gangstaz, and the most unpredictable, sadistic man in ECW — Cactus Jack! There’s no telling if this match will even resemble wrestling, and frankly, that’s why we love it here in ECW!
Fans, buckle in — because tonight… anything can happen, and probably will… right here, where the EXTREME never dies!”
Under the Bridge
Raven 6.jpg
Stevie Richards 8.jpg
The camera cuts into a VHS static transition to an amateurly shot cut of a dim and grim tunnel under a bridge. Water echoes as it drips from the ceiling, puddles forming at their feet. Raven sits hunched on a graffitied concrete ledge, arms draped over his knees, hair hanging in his face. Stevie Richards stands beside him, shifting from foot to foot, holding one of the Tag Team belts awkwardly.
Raven:
“In the underbelly of the city… the light is a liar. Shadows tell the truth. The rats here… they know more about loyalty than any man in this business. They don’t smile at you, Stevie… they don’t pretend to like you… they either bite you, or they stay away. But people… people smile… right before they stab you in the spine.”
Stevie:
“…Wait, is this about Tommy Dreamer? Or the guy who stole my bike last week?”
Raven (ignores him, keeps talking):
“Gold… gold is just a chain for the slave who wears it willingly. These belts… they don’t make us free, Stevie. They shackle us to expectation. They’re an anchor dragging us to the depths where failure sleeps.”
Stevie (holding up the belt):
“…Yeah but this is real gold, right? ‘Cause I showed it to my mom and she said it looked like spray paint.”
Raven slowly turns his head, stares at Stevie through the strands of his wet hair.
Raven:
“She doesn’t understand… none of them do. The bridge above us… people cross it every day, never looking down. Never seeing the filth, the forgotten, the truth beneath their feet. We’re the truth, Stevie. We’re the reminder that the world they built is rotting from the foundation.”
Stevie (nodding seriously):
“Right… so… we’re like… the rats?”
Raven:
“No, Stevie… we’re the plague that feeds the rats.”
Stevie (smiling wide, completely missing the darkness of it):
“Ohhh… okay! Wait— is that a good thing?”
Raven leans forward, resting his elbows on his knees, staring into the puddle at his feet. The camera moves in close. His voice drops to a near-whisper.
Raven:
“It’s the only thing worth being… quote the Raven… nevermore.”
Stevie:
“…And Stevie says… forevermore! No, wait, that’s not it—”
Raven shoots him a withering look as the shot fades to black.
Gangstaz' Threat
New Jack 3.jpg
Mustapha Saed 3.jpg
Camera cuts to a dingy brick wall in the back of the ECW Arena. There’s a busted-up table with beer bottles and an old boombox blaring low-volume Wu-Tang Clan. New Jack is pacing back and forth, shirtless, bandana tied tight, his eyes locked on the camera. Mustafa stands next to him, chewing gum slow, holding a chain wrapped around his fist.
New Jack:
“lemme tell y’all somethin’! PUBLIC ENEMY! Every damn week, I hear you two white boys out here talkin’ ‘bout how you from the streets, how you from the hood, how you the realest thing in this business—”
New Jack stops, laughs hard, almost choking.
“—Man, please! You two ain’t from no streets I ever walked. You two from the fuckin’ suburbs with a mailbox out front, dog. You from a street called ‘Maple Lane’ or some shit. You don’t know a damn thing ‘bout what we had to live through. You don’t know ‘bout roaches in the cereal box. You don’t know ‘bout steppin’ over bodies on the way to school. You don’t know ‘bout watchin’ your people get locked up just ‘cause they was breathin’.”
Mustafa:
“Uh huh… they don’t know ‘bout eatin’ outta a can ‘cause the stove don’t work… they don’t know nothin’ ‘bout hustlin’ just to keep the lights on. They think wearin’ some baggy pants and dancin’ makes ‘em street.”
New Jack (pointing right at the camera, heated):
“Johnny Grunge! Rocco Rock! You two are pretend gangstas. You the type that watch a movie, see some boys gettin’ wild, and go, ‘Yo, that’s us!’ Nah, motherfucka, that ain’t you! That’s us! This shit we talk about, we lived it! You just read about it in a fuckin’ magazine and thought it was cute!”
New Jack smirks, pacing again.
New Jack:
“You wanna talk ‘bout respect? You can’t buy the shit we got! We earned ours in alleys, in the yard, in places you two too scared to even drive through! And don’t think we ain’t see what you been doin’… stealin’ from our culture, tryin’ to act like us, tryin’ to be us… but when the cops roll up, you two can go back to bein’ ‘regular white boys’ real fuckin’ quick.”
Mustafa (grinning wide, almost laughing):
“They don’t want it real. They want it TV real. They want it Hollywood real. But y’all in ECW… and this is gangsta real.”
New Jack (leaning in close to the camera, eyes wide, deadly serious):
“So later tonight… when we step in that ring… we ain’t comin’ to wrestle. We comin’ to make an example. We gon’ beat you like you stole somethin’… ‘cause far as I’m concerned, you already did. And when you layin’ there bleedin’, maybe… just maybe… you’ll understand what the fuck the word street really means.”
Mustafa starts laughing low, and New Jack suddenly yells one last time, pointing straight at the lens.
New Jack:
“PUBLIC ENEMY… WE COMIN’ TO TAKE YOU OUT FOR GOOD"
They both shove the camera, cutting to static.
Back on the Rails
Joey Styles 4.jpg
Static fades out.
Cut to Joey Styles in the Eagles Nest, arms crossed, shaking his head with a little smirk.
Joey Styles:
“Well… ladies and gentlemen… believe it or not, this is still a wrestling program, not some late-night cable talk show where we just listen to people scream obscenities at each other for ten minutes straight… although, admittedly, that does seem to be part of our charm here in Extreme Championship Wrestling.”
Joey leans forward slightly, looking down at the action in the ring.
Joey Styles:
“And speaking of wrestling—right now in the ring, things are already out of control! We’ve got Tommy Dreamer and the biggest man in ECW, 911, taking on Ian Rotten and Hack Meyers—and we are already deep into the second half of this one!”
Camera cuts to the ring.
Tommy Dreamer is slugging it out with Ian Rotten in one corner while 911 has Hack Meyers by the throat in the opposite corner, the crowd roaring “911! 911!” with every movement. Tables are set up ominously at ringside, and the mat is littered with debris from earlier exchanges.
Joey Styles (voiceover):
“This one’s been a fight from the opening bell, folks, and if you’ve been with us for any length of time… you know that’s exactly how these four like it!”
Dreamer has Ian Rotten cornered, lighting him up with hard right hands before whipping him across the ring into the turnbuckles. Rotten staggers forward into a swinging neckbreaker from Dreamer. Without missing a beat, Dreamer drags Rotten up and fires him into the ropes—big back body drop sends him crashing down.
Across the ring, 911 steps over the top rope and makes his way toward Hack Meyers, who’s barely gotten to his knees. The crowd starts chanting “Chokeslam! Chokeslam!” 911 grabs Meyers by the back of the head and drags him over the top rope into the ring like a rag doll.
Rotten stumbles back toward Dreamer—DDT! Rotten’s head spikes into the canvas with a sick thud.
911 doesn’t wait—he plants a massive hand around Meyers’ throat, hoists him high into the air—CHOKESLAM! Meyers bounces off the mat like a basketball.
Dreamer hooks Rotten’s leg for the pin, while 911 casually plants a boot on Meyers’ chest.
Cover — 1.....2......3!
The bell rings instantly as the crowd roars for the decisive victory.
911 and Tommy Dreamer win by Pinfall via DDT and Chokeslam in 8:30
Joey Styles 4.jpg
Joey Styles (from the Eagles Nest):
“Well, if you came here tonight looking for a competitive wrestling clinic, you clearly tuned in to the wrong match. Dreamer and 911 just turned Ian Rotten and Hack Meyers into roadkill—and speaking of roadkill, it’s time for something a little less pretty and a lot more violent!”
Styles gestures toward the ring as the camera cuts to the entrance area.
Joey Styles:
“Up next, a war straight out of your worst nightmares — New Jack, Mustafa, and Cactus Jack collide with the unlikely trio of the ECW World Heavyweight Champion Sandman, Rocco Rock, and Johnny Grunge! Forget strategy, forget technique — this one’s about pain, grudges, and how much chaos you can survive!”
The bell sounds and all six men charge each other in the middle of the ring, fists flying. Sandman immediately cracks Cactus Jack across the head with the Singapore cane, sending him reeling backward into the ropes. Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge double-team Mustafa in the corner with rapid-fire right hands, while New Jack slips to the floor, grabbing a steel chair from ringside.
New Jack slides back in and blasts Grunge in the ribs with the chair, forcing him to roll out under the bottom rope. New Jack follows him to the floor, the two of them brawling toward the guardrail. Inside the ring, Mustafa overpowers Rocco with a headbutt to the chest, then tosses him to the outside, where Mustafa follows.
Sandman and Cactus are the only two left in the ring. Sandman boots Cactus in the gut and sets up for a suplex, but Cactus blocks, then hooks Sandman for a swinging neckbreaker. Cactus heads to the apron, dropping to the floor to keep the fight going out there.
At ringside, Rocco Rock and Mustafa trade trash can lid shots near the timekeeper’s table. Just a few feet away, Grunge drives New Jack into the guardrail before grabbing a frying pan from under the ring and smacking him in the back of the head.
On the other side of the ring, Sandman whips Cactus into the steel post, then climbs onto the apron, beer in hand, to take a swig before swinging the cane down onto Cactus’ back. Cactus stumbles forward, grabs Sandman’s legs, and yanks him off the apron onto the concrete.
All six men end up on the floor together now, the brawl shifting toward the aisle. Public Enemy work over New Jack with a double Irish whip into the guardrail, while Sandman and Cactus exchange punches near the entrance curtain. Mustafa clubs Rocco Rock from behind, tossing him back into the ring.
Inside, Mustafa hooks Rocco and drives him into the mat with a powerslam. Grunge tries to make the save, but New Jack blindsides him with a chair shot to the spine. The Gangstas double-team Grunge until Sandman slides in, cane swinging wildly, dropping Mustafa with a shot to the ribs.
Cactus cuts Sandman off with a cactus clothesline, taking both of them over the top rope to the floor again.
Back in the ring, Public Enemy rally with a double back elbow on New Jack, followed by synchronized elbow drops. They signal for the Drive-By, but before they can hit it, Mustafa charges in with a clothesline that wipes out both men.
Sandman re-enters, targeting Cactus with punches, and then plants him with a DDT onto a steel chair. Sandman raises the cane to finish him off — but Raven jumps the rail from the crowd. He grabs the cane mid-swing and smashes it into Sandman’s ribs.
Raven 6.jpg
Sandman collapses, clutching his side, as Raven slides out of the ring and disappears into the crowd. Cactus grins, drags Sandman up, and nails a double-arm DDT onto the chair. Cover 1.......2.......3!
Cactus Jack pins Sandman with a Cactus DDT on a chair at 13:02
Post-match, the Gangstas spill out to the floor, trading wild punches and weapon shots with Public Enemy all the way to the guardrail. Inside the ring, Cactus Jack stays behind, standing over the fallen Sandman.
He stoops down, grabs Sandman’s Singapore cane in one hand… then notices the ECW World Heavyweight Title lying just a few feet away. Cactus slowly picks it up, his breathing heavy, his eyes wide and unblinking. He turns it over in his hands, almost caressing it, then starts to grin — not a happy grin, but the wild, unnerving smile of a man who might snap at any moment.
Cactus kneels over Sandman, holding the belt just inches from his face, shouting something inaudible over the chaos at ringside. His grin widens, his head tilts, and he finally lifts the belt high over his head as the crowd erupts.
Up in the stands, Raven watches with a smirk, leaning casually against the guardrail. Down below, Cactus’s maniacal stare remains locked on the championship, as if the rest of the world has ceased to exist.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Joey Styles 4.jpg

Joey Styles:
“Ladies and gentlemen… what you just saw was absolute chaos — and with Cactus Jack staring at the ECW World Title like that, you can bet the Sandman’s got a target on his back bigger than the beer in his hand. But right now… I want you to stop what you’re doing, because we are about to witness what may go down in the history books as the ECW Match of the Year!”

Joey leans over the railing, his voice rising with genuine excitement.

Joey Styles:
“On one side, you’ve got a man whose ruthless aggression has made him one of the most feared competitors in the world — The Crippler Chris Benoit. And on the other, the reigning ECW World Television Champion — a man who can take flight at any moment, defy gravity itself, and still hit you hard enough to knock you into next week — Too Cold Scorpio!”

He slams his fist into the palm of his hand for emphasis.

Joey Styles:
“This is more than a title defense — this is a collision of styles and it just so happens to be Benoit’s last night in ECW! He’s not walking out without leaving it all in the ring, and Scorpio’s not about to let the TV Title slip through his fingers! Fans… buckle up, because this one is going to be something special!”

The crowd roars as the camera pans down toward the ring, where both men stand in opposite corners, eyes locked.

Too Cold Scorpio (C) vs. "Crippler" Chris Benoit

ECW TV 4.jpg

Chris Benoit 96 2.jpg

The crowd is already buzzing as the bell rings. Benoit and Scorpio circle, eyes locked, the electricity in the ECW Arena tangible as always. They lock up dead center, Benoit muscling Scorpio back toward the ropes, but breaking clean with a small nod. Scorpio returns it. Another collar-and-elbow tie-up, Scorpio slips behind with a quick waistlock, but Benoit executes a textbook standing switch, snapping Scorpio over with a waistlock takedown. Scorpio quickly pops up, both men reset, and the crowd applauds.

Benoit shoots in, catching Scorpio’s leg and tripping him, floating over into a front facelock as Scorpio tried to cradle up. Scorpio uses his agility to roll through, popping to his feet and delivering a light dropkick to the chest that sends Benoit stumbling back just a step. Scorpio backs into the corner, smirking, gesturing “come on.” Benoit answers with a hard knife-edge chop, followed by another — the sharp crack echoing through the building. Scorpio fires back with one of his own. They trade chops until Scorpio lands a sudden spinning heel kick that catches Benoit flush on the jaw, knocking him to a knee.

Scorpio whips Benoit into the ropes, leapfrogs over, but Benoit hits the rebound with a thunderous shoulder block, knocking Scorpio flat. Benoit scoops him up and hits a snap suplex with perfect form, covering for one before Scorpio kicks out. Another snap suplex, this time Benoit floats over into a grounded headlock, grinding down on Scorpio’s neck. Scorpio works to his feet, firing punches to the midsection, but Benoit cuts him off with a stiff forearm. Whip to the ropes, tilt-a-whirl backbreaker by Benoit, and another cover for 1......2.. kick out.

Benoit sends Scorpio into the corner and charges, but Scorpio sidesteps and Benoit collides with the turnbuckles. Scorpio springs to the second rope and hits a twisting crossbody for a near fall. He pops up and peppers Benoit with a series of martial arts-style kicks, spinning and connecting with a jumping crescent kick that sends Benoit tumbling through the ropes to the floor. Scorpio climbs to the top rope, waits, and then launches himself to the outside with a diving plancha, taking Benoit down hard as the crowd chants “E-C-W!”

Back inside, Scorpio whips Benoit into the ropes, ducks down for a back body drop, but Benoit counters mid-run with a swinging neckbreaker. Benoit drags Scorpio up, hooks him, and plants him with a German suplex — holding the bridge for a 1.....2.....kickout. Benoit pulls him up for another German, but Scorpio lands on his feet this time, catching Benoit with a quick enzuigiri. They trade heavy forearms mid-ring until Benoit hits a dragon suplex, releasing on impact, Scorpio completely laid out on the mat, a murmur rumbles across the ECW arena as Scorpio had quite the awkward landing. Benoit climbs the top rope, leaping for the Diving Headbutt, but Scorpio rolls away at the last second and Benoit crashes to the mat.

Scorpio pulls Benoit up and hits a quick scoop slam and climbs the top rope. The crowd rises as he hits a 450 Splash. Hooking the leg for a 1......2...... KICK OUT at 2.99999 by Benoit!

Scorpio pounds Benoit with a flurry of fists while still proned and heads back to the top rope, this time facing backwards towards the proned Benoit. Scorpio then skies off the top rope with a MOONSAULT LEG DROP across Benoit’s chest, hooking the leg for the 1......2.......3!

Too Cold Scorpio pins Benoit via Moonsault Leg Drop in 16:04
The crowd roars as Scorpio sits up, exhausted but grinning. He offers a hand to Benoit, who accepts it, both men nodding in mutual respect as the ECW Arena gives them a standing ovation.

Benoit rolls out first, giving the classic belief that despite it being his last night, the champion should close the show in front of the crowd. Benoit circles the front row of the crowd giving handshakes and hugs to those around. Scorpio is on the top rope pointing in appreciation to Benoit. Benoit then ends his parade by getting on his knees and thanking the ECW crowd on the entrance ramp before heading to the back.

Scorpio is wrapping up his own celebration and appreciation to the crowd when a hooded figure slides into the ring and blindsides Scorpio with a steel pipe to the back of the head.

Lights still flashing from the aftermath of the beatdown. Konnan rolls back into the ring, grabs the mic, and paces as Scorpio is being helped to the back. Fans are booing, a few shouting “Scorpio! Scorpio!” Konnan smirks, waits for them to quiet down just enough.

Konnan:
¿Lo vieron, ECW? Did you see that? Your boy Scorpio, flat on his back, buscando aire like a fish outta water.

Points to where Scorpio left.

Konnan:
That wasn’t a fight, ese… that was a mensaje. A warning.
For too long, this place has been the same caras viejas — the same old faces, the same old moves. But me? I’m bringing something you can’t stop. I’m bringing la ola mexicana and tonight was just the first splash.

Crowd boos — Konnan smirks and talks over them

Konnan:
Scorpio, you danced your way past Benoit tonight. Felicidades, cabron. But on September 16, right here in this building, I’m bringing mi hermano, mi sangre… Rey Misterio Jr.

Crowd pops at the name — Konnan leans into it

Konnan:
Yeah, cheer now. You won’t be cheering when Rey moves like a sombra — a shadow — and you don’t even see him until you’re flat on your back, staring at the techo, asking yourself “¿Qué me pasó?”
This ain’t just about Scorpio. Todos ustedes are gonna see it. ECW is about to change. Faster. Más violento. Más peligroso. And when this wave hits… it’s gonna smash through every one of your heroes, and leave them floating like basura in the street.

Crowd boos loud — Konnan steps up to the ropes and points to a fan

Konnan:
¿Entiendes, perro? Scorpio’s finished.
Vas a besar el piso y suplicar por tu mamá.

¡Arriba la Raza!

Konnan drops the mic hard, steps through the ropes, and heads to the back as the crowd rains down a mix of boos and chants.

The feed on Pennsylvania local broadcasting cuts out as the clock hits 1 am.
