I think it was intended to give AJ an extra edge and for his character to get some much needed fuel as he leaves the main event scene.

I don't think any of the 5 you suggested will happen (before Mania at least). He will have a feud and match at mania for sure. Most likely Orton.

Becoming the new AJ Styles is an interesting idea. That would mean AJ vs Bryan will continue again down the line which is cool

I think it’ll continue the DB and AJ feud for a little while. If not, he might be in line to win the Royal Rumble.

It looks like AJ is being groomed to be the next big thing. They always pick one person to take the lead and have him be the center of attention. Hulk Hogan started a trend that Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Kevin Nash, even Sgt. Slaughter for his brief run, continued to this day. Narrow focus is always the top priority of WWE and I think the time has come to either have a broader vision, or call it quits.

Then again, it's been more than 30 years since Hulkamania ran wild, so I have my doubts.

Well he has been non stop pushed since he's debut. Already won multiple titles and main events. The guy already became the next big thing.

Yeah, but they were still pushing a lot for Roman over AJ not long ago. Before he unfortunately had to stop wrestling, now they can focus on making AJ the face of the company. I mean even tho he has been pushed, was WWE champion and a top star on smackdown, he was rarely in the main event on PPV.
