I think they would do it as many times if you bought it within the last two years.

I've had the red rings 3 times already

when was the last time you had them??? I have a trick.... I know it sounds sketchy till I SAW my good friend do it and it worked bro

Take your hard drive out, unplug the one cord, but leave the power cord in.... turn it on till the red rings come on. Then rap it in two towels TIGHTLY for 15 mins. Then, after that 15mins, take the towels off, then put the hard drive on, and stand it up for 10 mins, hard drive up. Unplug ALL cords when doing so (it quickly cools it down)

After that 10 mins, plug all cords back in, and your good. Trust me, it works, I saw it in action working like this last Friday, DID NOT believe it would...

It all depends how many rings you have. If it's all four you just need to check how tight your av cord is in. If you have three, not so good, but Microsoft gives you one free and the next one is 100 spankys. My brother in law fixes them really easy and has the machines Microsoft uses to fix them, but you can craiglist it and find someone who will do it for 40 bucks. Pain in the ass with the box, think they would have fixed it when it became apparent they were pieces of shit in 2006.

Yeah, it's the 3 of course and like I said, I used the free one already. I'm thinking at this point it's not even worth it. Thinking about switching over the PS3.

Sounds like it would cause more problems then it solves...lol.
I don't have many games right now so like I said, might just get rid of it and go with the PS3.

The towel trick works most of the time, but even when it does, it's not a permanent fix. The xbox is likely to red ring again, so I only really recommend it if you just don't feel like going through the hassle of getting a new system yet.

LMAO... as an electrician every part of me tells me that is such a horrible idea.

PS3 time...I'll pick one up tomorrow.

irony is that the PS3 slims seem to have a higher defective rate then the original. I was actually suprised to hear more and more people complaining about defective ps3's

the towel trick is for older 360's with the poor sodering job. The reason the trick works with them is because your heating the system so hot the soder melts and settles back over its connections and then when it cools down its reconnected. But again being poor soder it will come off again. Not to mention your doing more damage to other parts of the system.

When I got the red rings all I did was hook the 360 up into a different powerplug somewhere else from where its usually connected, i turned it on there and let ir run for a while and the red rings didn't show, put it back in the original spot and it worked again, I read that somewhere on the net, I try that before getting rid of it.
