Welcome one and all to the 2023 BTB Awards!

I'm excited to be able to host these as your humble mod but obviously this section would be nothing without the people actually contributing to it through the many great BTBs, prediction contest contributions, voting in BTB of the Month, and of course the much beloved feedback. So thank you to everyone who did any of those things in 2023!

But let's get this show on the road!

First and foremost I want to thank those who submitted ballots for these awards, I love each of your more than you could ever know. This includes:
BattleTank, DTP, Dubb, Rant, RDT, Roy Mustang, Stojy, Tig, and White Rhyno.


And also a special thanks to BattleTank for volunteering and creating the awards graphics you will see for each category.

Obviously the heart of a BTB is the writing and since these are wrestling BTBs, the matches are typically the ones that take center stage. And the best matches are the ones that have had a strong build, written well, booked well, and perhaps most importantly, tell a story.

I think it's safe to say each of our nominees hit those marks in spades.

Congratulations to Damage CTRL! This match and feud was perhaps one of the best built programs I've seen in a BTB and this was the big grand conclusion. And it obviously delivered above and beyond.

Up next, it's one of my favorite parts of a BTB... and that's the promos. Perhaps the best way to build characters is through the promos and segments happening between the matches.

Thrilled to be able to earn your votes for this one as promos are what I enjoy writing perhaps even more than the matches themselves. This one was a big one for WCW 1995 as it kicked off my attempts to turn the Dungeon of Doom into a serious threat to WCW under it's new leadership of Randy Savage. Thanks to those who gave it the love but shoutout to Damage CTRL and that follow up promo to the Match of the Year with the runner up promo directly following the match!

NON-WRESTLING BTB OF THE YEAR


Hey, this section isn't just about wrestling. There's some really fun projects going on over at the Non-Wrestling subforum. You should definitely check these nominees and the others out sometime.

This award became synonymous with Shade over the years at WrestlingClique, which many of us used to call home. And for this reason, I also refer to this award as The Shady Acres award. And, of course, he himself is among those in consideration for the award once again.

Already among the legends of the BTB universe, Stojy adds to his legacy with this award as he pumped out a couple fun projects last year, most obviously the WCW by Jim Cornette one but also his short lived WWE Championship Scene one was a lot of fun. I've been a little less consistent on the website the last couple months. Trying to stay focused on my podcasts, radio show, and FFSN writing job, keeping these tabs open can be quite a distraction when my wrestling BTB creative juices flowing.

With that said, VERY honored and surprised the Edge/Christian contract signing got recognized as a nominee for the Promo of the Year. I started heel Christian before AEW started heel Christian so I'm glad people enjoyed this. It was something I felt needed to be done different than the rest of my show and needed emphasis, so very encouraged and admired to see people liked it.

Not surprised by the winners of these categories at all. Congrats to DTP, Stojy, Dubb, Shade, and Damage CTRL for winning! Excited for what this year brings us.
