There has been a lot of talk about how Buy Rates are everything. I figured I would come up with the list of all of WWE's 2011-2012 PPV Buy Rates, and what main evented those events. The event that drew more will be in green. Red is the lowest out of both years.

Out of 12 PPV's, the 2012 PPV's drew more then 2011's Seven Times, and 2011 drew more then 2012 on 4 occasions. The TLC PPV is still yet to be determined. Both years, the Over The Limit PPV has been the lowest buy rates. Thought this may be interesting to some people.

Eh nothing out of the ordinary really.

Given the lack of depth to the roster then you generally expect the buys to be down on the previous year unless it has a true star attraction like Rock/Cena Brock/Cena Brock/HHH etc. Obviously there's going to be times when the normal roster might draw better than the previous year if they've put on a card that's either well built or just flat out intriguing like Ryback/Punk was.

I wouldn't say that buyrates are everything but they are a major money spinner for a wrestling company and they can produce huge profit margins if done right. WWE has done well with making the most out of their special attractions in 2012 to keep the buyrates up over 2011. Considering the price of PPVs in the US, especially with a $10 surcharge for HD, these are impressive numbers. Over The Limit is just the worst positioned PPV and I doubt that they would be able to find a PPV that excels at that time of year. It follows four big PPVs and is the first real nothing PPV of the year so it doesn't surprise me that it is consistently outperformed.

Agree on Troy's point about Over the Limit, also maybe not having a special gimmick attraction like Extreme Rules or EC might be a factor.

As a whole would say there was more freshness to the lineups in 2012 and the impact of the likes of Lesnar and The Rock were obveriously a big thing. Also think the Bryan/AJ/Punk triagle was a big hit last year, and Punk/Cena at the start of summer 2011 made things more cutting edge and unpredictable.
