PLAINFIELD (WABC) -- Two New Jersey men have been charged in an eight-count indictment related to the kidnapping and sexual assault of a mentally disabled woman.

According to the investigation, 31-year-old Edward Woodson, of Plainfield, had asked the then 30-year-old victim to come to his house around 9 p.m. on January 31, 2011 for a bible study. At the time, the victim was preparing for a baptism at a church frequented by both Woodson and the victim.

Prosecutors say Woodson brought the victim to his family's home, where he met up with a neighbor, 30-year-old Marcal Campbell. Together, they allegedly brought the victim into the basement of the home, where they simultaneously sexually assaulted her.

The woman then spent the night sitting in a chair in Woodson's bedroom, according to authorities. At 6 a.m. on February 1, Woodson is accused of forcing the victim out of the house and into a falling snow.

Not properly dressed for the elements, the victim spent at least two hours outside begging for a ride home from strangers. Eventually, members of Woodson's family found the freezing victim in the front of the house and paid for a taxi to bring her home.

The victim reported the assault to relatives and she was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Both Woodson and Campbell are being held at the Union County Jail on $300,000 bail.
